Niu Kui is found severely tortured and imprisoned by the Li family. Ye Haochuan confronts Prefect Liao Li and Young Master Li, who claim Niu Kui owed a debt and was paying it off. Niu Kui, after being given a pill by Ye Haochuan, reveals he was tricked into giving up his red crystals under false pretenses. Despite the evidence, Liao Li seems inclined to side with the Li family, prompting Ye Haochuan to offer compensation and a healing pill.

"Two million Red Crystals?" The onlookers couldn't help but murmur in astonishment. How incredibly wealthy must this individual be to casually offer such a sum without the slightest hesitation?

"Do you think two million is enough to resolve this matter..." Young Master Li remained unwilling to concede. In his view, his honor was paramount; a blow to his pride could not be compensated by any amount of Red Crystals.

Regrettably, his father did not share his sentiment.

Even for the affluent Li Family, two million Red Crystals represented a substantial profit for a month or two; he was certainly not prepared to let such an opportunity slip through his fingers.

"Very well, two million it shall be!" the middle-aged man declared with a smile. "However, the matter concerning the injury inflicted upon my family member is a separate issue!"

"Naturally!" Ye Haochuan readily agreed. "Combine the compensation for the injury, the courtyard, and what I owe Young Master Li, and I will offer five million. How does that sound?"

"Concise and to the point!" the middle-aged man chuckled heartily.

"Brother Ye, they were clearly in the wrong; why would you..." Niu Kui expressed his utter bewilderment. He was about to question Ye Haochuan further when he was gently halted.

Without any further delay, Ye Haochuan promptly transferred the five million Red Crystals, then took his leave from the Li Residence.

"Li Chun, could there be a hidden agenda behind this?" Liao Li observed Ye Haochuan’s departing figure, pondering aloud. He harbored a strong suspicion that Ye Haochuan's drastic shift in demeanor suggested some form of elaborate scheme.

"What possible trick could there be? He handed over the Red Crystals willingly; I did not coerce him. Even if he seeks assistance from Half-Mountain Residence, he won't gain any advantage over me!" the middle-aged man asserted with considerable self-assurance.

Indeed, he held the position of a mere Guest Elder at Half-Mountain Residence. Even if he involved them, they would likely dismiss such a trivial matter.

Liao Li mused to himself.

He couldn't quite explain why, but despite his rational assessment, an unsettling premonition lingered in his heart.

Meanwhile, Ye Haochuan was escorting Niu Kui back towards the city.

The efficacy of the Spirit Level Pill was remarkable. In less than fifteen minutes, Niu Kui's injuries had largely healed. Only some persistent damage remained, requiring rest for complete recovery.

"Ah, my ring is still in their possession, and the Giant Que Sword is within it. I must retrieve it!" Niu Kui suddenly recalled halfway and exclaimed with concern. He prepared to turn back, but Ye Haochuan intervened.

"There is no need. Wait until tomorrow; those items will find their way back to you naturally."

Niu Kui scratched his head, his understanding incomplete, and inquired, "Brother Ye, what stratagem are you devising?"

"You shall understand when the time comes," Ye Haochuan replied, intentionally adopting an air of mystery.

They continued their journey in companionable silence, soon arriving back within the city.

As dusk began to settle, Ye Haochuan returned to his previous lodging and requested two rooms.

The innkeeper, upon seeing Ye Haochuan accompanied by Niu Kui, trembled with fear, his face ashen. "Esteemed guest, I implore you to find alternative accommodation. If you spirit him away and the Li Family discovers it, our humble establishment will be implicated alongside you!"

"Rest assured, I have redeemed him with Red Crystals. Furthermore, after tomorrow, you will no longer need to fear the Li Family," Ye Haochuan reassured him with a smile.

The innkeeper listened, bewildered, grasping only the first part of his statement and disregarding the latter.

Since Niu Kui had been legitimately redeemed, the innkeeper saw no reason for the Li Family to cause trouble. Only then did he efficiently procure two rooms.

