Fiewood confesses to being instigated by Cilio, the former Deputy Executive President of Zhenbei Group’s Africa region. Fiewood also implicates several other key figures in embezzling assets under Cilio's command, though Cilio denies these accusations and claims he is being framed. Bai Xiaosheng receives news that these individuals corroborate Fiewood's story. Bai Xiaosheng then approaches Hou Yuncheng for assistance with an unspecified plan.

In Mulango City's High Court, courtroom number six was under heightened security starting at 8 a.m. Even insiders within the court were only aware of a closed-door trial, with no further details known.

Bai Xiaosheng made his appearance around 9 a.m., accompanied by several key leaders from the Huaxia Business Group, including Hou Yuncheng.

The other members of the Huaxia Business Group were not present for this occasion.

This trial was conducted on the smallest possible scale. Apart from the accused, Cilio and Fiewood, and the victim, Bai Xiaosheng, the only individuals present were a select few leaders from the Huaxia Business Group, representatives from the Zhenbei Group, and a significant figure in the local business world, Mr. Brown, who happened to be Cilio’s father.

Only these individuals were in attendance.

Upon the arrival of Bai Xiaosheng and his entourage, the representatives from the Zhenbei Group were already seated, led by none other than Wen Yan.

Mr. Brown was also present, along with the African Regional Executive President, Mr. Tike.

Bai Xiaosheng and Hou Yuncheng acknowledged the assembled group, approached them, and exchanged greetings with Wen Yan and Mr. Brown.

"Mr. Bai, it is a relief to see you unharmed. Headquarters considers this matter with great seriousness and has specifically assigned me to attend this trial. I will also expedite the relevant decisions once the verdict is delivered."

Beyond expressing his concern for Bai Xiaosheng's well-being, Wen Yan also clearly articulated the reason for his attendance.

Had Mr. Brown not been present, these words might have been received differently.

However, with Mr. Brown in attendance and aware that his son Cilio was implicated in the trial, Wen Yan's statement carried a more profound implication for those with keen perception.

Tike couldn't refrain from casting a cautious glance toward Mr. Brown.

Mr. Brown maintained an impassive demeanor, acting as if Wen Yan's words had not registered, showing no discernible reaction.

In reality, Mr. Brown found himself in a position where he had little to say; like a wounded tiger, he was merely attempting to project an image of strength.

"I truly appreciate your effort, Mr. Wen Yan, for making this journey," Bai Xiaosheng conveyed his sincere gratitude for Wen Yan's presence.

"The accomplishments you have demonstrated, Mr. Bai, I shall certainly recommend for appropriate commendation from Headquarters," Wen Yan remarked with a smile.

These particular remarks seemed even more out of place with Mr. Brown standing nearby.

After all, this was Mr. Brown's dominion, and any issues arising from it inevitably reflected poorly on his reputation.

By commending Bai Xiaosheng's investigative abilities, Wen Yan was, in essence, publicly highlighting Mr. Brown's shortcomings.

Uttering such sentiments in this context undeniably served as a significant signal.

Mr. Brown’s expression remained unchanged. Tike, on the other hand, displayed a subtle sign of unease, though inwardly, he felt a surge of satisfaction.

Could this indicate that the Group headquarters had decided to cease tolerating Mr. Brown's position and intended to use this trial as an opportunity to oust him?

If this were the case, Tike couldn't help but feel a sense of inner jubilation.

"Mr. Wen Yan, you are too kind; I merely fulfilled my duties," Bai Xiaosheng responded with humility.

Bai Xiaosheng also seemed to sense the inappropriateness of discussing such matters in Mr. Brown's presence and, with a smile directed at Wen Yan, turned to Mr. Brown to deftly shift the conversation away from the awkward subject.

"Mr. Brown." Bai Xiaosheng offered a warm greeting, displaying no trace of resentment or dissatisfaction regarding Cilio's previous actions against him.

"Mr. Bai." Mr. Brown regarded Bai Xiaosheng, his thoughts unreadable, offering only a blank nod.

Mr. Brown experienced no guilt regarding his son's conduct towards Bai Xiaosheng, nor did he harbor any animosity stemming from Bai Xiaosheng having reportedly 'harmed' his son; instead, a general, detached coolness permeated his demeanor, clearly signaling a disinclination for further conversation.

This attitude contributed to a palpable sense of awkwardness.

Wen Yan maintained his silence.

Tike, however, offered a brief, apologetic smile in Bai Xiaosheng's direction but refrained from speaking further due to Mr. Brown's presence.

