Ye Haochuan sorts through the spoils from the clan leaders, finding little of value except for a map. He travels to a new town, disguises himself, and learns that the world is ruled by the Holy Tribunal and the Dark Church. He then unexpectedly encounters Rui'er, a spy he thought was dead, and decides to follow her.

Rui’er stepped into the Six-Winged Fallen Angel Temple, her expression becoming graver, as though approaching a fearsome encounter.

After a moment’s pause, she gradually knelt before the Fallen Angel, finally whispering a few words.

In the very next instant, a surge of black light erupted from the eyes of the Heavenly Emissary Statue, engulfing Rui’er.

Rui’er appeared to endure agonizing pain almost immediately. Her countenance turned deathly pale, and perspiration streamed down her forehead. Before long, she resembled someone pulled directly from water.

Her life force seemed to vanish at an alarming rate—was she being offered as a sacrifice?

Witnessing Rui’er's rapid deterioration, Ye Haochuan could not help but furrow his brow.

Approximately ten minutes elapsed before the black light finally dissipated.

Rui’er, seemingly utterly depleted, collapsed onto the ground, her breaths coming in ragged gasps.

At this juncture, her complexion was ashen, resembling someone on the verge of their final breath.

Shortly thereafter, another young woman entered. She cast a glance at Rui’er, devoid of any discernible sympathy.

With ruthless expediency, the woman hauled Rui’er’s form aside and knelt in the very spot Rui’er had occupied, mimicking her predecessor’s actions.

A few minutes passed, and Rui’er appeared to regain a modicum of strength. She struggled to her feet with heavy, deliberate steps, slowly making her way out of the Temple.

Ye Haochuan located an inconspicuous vantage point and, moving with considerable speed, intercepted Rui’er with forceful resolve.

"How dare you defile a Servant of God, you court death…" Rui’er, clearly astonished by the sudden assault, cried out with her remaining strength in her panic.

Ye Haochuan disregarded her protestations, propelling her out of the town and only releasing her within the confines of a secluded forest.

"It’s you?" Only then did Rui’er recognize Ye Haochuan. Her surprise was immediate, mingled with trepidation as she stammered, "How did you locate this place?"

"What? You believed I was solely here to apprehend you? You overestimate your importance!" Ye Haochuan retorted with a sneer.

Rui’er, clinging to a sliver of hope, hastily pleaded, "Since you aren't specifically after me, can you just act as though you never saw me?"

"Having seen, how can I feign ignorance? To deceive myself would be rather pathetic, wouldn't it?" Ye Haochuan remarked, a smirk playing on his lips.

Rui’er's expression instantly soured. "If that is your stance," she stated coldly, "then why prolong this conversation? Simply end me!"

"No need for haste. Before I dispatch you, I require clarification on a few matters!"

Ye Haochuan flashed a cunning smile. "Should your answers prove satisfactory, I might reconsider sparing your life!"

Rui’er directed a glare at Ye Haochuan, clearly wondering if he was toying with her.

Nevertheless, for the sake of survival, she suppressed the thought and slowly responded, "What questions do you have? Proceed!"

"First question: How did you arrive here?"

Rui’er frowned, evidently reluctant to divulge the information. However, meeting Ye Haochuan’s icy gaze, she relented.

"After Ye Hao imprisoned me, I resigned myself to my fate. Consequently, I communicated with the Chief God, offering myself as a sacrifice. The Chief God heeded my plea and employed a Secret Technique to extract me from my confinement!"

"Sacrifice?" Ye Haochuan's surprise was palpable, a memory of Hu Ji surfacing.

Hu Ji had vanished before his eyes in an identical manner, and upon their reunion, she had already become a two-winged Fallen Angel.

During the climactic confrontation with the Evil Sect, had it not been for his abundant resources and sheer luck, Hu Ji might have decimated Xuanmen.

"I must say, isn't this method excessively potent? If individuals from the Evil Sect were to escape in such a fashion, wouldn't we be incapable of eliminating any of them?" Ye Haochuan expressed his bewilderment.

"The prerequisites for such a sacrifice are hardly easily fulfilled," Rui’er countered.

"The primary requirement is a pure maiden, coupled with sustained communion with the Chief God to receive the divine mark!"

"Similar to the Divine Sacrifice trick?"

A realization dawned upon Ye Haochuan.

It appeared the so-called mark possessed a characteristic akin to the Divine Sacrifice mark, acting as a conduit for spatial translocation. Upon Rui’er’s supplication, the Chief God had breached space to bring her to this location.

"Wait!" A sudden thought struck Ye Haochuan. He regarded Rui’er with a knowing smirk, inquiring with evident curiosity, "Having been in proximity to Ye Xiao for so long, how could you still be a maiden? Could it be... Ye Xiao lacks the capability?"

Rui’er's expression shifted subtly, and she retorted with indignant heat, "Do not slander Young Master Xiao; he is exceptionally pure!"

As she spoke, a flicker of guilt crossed Rui’er's countenance.

"When I chose to infiltrate Xuanmen as a spy, I anticipated potential capture. To preserve this final avenue of escape, I maintained a deliberate distance from Young Master Xiao and never yielded myself to him!"

This Ye Xiao is truly too foolish, isn't he? He gained nothing and was completely manipulated by that woman!

Ye Haochuan felt a pang of sympathy for Ye Xiao, wishing to mourn for him for three minutes.

"Alright, you've answered the first question!" Ye Haochuan collected his thoughts and proceeded, "For the second question, what exactly were you doing in the Temple just now?"

"Making a sacrifice!" Rui'er replied instantly.

If I hadn't just completed the sacrifice and been drained of my strength, I would have already commanded the Chief God to eliminate you!

Rui'er silently seethed in her heart.

She understood, however, that the Chief God's summoning wasn't always successful, especially since there were more Servants of the Chief God than just her.

Having witnessed Ye Haochuan's merciless nature, she knew resisting would surely lead to her immediate demise.

"Elaborate on that!" Ye Haochuan urged.

"A Divine Servant's duty is to channel Spiritual Energy and vitality to the Chief God. Through a specialized Cultivation technique, we can siphon some vitality and Spiritual Energy from ordinary individuals, which we then offer to the Chief God via sacrifice..."

Ye Haochuan grasped the essence of Rui'er's explanation: this so-called Divine Servant acted as a conduit for the Chief God to plunder the populace's vitality.

Naturally, if these ordinary people offered their sacrifices willingly, given the Chief God's revered status, they likely wouldn't refuse. However, the process would be exceedingly inefficient.

To use a monetary analogy, imagine each ordinary person possessing one dollar. If a sacrifice consumes one minute, gathering ten dollars would require a hundred minutes.

Conversely, if an intermediary first collected a hundred dollars from these individuals through unofficial means and presented it to the Chief God, the Chief God would only need a single minute.

As an intermediary, Rui'er gained no personal benefit from this exchange; instead, she endured significant pain. Yet, having chosen to become a Divine Servant, regret was now pointless.

"Third question, what level of cultivation do these Chief Gods possess?" Ye Haochuan continued his interrogation.

This question caused Rui'er to pause in surprise, her gaze scrutinizing Ye Haochuan as if she had misheard him.
