Ye Haochuan and Niu Kui narrowly escape a powerful Azure Flame Wolf King after Ye Haochuan's treasure gourd shatters. Dou Chi, the spirit within the treasure order, becomes furious when Ye Haochuan depletes its energy. Dou Chi then points out Niu Kui's unusual resistance to Ye Haochuan's abilities, raising questions about his origins. The pair continues their journey towards Mushan City, finding the towns deserted and overrun by demon beasts. Upon reaching Mushan City, they discover it heavily guarded by various demon beasts, leaving them wondering how to infiltrate.

"You wait outside for a moment. I'm going in alone to scout ahead!" Ye Haochuan pondered briefly before speaking to Niu Kui.

This decision was hardly surprising. Niu Kui's immense size made it impossible for Ye Haochuan to employ his invisibility ability to bring him inside.

"But what if something happens to you? There are so many formidable demon beasts lurking within," Niu Kui voiced his concern.

"Don't fret, I'll manage!" Ye Haochuan responded, a touch of warmth in his voice. "You're the one who needs to be cautious out here. Quite a number of demon beasts also roam this area, so make sure to conceal yourself well!"

The thought of leaving Niu Kui alone made Ye Haochuan even more anxious. After some consideration, he opted to erect an invisibility array for Niu Kui, ensuring that as long as he remained within its confines, no one outside would detect his presence.

Once this was accomplished, night descended.

After instructing Niu Kui to remain within the array's protection, Ye Haochuan stealthily approached the city gates, cloaked by the darkness. Even with his invisibility, evading the keen senses of a demon spirit dog would prove challenging. Ye Haochuan vividly recalled his passage from Shuanghua County to Mushan County across the Iron Bridge, where individuals with a sharp sense of smell had detected him. A demon spirit dog, renowned for its olfactory prowess, would surely pose an even greater obstacle.

As Ye Haochuan grappled with this predicament, a Black Sha Pig, currently in the Early Stage of Immortal Transformation, suddenly charged from a distance, clearly intending to enter the city.

"A perfect opportunity!"

Ye Haochuan's eyes sparkled as he fixed his gaze upon the approaching Black Sha Pig. These creatures were colossal, rivaling elephants in size, and this particular specimen seemed even larger than usual.

Ye Haochuan discreetly positioned himself along the Black Sha Pig's inevitable path towards the city gate. As the beast thundered past, he swiftly followed in its wake.

"Ugh, the stench is unbearable!"

Ye Haochuan pinched his nose, muttering inwardly. Yet, there was no hint of displeasure. His keen interest in the Black Sha Pig stemmed precisely from its overpowering odor; its meat was notoriously foul, making it undesirable to most. This potent stench served as a fortuitous cloak, offering Ye Haochuan a chance to mask his scent from the demon spirit dog.

Oblivious to the presence of the follower, the Black Sha Pig continued its charge.

Before long, the Black Sha Pig reached the city gate. Ye Haochuan observed the demon spirit dog instinctively recoil, its nose twitching, clearly disinclined to inhale the creature's noxious fumes.

Just as Ye Haochuan began to believe the demon spirit dog would forgo its inspection, he realized his error. This particular guardian was evidently diligent, steeling itself against the odor and closing in for a sniff.

"Blast it, these demon beasts are more disciplined than many humans! Are they challenging the heavens themselves?"

Ye Haochuan mused silently. Throughout his journey, the behavior of these demon beasts had profoundly altered his perception of low-level demonic creatures within the Immortal Realm. Who had propagated the notion that such beasts lacked intelligence and were easily subdued? Encountering such an organized group might even put some humans to shame.

The demon spirit dog's unwavering vigilance compelled Ye Haochuan to exercise extreme caution. Fortunately, the Black Sha Pig's overwhelming malodor proved to be Ye Haochuan's salvation. After a brief period of following, the pervasive stench completely enveloped him, drowning out his own scent.

The demon spirit dog sniffed the air several times but ultimately failed to detect Ye Haochuan's presence. In short order, Ye Haochuan successfully slipped through the city gates, concealed by the Black Sha Pig.

The Black Sha Pig seemed intent on a specific destination, heading directly towards the city center once past the gate. Ye Haochuan, however, chose not to pursue it further. Instead, he found a secluded spot and deactivated his invisibility.

While invisibility was an incredibly potent ability, its use came at a significant cost. In mere minutes, his spiritual energy was nearly depleted. Thankfully, he now possessed some Flower Energy, whose 'stamina' far surpassed that of spiritual energy; without it, he would have lasted mere moments.

Popping an Infant Energy Condensation Pill, Ye Haochuan began to assess the city's internal conditions.

"Huh? Why are there so many people?"

Employing his Perspective Eyes, Ye Haochuan discerned that the surrounding dwellings were not occupied by demon beasts, but entirely by humans. However, these individuals bore no resemblance to the carefree folk of his past life, each residing in their own separate room. This place resembled a sprawling pigsty more than actual houses. Each yard, containing more than a dozen rooms, was crammed with at least seven to eight hundred people, packed so densely that no space was left unoccupied. All these individuals wore expressions of utter despair, appearing like living corpses, completely stripped of any fighting spirit.

"Damn it, could Keyue be among them?"

A sense of urgency washed over Ye Haochuan, and he immediately activated his perspective ability to search the vicinity.

Seeing this scene, while infuriated, he still held a glimmer of hope.

Since the demon beasts hadn’t wiped out the humans, it indicated Long Keyue might still be alive. Though the environment here was harsh, what could be more important than being alive?

Ye Haochuan observed carefully, examining each person diligently. After ten minutes, he disappointedly discovered that the room contained no trace of Long Keyue.

Unwilling to give up, Ye Haochuan continued toward the next human-occupied courtyard.

The second room was similar to the first Yama Faction; Ye Haochuan found nothing.

Just as he was about to head to the third courtyard, he suddenly heard a woman’s cry of alarm.

The cries were mingled with the laughter of some men.

"Why scream? We’re all going to die anyway, why not let this brother have some joy?"

"I used to treat you with utmost kindness, yet you always ignored me. Now that we’re about to die, I need to vent this frustration. Even if I can’t have your heart, I’ll have your body..."

"My wife is a hideous old woman, I’ve long wanted to find a young, tender beauty to have fun with. Now that we’re all facing death, I’m not afraid of any moral backlash. Little lady, just give in to me..."

"..."

The revolting words were unceasing. Ye Haochuan felt a surge of urgency, quickly activating his Perspective Eyes to look. Sure enough, he saw many men in this courtyard frantically assaulting the surrounding women.

In the face of crisis, human nature tends to be unleashed without reservation.

Affected by these people, Ye Haochuan clearly saw the once indifferent men around, their eyes beginning to change.

The shadow of death couldn’t be dispelled, and they ultimately chose to let desires overwhelm their fear of dying.

Bastards!

Ye Haochuan was enraged, unsure if Long Keyue was among them. If she was there, with her beauty, she’d undoubtedly be the first target of assault.

"Roar~"

In his desperation, Ye Haochuan made a mistake while hiding, discovered by a demon beast.

With the roar of that demon beast, all nearby demon beasts turned their attention to him, charging toward this direction.

Damn it, when it rains, it pours, huh?

Ye Haochuan cursed in his heart.
