Inheritance of Two Trillion Chapter 2451 - 1821: The Unfathomable Human Heart (Part 2)
Previously on Inheritance of Two Trillion...
Tike possessed an extraordinary awareness; any disturbance occurring below, he would immediately perceive.
"I am merely extending a helping hand," Caroline admitted with a laugh, adding, "If Bai Xiaosheng continues his investigation, he is bound to cross paths with Brown. Regardless of the outcome, I shall be pleased. Should Brown and his son be utterly vanquished, you will inevitably ascend to lead the group’s Africa region! At that juncture, would you not owe me gratitude?"
Gratitude? You cunning old fox! Were it not for your machinations, I would never have realized the extent of your influence within my own ranks! Even if I do attain leadership of the Africa region, it is only a matter of time before you scheme to remove me from power!
Tike exhaled slowly and deeply through his nose, his voice resonating with gravity, "My thanks! However, I have already implemented my own comprehensive and seamless arrangements for this situation. Therefore, your personnel’s intervention is no longer required."
"As you wish," Caroline stated plainly over the phone. "Our ultimate objectives align."
"Then, instruct your people to withdraw," Tike insisted.
Caroline responded with indifference, "There is no need. Personnel are merely resources; I have an abundance of them. Simply concoct a reason and dismiss them. I shall use their incompetence as justification to prune these superfluous individuals. Mm, this will also result in considerable savings."
This woman is capable of such pronouncements; she is practically a creature devoid of emotion!
What is truly perplexing is that individuals still clamor to work under her banner...
"Very well, I shall handle them," Tike replied with a cold edge to his voice.
Given Caroline’s apparent lack of concern, he certainly would not trouble himself over those individuals.
"Is there anything else? If not, I intend to proceed with my maintenance regimen," Caroline announced over the phone. "A woman’s most formidable adversary is the passage of time."
Tike paused momentarily before stating in a deep tone, "Regarding this Bai Xiaosheng, are you certain he will persist with his inquiries? Will he remain fixated on the Brown father and son even after the group headquarters has rendered a decision?"
Tike's primary apprehension stemmed from Bai Xiaosheng’s limited backing. If their meticulously laid plans were to be thwarted by Bai Xiaosheng’s yielding, it would be utterly infuriating.
Although Fiewood assured that all was progressing according to plan and results were imminent, Tike harbored a suspicion that the reality was far from smooth.
He also harbored doubts about whether Bai Xiaosheng would even dare to persevere.
"Rest assured, despite his youth, the man is no ordinary individual. Once he sets his sights on a goal, he never wavers. Furthermore, he shows no deference even to the deputy director; a mere Mr. Brown cannot compel him to yield," Caroline’s words carried a notable appreciation for Bai Xiaosheng. "It is a pity that such a person is fated not to serve under me! And he has chosen a path that places him in opposition to us! However, in this instance, he has inadvertently become our most potent ‘enforcer’! I can assure you with certainty, this individual will present a formidable challenge to anyone he encounters! The more subdued he appears now, the more diligently he is preparing for a significant offensive. Once he strikes, the repercussions will be devastating!"
Tike listened intently before erupting into laughter.
"You doubt my words?" Caroline inquired, detecting the amusement in Tike's tone.
"I simply find it amusing that you hold the Bai fellow in such high esteem," Tike chuckled. "And indeed, he is likely the sole individual who has ever managed to unsettter you, Caroline."
Even Tike, who consistently maintained a subtle dominance over Caroline, chose this precise moment to expose a vulnerability.
Caroline’s breathing hitched audibly, as if an unpleasant sentiment were beginning to stir within her.
"Very well, our conversation has concluded. Let us converse again another time," Tike declared his momentary triumph, concluded with a parting remark, and abruptly ended the call, a smug smile gracing his lips.
On the other end, Caroline gazed coldly at her phone, casually placed it on the table beside her, and muttered, "That scoundrel dares to mock me! Hmph, it appears he underestimates Bai Xiaosheng…"
Caroline took a silent, deep breath and let out a cold laugh. "Therefore, sooner or later, you may find yourself ensnared by Bai Xiaosheng, Tike. And then, we shall observe if your inclination to laugh persists!"
...
On that particular evening, precisely at ten o’clock.
Lin Weiwei contacted Lei Ying and together they sought out Bai Xiaosheng once more. The reason for their visit was not arbitrary; rather, Matilda had dispatched another email late into the night.
In addition to the appended documentation, Matilda conveyed her commendation for Lin Weiwei’s astute foresight within the email.
She had, in fact, unearthed a document that bore relevance to the preceding files.
"They are already impatiently delivering materials to us. I believe your strategy of waiting and observing, Xiaosheng, has stirred up significant anxiety among some individuals." Lin Weiwei found the unfolding situation quite entertaining. "I'm uncertain about the mastermind behind this. Is it Caroline orchestrating from afar across continents, or perhaps someone attempting to frame Cilio? What are your thoughts on Tike, the executive director for the Africa region? I doubt it's him. Undermining his own subordinate offers no advantage. Furthermore, I've heard that Mr. Brown is endorsing him for the position of business director in the Africa region. If Mr. Brown faces trouble at this crucial moment, it would be detrimental to his prospects."
Lin Weiwei was unaware that even if Tike ascended with Mr. Brown's backing, the individuals surrounding him would still be Brown's loyalists. Tike might lack true autonomy, potentially becoming a mere figurehead to protect Cilio, the future executive director of the Africa region.
An individual might endure and feign timidity for years, yet their ultimate ambition would never be to maintain that subservience even from a position of power.
"Considering the current developments, I believe Matilda must realize that we are openly requesting materials. The fact that she continues to supply them without any attempt to conceal her actions suggests her 'superiors' have been too slow to act and are growing impatient," Lei Ying scoffed.
