Baili An brings Shu Ci to the cold Shifang City, where she initially struggles with the temperature but eventually finds joy in the bustling night market. Despite her newfound fascination, Shu Ci, in her fox form, clings to Baili An, fearing he will abandon her. As Baili An prepares to leave for urgent matters, his Vermilion Bird pouch unexpectedly trembles, releasing a mysterious shadow.

The swiftness was such that only a pair of fluffy, snow-white rabbit ears could be seen bobbing up and down. A small, dark blur zipped past, brushing against Baili An’s cheek.

Shu Ci, caught mid-yawn and utterly unprepared, saw nothing more than a rabbit’s leg with pink paw pads hurtling towards her, planting itself squarely onto her own fluffy fox head.

In the blink of an eye, the world tilted. A nosebleed erupted, and the claw that snagged Baili An’s shoulder gouged a deep, ragged tear.

Like a tumbling gourd, Shu Ci was flung backward, landing by sheer luck on a soft surface. Had it not been for the cushioning, her posterior would surely have been cleaved in twain.

As the esteemed head of the six rivers within the Demon Clan, Shu Ci had never endured such an ignominy.

With a surge of fury, she lifted her head, her beastly fangs bared in rage, fur on end. She glared at the little creature before her, oblivious and occupying her territory.

It was at this precise moment that she clearly discerned the true form and lineage of the small being twitching its oversized ears on Baili An’s shoulder.

The revelation was, to Shu Ci, a genuine shock.

It was none other than the True Demon, Afu Tu!

Though it was but an infant True Demon, in times past, Shu Ci could have shattered every one of its bones with a mere flick of her fingers.

However, her cultivation was now depleted. Faced with this formidable demon, capable of devouring all, she could barely defend herself.

Confronting such a ferocious entity head-on was evidently an imprudent strategy.

A seasoned political strategist from Mohe, Shu Ci understood the art of concealing weaknesses and exploiting strengths. In situations like this, enlisting the aid of another was paramount.

Thus, Shu Ci emulated the pampered main wives often depicted in dramatic scripts, subjected to the cruelty of vicious concubines.

With a dainty, short fox paw, delicately adorning herself and clasping her fingers, she commenced weeping with an air of refined elegance and sass, her demeanor irresistibly captivating.

She seemed to have overlooked the fact that she was not a human but a fox with a disproportionately large head and a small, bristling body.

Such a display of demonic presence struck a rather comical chord.

Her plump, short paws subconsciously stroked her waist and hindquarters, while her dull eyes cast languid, misplaced glances.

She endeavored to showcase her modest physique to Baili An.

Preparing to emit a couple of plaintive whimpers, lamenting the demon’s heinous brutality.

Baili An, alerted by the commotion behind him, turned to witness the big-chested fox’s comically alluring display and its ferocious fangs, still unsheathed and aimed at Afu Tu.

A sudden frown creased his brow, a storm gathering in his mind, and he rebuked in a low tone, “Are those large, gleaming teeth meant for biting? Retract them at once!”

Shu Ci was utterly bewildered, a sense that her recent expressed affections had been profoundly misguided washing over her.

Clearly, it was she who had been sent flying and was bleeding profusely.

The perpetrator, however, remained proudly ensconced in her former position, not only unharmed but bizarrely admonished.

What did he mean by her baring her teeth?

That wretched rabbit, even without baring its fangs, had its prominent buck teeth on full display, did it not?

The truly infuriating aspect was that the rabbit’s front teeth came in pairs.

This detestable rabbit was missing a tooth, rendering its appearance ridiculously unsightly – an absolute disgrace!

Consumed by anger and indignation, Shu Ci forgot all about retracting her own formidable teeth.

Abandoning her alluring pose, she dropped to all fours, fur bristling, fixing Afu Tu with a furious glare and emitting a guttural roar.

With blood still staining her snout, the large-headed fox presented a rather savage and bloodthirsty spectacle.

In stark contrast, the Afu Tu, which had previously dealt the fox a blow, delicately covered its momentarily exposed mouth with a rabbit paw.

Ostensibly a rabbit, it emanated an uncharacteristic and refined gentlemanly aura.

It was the very picture of affectation.

Lounging casually on Baili An’s shoulder, a drooping rabbit ear cautiously lifted, gently brushing against Baili An’s earlobe as if conveying a sense of longing.

It must be remembered that during Baili An’s three-year period of unconsciousness, Afu Tu had no one to provide sustenance.

As an ancient True Demon, the sheer volume of food required to sustain its immense power was staggering.

Previously always in Baili An’s proximity, it oscillated between being satiated and near starvation, often resorting to sleep to conserve its depleting strength.

In recent years, left to its own devices, it had continually slumbered within the Vermilion Bird pouch.

Toward his former companion, who had shared life and death with him and had now awakened, Baili An naturally harbored deep affection and cherishment.

Baili An extended a hand, stroking the rabbit’s silky, large ears, not chastising its imperious and unruly conduct, even permitting such intimate proximity.

“Little rabbit, how did you awaken? How opportune, for we are now in Shifang City, where everything is of the highest quality.

Later, we shall stroll through the streets, and I shall procure carrots for you, your favorite treat, undoubtedly sweeter than any you’ve had before.”

Such gentle and amiable behavior was entirely unprecedented in Shu Ci’s experience.

Resisting the urge to feel even more incensed was impossible, a primal desire to tear that morsel of flesh with her teeth and devour it whole consuming her.

The profound displeasure of having her domain violated was palpable!

A fierce, low growl rumbled from her throat, her chubby fox visage contorted almost beyond recognition by sheer fury.

Afu Tu affectionately nuzzled its head against his palm, then appeared to sense something. Its small paw delicately brushed against Baili An’s clothes, right where the wound was, conveying a profound sense of guilt. Subsequently, it hopped down from his shoulder and landed before Shu Ci, its friendly eyes beckoning her to join in embracing Baili An.