At this juncture, numerous individuals began to stream into the courtroom, encompassing judges and court clerks, indicating the full complement of staff had arrived.

Furthermore, high-ranking political figures made their appearance, immediately engaging in discussions with Hou Yuncheng and others.

"It appears we are about to commence," Bai Xiaosheng observed. "Mr. Wen Yan, Mr. Brown, my designated seat is over there, so I shall proceed."

Both Wen Yan and Mr. Brown inclined their heads in acknowledgment.

Bai Xiaosheng then directed a smile toward Tike before turning to depart.

Wen Yan watched Bai Xiaosheng withdraw, then gestured politely to Mr. Brown before returning to his own seat.

"Mr. Brown, what are your thoughts on this trial?" Wen Yan inquired casually, seemingly growing impatient with the wait.

"The law is impartial; as for the facts and the eventual outcome, how could my personal opinion possibly influence them?" Mr. Brown responded with an indifferent tone.

This elder statesman, even towards Wen Yan, refused to concede, perhaps signifying a loss of hope and a surrender to despair?

Tike remained standing silently at the side, lost in somber contemplation.

This sudden group accusation from Fiewood and several other business leaders, the old man maintained no suspicion, did he really believe his son could gather a large group of corporate executives like this? Did he never suspect that there was a problem behind this, not even... himself?

Tike was always wary of Mr. Brown.

Yet, even if Mr. Brown had suspicions, "facts" speak louder than words. Fiewood’s staunch allies wouldn’t betray him lightly, especially since he had dirt on them. So long as they accused Cilio, the court’s recognition of Cilio’s issues would make everything conclusive.

No matter how stubborn Mr. Brown was, it was useless!

Moreover, it seemed Wen Yan no longer offered him any face; does this imply the end of Mr. Brown’s era, and the rise of the great Tike era?

Tike’s excitement began to overshadow his concerns.

Mr. Brown, who had been passive, suddenly began speaking to Wen Yan, "After this trial, is Mr. Wen truly going to immediately issue a decision? No delay?"

Wen Yan nodded, "Headquarters’ decision, it’s my duty, regardless of who the issue involves this time, I have the authority to make immediate decisions."

Mr. Brown said nothing, merely nodded.

Tike glanced surreptitiously at them, then turned his gaze toward the courtroom, unable to resist a subtle smile.

Soon, the trial officially commenced.

The first to come forth was Fiewood, who firmly testified that his actions were under Cilio’s instructions, even being able to provide eyewitnesses to their meetings.

Following him, Fiewood brought in eight or nine company heads as witnesses; despite Mr. Brown’s presence causing some visible unease, they consistently accused Cilio of buying them off, and clandestinely committing acts for personal gain, corroborating Fiewood’s claims.

They could also furnish some compelling evidence.

"Nonsense, all of you are talking nonsense!" Cilio, also present, furiously roared.

The presiding judge immediately issued a stern warning, stating that further outbursts in court from Cilio would incur more severe penalties.

Ultimately, Cilio was left to seethe in silence.

All these testimonies and evidence had been meticulously arranged by Tike, with no room for error.

Judging purely by this incident, Fiewood’s actions could lead to several months in jail in Lekram; his other business misconducts would require separate investigations.

Below, Wen Yan instructed his entourage to note, "Fiewood must be suspended and thoroughly investigated, and those corporate heads who testified all have questions surrounding them and must be scrutinized."

Beside him, Tike internally scoffed.

He was fully prepared and coordinating from behind the scenes; further investigation would only incriminate Cilio further!

Shortly after, Cilio was brought to the witness stand.

He was the main focus of today’s trial; if he had impulsively attacked Bai Xiaosheng, it would result in several months of imprisonment. If he had orchestrated two assaults, it would be considered premeditated, changing the nature of the charges.

Additionally, he was also suspected of attempting to frame others.

With multiple charges, at least five years would be the minimum sentence.

When Cilio appeared, everyone turned their attention towards him, with varied expressions and myriad thoughts.

Tike’s eyes shimmered with a cold smile, "You were arrogant and humiliated me numerous times, now I’ll let you pay it all back!"

Bai Xiaosheng also looked at Cilio, his eyes briefly flickering.

Beside him, Hou Yuncheng suddenly leaned over and whispered something to Bai Xiaosheng, "I conveyed your request. They agreed."

Though Bai Xiaosheng had anticipated this, he still smiled and replied softly, "Thank you very much! As a return favor, I’ll treat you to a good show! Look, it’s already underway!"
