The erroneous content projected on the screen was quickly corrected by a female secretary. Fiewood, the General Manager of Yorko Company, continued his presentation after a brief apology. Meanwhile, Bai Xiaosheng, Lin Weiwei, and Lei Ying discussed the misplayed document, suspecting it to be an internal investigation report. They considered approaching the secretary, Matilda, as a potential way to obtain more information.

Fiewood showcased the available tour options upon a large display screen.

The initial eight tour selections corresponded to eight distinct locales, each with a designated vice president ready and waiting. Should any guests express interest in a particular project, specialized staff would escort them, and a vice president from Yorko Company would provide an introduction right at the location.

This approach granted visitors enhanced liberty, discerning choices, and concentrated viewing—allowing them to precisely select what they desired to observe.

Furthermore, it effectively prevented the squandering of time and unnecessary expenditure of energy.

Bai Xiaosheng observed with keen attention and found several items particularly engaging, making a mental note of them.

As multiple doorways flanking the auditorium swung open, formations of staff clad in formal attire entered, all prepared to guide the visitors. Each guest was assigned a personal guide. The guests could directly request their assigned staff member to lead them to any desired item, as these staff members carried comprehensive lists of the tour offerings for immediate reference.

Fiewood also remained occupied, tasked with escorting the primary guests to the lounge area and managing their hospitality arrangements.

To expedite matters, the guests collectively stood and proceeded to explore the specific projects that had captured their interest.

All attendees were presently within the Yorko Building; the manufacturing facility and its production lines were integrated within the same complex, situated in close proximity, which greatly facilitated visits to various sections.

Under the guidance of a strikingly handsome young African man, Bai Xiaosheng and his two companions set a direct course for a particular tour destination.

They were the sole trio heading to this specific site. This was not due to a lack of interest from others, but rather because the remaining guests opted to visit different projects initially; it was a curiously amusing turn of events.

Nevertheless, Bai Xiaosheng appreciated the tranquility of their journey.

The young guide exhibited remarkable professionalism, maintaining a quiet demeanor and speaking minimally. He was capable of uttering simple Chinese phrases, such as "hello," though his comprehension level remained uncertain. Given the presence of numerous individuals nearby, Bai Xiaosheng and his companions chose to forgo any discussions of a confidential nature in Chinese.

Bai Xiaosheng even subtly advised Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying to exercise discretion in their conversations, avoiding any inappropriate topics to circumvent potential complications.

Upon reaching the designated inspection site, they were met by a vice president who had been specifically awaiting their arrival. This executive offered a warm welcome to Bai Xiaosheng and his party, presented the relevant technologies and equipment, and addressed all inquiries with an air of genuine approachability.

Bai Xiaosheng also raised questions concerning certain management strategies, and the vice president responded with considerable openness.

As the vice president articulated his points, Bai Xiaosheng could distinctly perceive an underlying current of conviction, coupled with a palpable sense of pride and even haughtiness. It was as if he firmly believed Yorko Company stood unparalleled and feared others were unaware of this supposed superiority.

Bai Xiaosheng diligently recorded the information he sought, feeling a significant sense of contentment.

Indeed, upon his arrival, Bai Xiaosheng had been pondering whether the general manager, Fiewood, had briefed the vice presidents about him, potentially prompting them to adopt a cautious and evasive stance regarding business matters during their presentations.

It now appeared his earlier apprehension was unfounded.

The vice president, while acknowledging Bai Xiaosheng's reputation and affording him a degree of respect, provided detailed and comprehensive explanations without any apparent attempts at obfuscation.

"This is excellent; now I can explore further and see more locations!" Bai Xiaosheng mused inwardly.

Following the conclusion of their visit to that particular site, Bai Xiaosheng expeditiously made his way to the subsequent one.

En route, they encountered other members of the business delegation. Brief greetings were exchanged before each group dispersed to pursue the destinations of their individual interest.

Spanning from the main building to the factory floor, Bai Xiaosheng and his companions dedicated two hours to their exploration, having viewed five of the eight available tour selections.

Finally, sensing he had gathered sufficient information, Bai Xiaosheng requested the young African guide to escort them back toward the main building.

Upon their return, they proceeded not to the auditorium, but to the designated hospitality lounge.

By the time Bai Xiaosheng arrived, several familiar individuals were already engaged in conversation within the lounge, and they offered greetings as he entered.

Bai Xiaosheng returned their greetings courteously and then led Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying to a more secluded area, contemplating the possibility of having a private discussion.

However, just as they settled into their seats, and before Bai Xiaosheng could initiate any conversation, Lin Weiwei quietly rose and moved towards the exit.

"Where are you heading?" Bai Xiaosheng inquired, a note of curiosity in his voice.

"I just need to use the restroom," Lin Weiwei replied in a hushed tone.

Bai Xiaosheng felt a touch of awkwardness, an emotion mirrored by Lin Weiwei as she departed in haste.

Once outside the lounge, Lin Weiwei surveyed her surroundings, intending to seek directions.

"Miss, is there anything I can assist you with?" a soft voice inquired from behind her.

