Immortality Through Array Formations Chapter 2042 Chapter 977: Changing Fate

Previously on Immortality Through Array Formations...
Mo Hua reflects on his breakthrough to Twenty Patterns of Divine Thought, curious how Elder Master Xun perceived his silent advancement. Following the Elder Master's warning, he resolves to keep his Golden Core-level Divine Sense a secret to avoid unwanted attention. Looking ahead, he plans to master Ultimate Formations and reorganize his complex Divine Thought structure while preparing for unresolved matters at Solitary Mountain City. Despite his growing power, a sense of nostalgia settles over him as he realizes his time at the academy is drawing to a close.

A short while later, Mo Hua made his way to the small garden located outside the Disciple's Residence to check on the large white dog.

The creature was currently dozing off.

As Mo Hua approached, the dog suddenly jolted awake and leaped up. Upon recognizing Mo Hua, it merely stuck out its tongue and prepared to settle back down for its nap.

However, before it could fully recline, the large white dog rose slowly once more. It fixed its large eyes on Mo Hua, sniffing intently at the scent clinging to him.

Suddenly, as if realizing something terrifying, it began to shiver. Its white fur stood straight up on end as it stared at Mo Hua, looking completely shell-shocked.

It perceived that Mo Hua had grown stronger—excessively so.

Between itself and Mo Hua, there now existed a barrier of intimidating thickness.

The large white dog stood frozen in the wind like a clay statue, utterly dazed.

Finding the reaction amusing, Mo Hua pulled out a bone and tossed it toward the animal.

It was, on the surface, a mere bone.

The large white dog gave a cold snort, initially appearing reluctant. However, after a few moments, the potent demonic aura emanating from the bone reached its nose. Its eyes instantly lit up, and drool began to leak from its mouth.

Mo Hua had specially crafted this bone.

Hidden inside was a segment sealed by a Divine Formation—a piece of a demon he had intercepted from a nightmare while he occupied the throne of the Evil God.

Mo Hua had previously promised to bring "good food" for the dog, so whenever the opportunity arose, he saved portions of demons for it to feast upon.

As the large white dog gnawed on the bone and absorbed the demon, its tail began to wag vigorously. The barrier of fear in its heart slowly dissolved, and it once again viewed Mo Hua as a "good friend."

Mo Hua reached out to pat the thick white fur on its neck.

In response, the large dog nudged Mo Hua affectionately with its massive head.

Nearby in the garden, the Taixu Sect Master held his book, staring blankly at the scene. He found the entire interaction increasingly incomprehensible.

...

Feeling satisfied after feeding the dog, Mo Hua returned to his quarters.

The following day was a scheduled rest day.

Sticking to his plan, Mo Hua paid a visit to the Taoist Court to meet with Xia Inspector, a powerful figure in the Feather Transformation Realm.

Hailing from the prestigious Xia family, Xia Inspector served as an official within the Central Dao Court, wielding immense status and authority. Given his heavy workload, he was not someone an ordinary person could hope to meet easily.

Nevertheless, upon learning of Mo Hua’s arrival, he declined several invitations from prominent families and Sects to meet with the boy personally.

"Greetings, Master Xia," Mo Hua said with a respectful bow.

"Hello," Xia Inspector replied warmly, gesturing with his hand. "Little brother, please have a seat."

A table and chair were positioned beside him, with a freshly brewed cup of tea waiting on the table.

The furniture appeared modest, and the tea had a faint, bland flavor.

Yet, this was the private office of Xia Inspector.

Even the leaders of medium-sized organizations were typically not permitted to sit here; they would be required to stand while answering the Inspector's questions, let alone be offered a cup of tea.

Mo Hua didn't dwell on these status markers. He sat down calmly, took a sip of the tea, and scanned the room while thinking to himself:

This Xia Inspector seems to be quite an honest official.

The office was only slightly more spacious than Uncle Gu’s, featuring simple decorations and a nearly identical layout.

Of course, this was a public office of the Taoist Court. Whether he was corrupt in his private life was still a mystery.

Mo Hua took another leisurely sip of his tea.

Xia Inspector watched Mo Hua in silence, noting the boy’s composed behavior as he enjoyed his tea within the halls of the Dao Court.

Despite facing a high-ranking Inspector, Mo Hua remained respectful without being subservient. He showed no hints of anxiety or dread, which caused Xia Inspector to sigh inwardly with admiration.

He truly was an extraordinary talent being raised under the guidance of the Taixu Sect Master, exhibiting such grace and poise at such a young age.

Xia Inspector nodded slightly, took a sip of his own tea, and spoke slowly. "Little brother, what is the reason for your visit?"

Mo Hua went straight to the heart of the matter: "It concerns the Shen family."

Even with his vast experience, Xia Inspector’s eyes narrowed slightly.

He had not anticipated that Mo Hua would be so blunt, approaching him directly to discuss the situation regarding the Shen family.

"Master Xia," Mo Hua whispered, "You are likely already aware that I visited the Shen family’s mine, aren't you?"

Xia Inspector paused for a moment before giving a nod.

The troubles surrounding the Shen family had occupied nearly all of his focus over the last few days.

Through his connections in the Taoist Court, he knew the catalyst for the recent chaos was the kidnapping of two disciples by a Tomb Robber, who took them into the abandoned mines of the Shen family.

The subsequent entry of various parties led to the violent outbreak.

The two "kidnapped" disciples were Shen Qingsheng and Mo Hua himself.

However, because of Mo Hua's background, the Inspector had been unable to conduct a deep investigation.

Furthermore, the Taixu Sect had been quietly suppressing information regarding Mo Hua under the direction of Elder Master Xun, maintaining an air of outward tranquility.

Any attempt to investigate further would have resulted in a dead end.

Mo Hua could guess that Elder Master Xun was shielding him from behind the scenes in ways he couldn't see.

But hiding the truth forever wasn't a permanent fix.

No secret can stay buried indefinitely.

Mo Hua felt the need to resolve these issues himself by engaging with influential figures like Xia Inspector.

"Master Xia, do you wish to know the truth of what transpired beneath those mines?" Mo Hua asked softly.

After considering it for a moment, Xia Inspector nodded.

He certainly wanted the truth.

He had collected various reports regarding the events at Solitary Mountain.

However, the information was often biased, incomplete, and murky, failing to provide the full reality of the situation.

The deeper secrets remained hidden.

But would Mo Hua really just reveal everything to him?

While Xia Inspector was deep in thought, Mo Hua simply took another sip of tea, cleared his throat, and began to recount the entire story from start to finish.
