Qingxin, a guide under the ancient Great Demon Tang Di, pledges her loyalty to Baili An. Baili An tasks her with secretly gathering resources and skilled individuals for an unknown purpose related to Shifang City. He suspects an impending catastrophe involving mechanical puppets and intends to prepare preemptively, specifically mentioning a Miss Fang in Shifang City as someone to be protected. As Qingxin prepares to depart, an assassin attacks, but Baili An intervenes, taking a poisoned arrow meant for her. Qingxin, in turn, removes the arrow, and Baili An uses a spirit stone to heal her wound before confronting the attacker.

A resident of Shifang City, no less!

More astonishingly, someone from Shifang City had been concealing themselves within Wusu County all along, completely unconcerned by the rampaging Mechanical Puppets.

It would appear this entire disturbance indeed originated from within Shifang City itself.

With swift and lethal movements, the young man descended from the tree, a natural smile gracing his features. His eyes, narrowed into slits, formed crescent shapes, nearly obscuring his pupils.

Yet, Baili An distinctly felt the probing nature of his gaze.

"'One Drop of Blood,' is it? Heh, this Demon Alliance, a mere handful of years old, dares to interfere in the affairs of my Shifang City.

You seem to be the leader of One Drop of Blood; there's nothing remarkable about you, pitifully weak.

Your subordinates are equally pathetic. I've wasted my efforts watching her for so long, only to find she's nothing special."

Baili An had believed he had made thorough preparations for Shifang City.

This individual, claiming affiliation with Shifang City, not only showed no gratitude but also displayed such profound animosity.

Their opposing stances were starkly evident.

Baili An looked down, stating, "You are quite confident, but how far do you imagine you can actually get outside of Wushan County?"

The youth, bow in hand, chuckled heartily, "I am aware of the woman in red by your side; her abilities are truly exceptional. In the blink of an eye, she annihilated hundreds of infected Puppets in Wushan County.

Since I've decided to act against you tonight, I have not come unprepared.

The aura on this hilltop has been thoroughly masked by my secret treasure, though I cannot guarantee how long it will shield me from that woman's senses, given her prowess.

However, I am certain that eliminating both of you will be as simple as breathing."

With a slight flick of his finger, the arrow resting on the grass, previously dropped by Qingxin, levitated back into his grasp, held securely.

The longbow slung across his back swung around and settled into his palms. He drew the bow, nocked the arrow, and aimed its tip directly at Qingxin.

Baili An's expression hardened as he desperately channeled the meager Dark Qi remaining within him.

He surged forward like a leopard, his blood energy extending like a long shadow in the air.

Gathering Qingxin's form, he moved in a zigzag pattern, a path of crimson light cutting into the darkness, vanishing completely as he merged with the night.

The arrowhead of the drawn bow, positioned before the youth, spun with a Dharmic Seal, yet it failed to lock onto Baili An's aura.

He sighed softly, remarking, "Your evasive maneuvers are quite skillful, but unfortunately, my domain has already been activated. Where else can you possibly escape to now? Your efforts are futile."

Having spoken, his pupils began to rotate, his eyes resembling mirrors, seemingly reflecting the surrounding scenery in slow motion.

He gently closed one eye, while the other whirled within its socket at a speed defying human capabilities.

The Dharmic Seal before the arrow coalesced, forming countless rings of purple light.

Suddenly, one ring shifted to red, its glow intensifying. The youth's frenetically spinning pupils snapped into focus, locking onto a specific location.

Releasing his grip, the arrow flew!

A whistle through the air! A thunderous twang of strings!

The serpentine arrow shot forth like an incandescent purple serpent, cleaving a path of electric purple through the deep, dark night.

The wind generated by the arrow's passage instantly disintegrated blades of grass into fine dust!

Whoosh!

The purple lightning streaked through the sky, vanishing without a trace.

The youth uttered a soft exclamation, "Oh."

The second arrow missed?

Despite the displeasure evident on his face, he remained unhurried, leisurely retrieving another arrow from his quiver and slowly twirling it between his fingers.

His gaze fixed upon a point three hundred meters to the east, where Baili An, half-supporting a girl and kneeling on one knee, his face deathly pale, was breathing heavily.

"Impressive, to take my arrow and still manage to evade it.

But that last shot must have completely drained you. Can you truly guarantee her survival against my third arrow?"

Qingxin pressed her lips together tightly, replying, "My lord, Qingxin's life is worth nothing; death would be no loss!"

Baili An glanced at her sideways, "Weren't you the one just now saying you wouldn't disgrace the name 'Tang Di'? And now your life is worthless?"

Qingxin was momentarily silenced by his calm and indifferent demeanor.

Baili An turned back slowly, rising to his feet. He gazed into the distance at the youth and inquired, "Who are you?"

The youth responded with bold directness, introducing himself, "I am Yu Xiuji, from Shifang City, under Yinghuo City. It is no dishonor to perish by my hand today."

Shifang City consists of four major cities, with Tianquan City at the helm, and Yinghuo City, Taibai City, and Tiangge City forming its periphery.

Yinghuo City is governed by the City Lord's eldest son; could this individual be affiliated with Fang Zhuohang's faction?

Baili An could not immediately ascertain the truthfulness of his words, but one thing was undeniable...

"You have the audacity to venture into Wusu County; such courage is indeed commendable."

"Bold?" the youth scoffed, "With just your petty tricks, you’re no threat to me."

Baili An stated, "I am referring to the Witch Plague Poison."

Yu Xiuji’s expression went rigid, a spark of malice crossing his gaze, "What did you just say?!"

Baili An tapped his left eye, chuckling, "That eye is a replacement, isn't it? Or perhaps..."

"Instead of a prosthetic, maybe half of your being was donated to Shifang City’s Mechanical Technique studies."

Yu Xiuji’s visage grew somber, his teeth clenching into a frigid grin, "Originally, my intention was to seize the leader of One Drop of Blood alive. Now, it appears I must ensure you do not walk away from this."
