Inheritance of Two Trillion Chapter 2903 - 2024: Rising and Falling Killing Intent
Previously on Inheritance of Two Trillion...
The news that the newly appointed Business President Bai Xiaosheng, who had "come to help" the Sixth Business Division, had arrived in Wan Yu and would attend the evening reception!
This news truly surprised Reid.
He hadn’t heard any whispers of it before.
Presumably, others were equally unaware.
That Mrs. Margery really knew how to keep a secret tight!
This indeed carried an "unusual" air!
At present, Reid was planning to lead a group of colleagues in pledging allegiance to Vice Chairman Morgan, and progress had been made. In such sensitive times, any minor disturbance would make him alert, not to mention such an anomaly!
So Reid kept tossing this matter around in his mind, like roasted chestnuts, several times over for a short while.
Luckily, it was his son Binge who accidentally came across it; otherwise, he would have been kept in the dark.
"You’re good to come and specifically tell me about this," Reid regained his composure and even patted his son Binge’s shoulder in praise.
Although Binge didn’t know why what he said was so valuable, his father’s praise certainly put him in a good mood.
"As long as it helps you."
"Alright, I already know the whole situation. You can go now and make sure to accompany Miss Tiwei’er well. Remember, she is vital to the future of us father and son, and even our family! No matter what, you must win her over for me!" Reid instructed his son seriously.
"Okay. Rest well, father, I’m off now." Binge said.
Reid nodded, watched Binge leave, and then walked to his study, sitting down behind his desk.
Pondering over the matter deeply for a while, Reid slowly exhaled a breath of turbid air.
He didn’t know why, but he had this uneasy feeling in his heart that made him increasingly anxious.
It was as if something was about to happen, yet he couldn’t grasp the threads or detect any clues.
"Regarding Bai Xiaosheng’s matter, I need to inform Vice Chairman Morgan about it."
Reid spoke to himself, making a decision.
For one, he was now allied with a new patron, and being diligent wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Secondly, if Vice Chairman Morgan didn’t know that Mrs. Margery privately invited Bai Xiaosheng over and heard it from him, he might suspect Mrs. Margery’s intentions. The more rifts and suspicions there were between Vice Chairman Morgan and Mrs. Margery, the more it would benefit him.
By then, Vice Chairman Morgan would support him on this side.
This was somewhat of an opportunity for him!
Having considered these points, Reid finally stopped hesitating, took out his phone, and cautiously searched for a number.
Due to Reid rallying five major corporate heads to secretly pledge loyalty to Vice Chairman Morgan, the Vice Chairman had specially given him a direct number, one that didn’t need to go through a secretary transfer.
This was a great honor, indicating that Vice Chairman Morgan held Reid in high regard.
This was Reid’s first time dialing this number, and while waiting, he naturally felt a bit excited.
Before long, the call connected.
On the other end, a deep and authoritative voice came through, "Is this Reid? This is Morgan."
"Mr. Morgan, it’s Reid." Reid’s face was beaming as he spoke into the phone, "I’m sorry to disturb you at this time, but I have some situations here which I thought you might want to be aware of."
Reid cut straight to the point. He knew well the kind of stature Vice Chairman Morgan possessed, always busy.
Since this was his personal phone, it was better to get straight to the matter.
"Oh? What situation might that be?" Vice Chairman Morgan asked.
"That Bai Xiaosheng has arrived in Wan Yu! Indications suggest it was Mrs. Margery who invited him, and he’s very likely to attend a significant reception here. Among those attending will be me and top executives from half of the top-tier enterprises in the Sixth Business Division." Reid summarized the situation briefly.
After speaking, he held his breath, waiting for Vice Chairman Morgan’s reaction.
There was a slight silence on the other end.
No surprise, no shock.
This made Reid a bit uneasy; in fact, he hadn’t completely figured out the exact situation here before making the call right away.
If Vice Chairman Morgan were to inquire further, he would have no answers at all.
Wouldn’t Vice Chairman Morgan be displeased, thinking he was incompetent...
Suddenly Reid regretted, regretting making the call too soon. This opportunity to speak directly with Vice Chairman Morgan seemed somewhat wasted.
Finally, Vice Chairman Morgan’s voice came through the phone.
"Is this all?"
The implication being, is that it?
"Th-that’s the current situation, but tonight I’ll gather more details at the reception." Reid quickly responded.
"Okay, I understand." Vice Chairman Morgan said, "Indeed, it was Mrs. Margery who invited Bai Xiaosheng; she had informed me about it earlier. Bai Xiaosheng has done a favor for the Sixth Business Division, and since Mrs. Margery is the Business President of the Sixth Business Division, it’s natural for her to represent us at the reception."
Upon hearing this, Reid was first stunned, and amid his disappointment, there was also a touch of embarrassment.
What he thought was crucial information had already been known to Vice Chairman Morgan.
Mrs. Margery had not informed them, but she had informed Vice Chairman Morgan early on.
"Mr. Morgan, I apologize, I thought you weren’t aware..." Reid said, slightly embarrassed.
"No worries, I wasn’t busy at the moment either, but you coming to inform me, thinking I didn’t know, is also out of good intention." Vice Chairman Morgan comforted in a gentle tone.
Reid quickly smiled and said, "Then I won’t disturb you further."