Lin Weiwei turned, surprised to find the speaker was an attractive woman of mixed ethnicity, whom she recognized from earlier—the same individual who had faced a mishap during the meeting.

"I'm looking for the restroom," Lin Weiwei responded with a smile. Being of the same gender, she felt a natural ease in conversing with the woman.

"I’ll escort you there," the woman offered, a somewhat strained smile gracing her lips, her expression betraying an inner turmoil.

"Certainly," Lin Weiwei agreed instantly, returning the smile.

One after the other, they proceeded towards the corridor's termination.

As they walked, Lin Weiwei observed the woman's retreating figure and felt a surge of empathy. She quickened her steps, drawing level with her, and beamed.

"Pardon me, are you perhaps Mr. Fiewood’s secretary?" Lin Weiwei inquired, noting the flicker of surprise in the woman’s eyes. She then added with a light chuckle, "I recall seeing you in the audience during the meeting."

A spark lit up in the woman’s eyes, and after a moment's pause, she nodded. "Yes, I am one of Mr. Fiewood’s secretaries. My name is Matilda."

"Matilda, what a beautiful name," Lin Weiwei conveyed with a warm smile.

Matilda offered a weak smile in return but remained silent.

Undeterred, Lin Weiwei continued to engage her in conversation as they moved along. She probed about Matilda's age, remarking with amusement that they were quite close in years. She inquired about siblings, revealing that, like her, Matilda was an only child. Lin Weiwei even shared that she too had clerical experience, admitting to making her share of mistakes.

Through years of practice, Lin Weiwei had become adept at various conversational stratagems. She possessed a natural talent for connecting with others, effortlessly dissolving any interpersonal barriers.

After approximately five to six minutes had passed, Matilda was actively participating in the discourse.

Before long, they arrived at a restroom facility.

However, a sign indicating "Cleaning in Progress" was displayed prominently outside.

"No matter, I shall speak with the attendant," Matilda assured Lin Weiwei with a smile before stepping inside.

A short while later, Matilda emerged, accompanied by a female cleaner. The cleaner offered a respectful, slight bow to Lin Weiwei, gathered her equipment, removed the sign, and departed.

"Come, I might as well freshen up my appearance," Matilda suggested with a smile to Lin Weiwei.

The initial distance between them began to noticeably recede.

Lin Weiwei observed that Matilda appeared somewhat worn and weary, prompting her to ask with genuine concern, "Are you feeling alright?"

"I am fine," Matilda responded, a smile playing on her lips.

Yet, the smile was undeniably strained.

Lin Weiwei offered a reciprocal smile and entered the restroom without further comment.

Upon exiting, but before reaching the washbasin, Lin Weiwei detected faint sounds of weeping. Intrigued, she stepped back into the restroom to find Matilda facing the mirror, her hands covering her face as she cried, clearly overcome with emotion.

"Matilda, what has happened?" Lin Weiwei inquired, moving swiftly towards her.

Matilda offered no verbal reply, continuing her quiet weeping. Though subdued, her sobs carried an air of profound sorrow.

Lin Weiwei immediately began offering words of solace, repeatedly trying to comfort her.

Finally, amidst her tears, Matilda managed to speak, "Lin, I fear… I might be terminated…"

"Is this due to the error made during the meeting?" Lin Weiwei’s realization dawned.

"Yes!" Matilda exclaimed, her distress palpable. "Mr. Fiewood’s second-in-command, Mr. Harvey, has already informed me that I must leave by month's end, with compensation for my salary. However, I have no desire to depart. I have been with this company since the tenure of the former general manager; a full five years! I do not wish to go…"

The woman spoke with deep sadness, burying her face in Lin Weiwei’s shoulder as she cried. Her sobs were not loud, but her tears flowed freely, wetting Lin Weiwei's clothing and conveying her genuine heartbreak.

Flustered, Lin Weiwei spent a considerable amount of time attempting to console her, yet the flow of tears persisted.

Although Lin Weiwei was a woman herself, she had never witnessed such an outpouring of tears from another.

Fortunately, this particular restroom was newly opened and saw very little foot traffic.

As Lin Weiwei continued her efforts to soothe Matilda, she overheard her speaking in a tone mixed with determination and grievance, "The mistake I made had a reason. I worked an all-night shift yesterday and was utterly exhausted; it was not an intentional act. But they refuse to hear my explanation. They are all cruel individuals; I detest them…"

Unable to offer further consolation, Lin Weiwei gently detached Matilda, looked at the tear-streaked face, and suggested, "If that is indeed the situation, perhaps it would be best for you to seek employment elsewhere."

"But, but the benefits here are so excellent, I genuinely do not want to leave," Matilda replied, her voice laced with surprise and ongoing sobs.

Upon hearing this, a sudden idea sparked in Lin Weiwei's mind. She looked directly at Matilda and proposed, "I may be able to find you a more suitable position. Would you be willing to consider it?"

"Ah…" Matilda gazed at Lin Weiwei, astonishment evident on her face, and murmured, "A more suitable position…"

Meeting Matilda's gaze, Lin Weiwei stated with utmost seriousness, "However, you must first do me a significant favor!"
