Inheritance of Two Trillion Chapter 2882 - 2014: The Only Possibility (2)

Lai Mo, Buchi glanced at Lei Ying and nodded again.
"Is it a little move?" Bai Xiaosheng pondered, recalling the scene with that elderly man.
Even though it was just a glance back then, with Red Lotus’s help in managing memory, he could perfectly recreate it.
"In the elevator, he touched his wristwatch twice," Bai Xiaosheng said intently. "If our guess is right, there’s probably something significant about that watch."
Lai Mo and Buchi listened in incredulousness.
Were these two Asians the genius detectives from animated shows? Their analysis sounded mysterious and uncanny, yet one couldn’t help but agree and even cheer.
Lin Weiwei, who knew Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying’s analytical abilities, couldn’t help but clap softly in admiration.
"Are you sure?" Lei Ying, capable of similar analysis to Bai Xiaosheng’s, didn’t possess Bai Xiaosheng’s capability to vividly replay recent scenes in his mind.
"Absolutely sure," Bai Xiaosheng said with a confident smile. "We could covertly verify this."
Speaking of verification, it wasn’t too difficult; Lai Mo and Buchi knew the old man’s whereabouts, otherwise, they wouldn’t have dared to sneakily unlock his room.
"That old guy finished a full massage session and at this time should be done; he has a habit of drinking a couple of glasses, and might be at the bar now," said Lai Mo.
The group looked at each other upon hearing this.
"What are we waiting for? Let’s also have a drink; it’s on me," Bai Xiaosheng said with a smile.
The group agreed instantly, dispersing and heading toward the bar, thus minimizing the target.
Leading the way was Lei Ying; despite his size, his Soldier King experience meant he was perfect as a scout, attentive in all directions, capable of quickly locating the old man and advising the group on stealth tactics.
Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Weiwei were the last group, setting off after a few minutes.
To cut a long story short, by the time Bai Xiaosheng and Lin Weiwei arrived last, Lei Ying had already circled inside and was waiting outside for them.
Spotting Bai Xiaosheng, Lei Ying pulled him into a corner and directly said, "He’s inside, drinking with a young girl. You were right; I watched for just over ten seconds and saw his gaze fall on his wristwatch once, touching it. That watch isn’t valuable."
Bai Xiaosheng smiled upon hearing this.
"Lai Mo and Buchi are watching inside," Lei Ying said, "But the problem is, even if you know the item might be in that watch, how do you acquire it?"
Acquiring the item isn’t hard; doing so without alerting the opponent is challenging.
Stealing might retrieve the item, but it would alert the opponent, who would halt all actions to swiftly conceal related evidence.
If that happens, what they retrieve will be a useless proof.
The ideal situation is obtaining the item silently, without the opponent knowing.
But that seems almost impossible since the wristwatch is worn on the wrist, and its removal would certainly be noticed.
While Lei Ying was speaking, someone emerged from the bar; it was Lai Mo.
Seeing Bai Xiaosheng also arrive, Lai Mo couldn’t help but approach and say, "I had a clear glimpse of that man’s watch; it’s a smart watch released in North America. It has robust functions and can store data, so the item must be there. But, the watch reportedly has strong anti-theft features, linked to the user’s heartbeat. It monitors health conditions and triggers an alarm if it goes beyond ten meters from the user, not only creating a commotion but also sending alerts to another bound mobile user."
This means that if the watch exceeds ten meters from the old man, his companion will know, likely prompting a plan change.
"Impressive, indeed troublesome," Lei Ying murmured, looking at Bai Xiaosheng.
"How can we do this?" Lai Mo seemed at a loss.
One of the task conditions from the employer was not to alert the opponent, or else it would be considered a failure.
Lin Weiwei also looked at Bai Xiaosheng in frustration.
The situation seemed increasingly unmanageable.
"High technology, huh." Faced with everyone’s difficulty, Bai Xiaosheng instead showed a faint smile, "For now, keep an eye on things here; I’ll be back shortly, give me about a quarter of an hour. Don’t make any moves, let the old man leave if he wants, and don’t alert them."
With that, Bai Xiaosheng turned and left.
Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying were okay; Lai Mo stood stunned, watching Bai Xiaosheng departing, unable to resist asking the two beside him, "Where’s he going?"
Lei Ying confidently replied, "To come up with a plan."
"Still possible to have a plan?" Lai Mo seemed skeptical.
Lei Ying glanced in the direction of Bai Xiaosheng’s departure, his silhouette already out of sight; although Bai Xiaosheng seemed graceful, his pace wasn’t slow.
"If there’s only one possible plan, I think it would be through his ingenuity," Lei Ying said calmly.
...
Bai Xiaosheng returned to his room in the shortest time, took out his laptop, and connected it to his mobile phone.
Then, Bai Xiaosheng started typing away at the keyboard at lightning speed.
His pupils reflected the rapidly growing lines of code on the screen.
...
Inside the bar.
Lei Ying and the others sat in an unnoticed corner with a supporting column that nobody wanted to sit at, proving perfect for concealment; even Lei Ying’s large figure was securely hidden.
The group observed the old man while conversing in hushed tones.
"That old man has already switched through two female companions; didn’t expect he’s actually an old pervert," Lin Weiwei frowned in disgust.
"Men, no matter their age, tend to have consistent interests," Lai Mo laughed, seeing Lin Weiwei glance coldly at him, quickly suppressing his smile, "It’s indeed excessive; this white old man truly goes overboard, despite his dignified appearance."
Buchi murmured from the side, "Well, he didn’t force anyone; the last two young women voluntarily joined him for a drink."
Lai Mo quickly kicked this fool under the table.
Such nonchalance was inappropriate in front of these Asian beauties.
Lin Weiwei couldn’t be bothered with Buchi’s antics; she merely glanced at the entrance, murmuring, "Why isn’t he back yet?"
Buchi promptly turned to look as well, muttering, "Yeah, he’s been gone a while... surely over ten minutes."
Before the words were out, someone came from the rear and sat beside Lin Weiwei.
Lin Weiwei jumped in surprise, focusing to realize it was Bai Xiaosheng.
"How did you come from behind?" Lin Weiwei asked in astonishment.
The others also looked at Bai Xiaosheng in curiosity.
"Took a shortcut down that staircase," Bai Xiaosheng chuckled.
Seeing his relaxed demeanor, Lei Ying’s expression shifted subtly, whispering, "Did you come up with a solution?"
Bai Xiaosheng smiled slightly and placed his phone on the table.
The group watched intently, puzzled by the action.
"I just installed a small program on it," Bai Xiaosheng explained, "In simple terms, it uses the phone’s nanocommunication function to create a copy."
The group was left bewildered by the explanation.
Lai Mo exclaimed, "Are you a super hacker?"
"No, I just found something online and played with programming in college," Bai Xiaosheng modestly replied.
Despite their seemingly dull appearances, Lai Mo and Buchi didn’t quite believe that statement.
"But, will it work?" Lai Mo frowned.
Even if Bai Xiaosheng was skilled, could an untested program truly accomplish replication?
It sounded incredible.
Not just him, but Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying also expressed skepticism.
What if the watch had encrypted firmware?
"Now’s not the time for discussions; why not try it," Bai Xiaosheng smiled, pointing to Lai Mo and Buchi, "Next, we need a scene, and I’m upgrading you two as — the lead actors!"