Shortly after, Niu Kui retired to his room to rest, while Ye Haochuan remained in his own, cultivating until midnight. He then stealthily departed the inn, employing his Invisibility Ability.

Approximately three to four hours later, he silently re-entered the inn. Taking out a jade token, barely two fingers wide, he channeled Flower Energy into it.

This was the Message Jade Slip that Shentu Fu had bestowed upon him when he departed from Half-Mountain Residence.

This Jade Slip was far less convenient than a communication device. It could only connect with its designated paired slip and continuously consumed Flower Energy during use. Ye Haochuan couldn't help but lament that in some aspects, technology was indeed more advantageous than cultivation.

However, the Jade Slip possessed an undeniable benefit that communication devices could not rival: even when stored within a ring, it could still detect an incoming message from its counterpart.

Prompted by Ye Haochuan’s Flower Energy, a languid response soon echoed from the other end of the line. "What? You’ve already run into major trouble this quickly?"

"It is trouble, though not exceedingly serious. I merely require a small favor from you..." Ye Haochuan chuckled, then adeptly outlined his scheme to Shentu Fu.

As he concluded, he made sure to add, "Rest assured, your assistance won't be unrewarded. Once this is accomplished, we'll split the spoils fifty-fifty!"

"Ye Haochuan, are you jesting with me?" Far from being pleased, Shentu Fu actually cursed, "Do you have any comprehension of how valuable my time is? You expect me to squander it over that paltry sum of Red Crystals?"

Incredible, how had it transformed into 'paltry' Red Crystals? There should have been tens of millions, at the very least.

Ye Haochuan found himself momentarily speechless.

Yet, upon reflection, it did make a certain kind of sense. Given Shentu Fu’s formidable cultivation level, tens of millions likely wouldn't even suffice to cover the expenditure of a single cultivation session.

"Regardless, you previously stated you would watch my back. If you refuse to assist now, isn't that far too irresponsible?" Ye Haochuan inquired shamelessly.

"Assist your backside. If you're lacking Red Crystals, simply state your need, and I'll provide some. What you must focus on immediately is diligent cultivation. Once you achieve a breakthrough to the True Immortal Realm, a significant task awaits you. Wasting precious time over minor Spirit Crystals amounts to wasting your life, understand?" Shentu Fu retorted sharply.

Damn, this individual was the epitome of an armchair expert, offering wisdom only after the fact. Why hadn't he considered offering some Red Crystals when I departed?

Ye Haochuan sneered inwardly, but maintained a pleasant smile outwardly as he declared, "The Red Crystals I procure by dealing with these arrogant brutes are far more satisfying than any I might receive from you. In any case, you must lend me your aid this time. If this matter remains unresolved, I won't be able to quell this surge of anger within my chest. Should I fail to vent it, my mental state could destabilize, potentially leading to qi deviation. You will bear complete responsibility!"

"You insolent brat, you dare to threaten me? Do you have any inkling of what transpired with the last individual who dared to threaten me?" Shentu Fu’s voice turned icy.

"What could possibly have happened? If you possess the capability, then by all means, proceed to kill me." Ye Haochuan responded with utter nonchalance.

"You..." Shentu Fu was instantly rendered speechless.

Blast it all, had I foreseen this, I would never have divulted the details of his mission to this brat. This was a classic instance of being coddled and subsequently acting with unwarranted arrogance!

Shentu Fu had already mentally cursed him countless times over.

"Just wait, I shall arrange for someone to handle the matter for you!" Shentu Fu suppressed the overwhelming urge to retaliate and snorted. "However, I issue a solemn warning: this is the absolute first and final instance. Should you dare to attempt such a ploy again, your demise would leave me entirely indifferent."

"What, you aren't planning on attending personally?" Ye Haochuan sounded genuinely puzzled, showing no hint of intimidation.

"I possess no such superfluous time to engage in trivialities with you. Rest assured, I guarantee your scheme will not falter!" Shentu Fu huffed, then abruptly severed the connection.

Heh, success!

Ye Haochuan chuckled inwardly, his anticipation building for the unfolding events of the morrow.
