Isekai Nonbiri Nouka Chapter 1055: Yame Leaves the Island
Previously on Isekai Nonbiri Nouka...
My name is Yame.
The name of the girl who came to the island where I live is Ursa.
Ursa isn’t a princess. She’s the village chief’s daughter.
Just how wealthy is that village?
Ah, they already knew I was a devil.
I wasn’t trying to hide it, though.
I just didn’t intend to actively tell them, since I didn’t want to cause any trouble.
I wonder how they found out?
Maybe one of the four Godkins with Ursa, or the ice monster, saw through me?
Well, whatever.-0-
I led Ursa and the others to my base so I could explain things about myself to them.
It was faster to just show them.
But when Ursa and the others saw my base, they looked at me with such gentle eyes.
Isn’t that a little rude?
It keeps the rain out properly.
It just isn’t very good at keeping out rain coming from the side.
-0-
Anyway, since I had guests, I did my best to serve them my prized tea, and they all spat it out.
Isn’t that a little rude, too?
It’s delicious.
And it’s not poisonous.
Ah, and please forgive me for the cups being seashells of all different sizes.
-0-
The birds… are taking shelter.
Yeah, good job.
-0-
After introducing them to my doll, Ivan, and telling them about my life on the island, they started crying.
Geez.

After hearing all sorts of things from Ursa and the others, I realized there was a huge gap between what I knew and what the world was actually like.
The countries I knew.
There were almost none left.
Just the Demon King’s Kingdom, more or less.
And apparently, devils now serve the dragons… I do remember there being talk of that before I went to sleep, but there were so many people against it that I thought it would never happen.
What happened while I was asleep?
I thought the world had changed way too much in a hundred years, but apparently I had been asleep for much longer than a hundred years.
Apparently, Ursa knows devils, so I’ll ask them about it when I meet them.
Since they’re taking care of dragon children, they must be a gentle devils.
Ah, the name doesn’t matter.
Even if I hear it, I probably won’t know who they are anyway.
I don’t know many devils.
The few I do know are pretty intense, though…
Ah, Ursa, you shouldn’t get involved with those guys.
Yeah, they’re pretty harsh toward anyone who isn’t a devil.
They’re weird, too.
It’s better if you don’t know.
Once you know about them, don’t you know the saying that if you know about something, you’ll end up encountering it?
It was used pretty often before I went to sleep, though.

The Godkins had been renamed the Angels.
Is this one of those things?
Did they do something so terrible that they became too ashamed to call themselves the Godkins?
Sounds about right.
They were the Godkins, after all.
There was no way they could avoid causing trouble.
As I nodded along in understanding, the Godkins… Ah, the Angels.
Sorry, sorry.
The four Angels asked me about the Godkins I knew.
I told them honestly.
Just the facts.
I didn’t exaggerate even a little.
And yet, the four Angels members insisted that I was exaggerating and wouldn’t back down.
Wait, do they want me to say that I exaggerated?
Because it was pretty awful.
But it was the truth.
The undeniable truth.
Even if I said I was exaggerating, that wouldn’t change the facts.
And when I compared what the four Angels members told me with what I knew… Huh?
Have I been asleep for about two thousand years?
Am I imagining things?
-0-
I wasn’t imagining it.
When I heard that the Godkins I knew was probably the grandmother or great-grandmother of the current chief of the Angels, it seemed to be true.
What on earth happened to me?
Surely, I couldn’t have overslept for that long.
But I had lost enough of my power that I couldn’t even fly anymore… Hmm.
W-well, I’ll think about that later.
First, I had to talk things over with Ursa.
I said this island was my territory, but the only basis for that claim was that I lived here.
If they asked me to give it up, I was prepared to do so.
But I didn’t want to give it away for free.
I wanted something in return.
That said, I would be in trouble if they just gave me some money and sent me on my way.
I was certain I’d be in trouble.
No, I think I could survive anywhere if I made use of what I’d learned from living on the island, but I felt like I’d only be surviving.
What I wanted was a safe life.
Life on the island had been fulfilling, too, but I died.
I haven’t died as often recently, but I still die.
When I thought about it that way, life on this island was pretty harsh.
I did want to leave the island.
Or, alternatively, I wanted to live safely on this island after it had been developed.
I told Ursa about these wishes without hiding anything.
There was no point in hiding them.
In the end, Ursa decided to take me back to her village.
According to Ursa, what happened to me after leaving the island was more than she could handle on her own, so she wanted me to discuss it with her father.
I had absolutely no problem with that.
Judging by Ursa’s attitude, her father’s village had to be quite wealthy.
Which meant it was a safe village.
Wonderful.
If they let me live in that village, that might be more than enough for me.
I’ll work properly.
Even before I went to sleep, I was a fairly well-known devil.
Fairly.
I mean fairly.
It’s not like everyone knew me.
-0-
In any case, I had to discuss things with Ursa’s father, but before that, there was a more fundamental issue. Ursa had to decide whether this island was suitable as a present for her father.
So I spent about three days showing her around the island.
I’m jealous of the four Angels members who can fly.
And the ice monster was very knowledgeable.
It knew all sorts of things that I had learned through experience.
It was also a good cook.
Ursa must have brought some of the ingredients with her, but I felt like I was eating a proper meal for the first time in ages.
This is preserved food?
It’s really delicious, though.
Maybe it’s because the flavor is so strong?
The ice monster is nice to have around.
But it’s noisy.
What it says is correct, but it feels like it’s beating me over the head with that correctness.
Ursa doesn’t like it.
I wonder if the ice monster is less Ursa’s butler and more like her instructor?

While I was showing Ursa and the others around the island, they let me sleep on the airship.
I almost cried when I saw the private room where I could actually feel safe.
The soft, fluffy bed made me happy.
-0-
After looking around the island, Ursa gave me her approval.
Thank goodness.
And then I left the island.
On the airship.
I left the island in the care of the birds and Ivan.
I cracked open plenty of the hard fruits so the birds wouldn’t have any trouble.
Stay healthy even if I don’t come back.
I’ll be angry if you go and die on your own.
Though, I have a feeling I’ll be coming back again.
……
Hopefully, it won’t be because the outside world was so terrifying that I ran back here.
Ah, I’ll bring my shield.
Yeah.
