Immortality Through Array Formations Chapter 2031 - 973: Destroying the Evidence (2)

Previously on Immortality Through Array Formations...
Mo Hua successfully secures Lord Yellow Mountain’s Lifebound Divine Statue, relying on its divine concealment to hide it from others as Elder Xun carries it out. As they prepare to depart the temple, they witness Mr. Tu brutally execute Shen Shouxing, ending the life of the man responsible for the tragedy at Solitary Mountain City. Although Mo Hua considers commanding his Golden Core companions to kill Mr. Tu to reclaim the Four Symbols Green Dragon Formation, a sudden, dark premonition warns him that doing so would lead to Elder Xun’s tragic death. Sensing the immediate danger, Mo Hua abandons the pursuit of the treasure and urgently insists that the group flee the tomb at once.

Mo Hua panted for air before speaking with urgency:

"Let’s go!"

If Elder Xun actually killed this Mr. Tu, he might become entangled in mysterious karma and perish.

Noticing Mo Hua’s grave expression, Xun Ziyou felt a surge of tension. In the vastness of heaven and earth, nothing was more vital than Mo Hua’s safety. Realizing it wasn't the time to invite further trouble, he gave an obedient nod:

"Alright."

The group ceased their hesitation. At Mo Hua’s insistence, they turned and departed without looking back.

Mr. Tu stood watching their retreating figures, lost in thought.

"Should I release the Evil Path seal and slaughter them all within the depths of this Solitary Mountain..."

"That Sword Dao Elder might be too difficult to slay, but that little Foundation Establishment brat is quite peculiar. It might be best to eliminate him now to avoid future complications..."

"Catch them and kill..."

Mr. Tu could not stop himself from stepping forward.

Suddenly, a massive rumble shook the earth and the mountains trembled, accompanied by the repeated roar of fiery explosions.

"The Shen Family? Have they started their move?"

Mr. Tu’s brow furrowed, a secret resentment bubbling within him.

Everything had been calculated to perfection, yet an unforeseen variable appeared at the final moment. The Divine Lord’s Divine Fetus had vanished, stripping Solitary Mountain of its protection and causing the evil fog to lift, exposing the hidden karma.

The Shen Family had clearly deduced the secrets hidden within this place.

It wasn't just the Shen Family; other noble clans and various Sects had likely caught the scent and were converging.

"Forget it, I have already obtained what I required."

Mr. Tu’s bloodthirsty eyes swept across the area as he spoke coldly, "When the Divine Lord finally descends, every soul will perish. Whether they die today or later makes no difference..."

With those words, his human demon shell contorted. New human skin sprouted as he transformed into a common-looking Shen Family Elder, striding toward the exit of the shrine.

...

Within the mass grave.

Xun Ziyou and his companions lurked in the shadows, watching a contingent of Shen Family cultivators.

These cultivators were busy setting up fire formations and igniting fire talismans inside the pit, using various flame techniques to incinerate the corpses piled there.

Blazes erupted everywhere, sending thick plumes of smoke into the air.

The surroundings were filled with the signs of fiery blasts and rampaging infernos.

As the bodies burned, the foul-smelling smoke was swept away by the effects of a Clear Rain Formation.

The Shen Family was wiping away the evidence!

Master Gu seethed with internal fury, thinking bitterly: "The Shen Family truly has no conscience left."

Fan Jin shook his head, frowning as he surveyed the large number of Shen Family cultivators: "There are too many of them... do we have to fight our way out?"

Xun Ziyou shook his head in disagreement. "There are too many people to engage directly. We must find a way to slip out unnoticed..."

Initiating a fight would only draw a swarm of Shen Family Golden Core cultivators to trap them.

The family was currently burning the remains of the mining cultivators to hide their tracks, terrified that their secrets might be revealed.

If the group were discovered, the Shen Family would stop at nothing to silence them permanently.

Fortunately, the mass grave was enormous and filled with countless corpses, making the "cleanup" a massive undertaking.

The Shen Family’s attention was entirely consumed by the cremation, leaving them distracted.

Combined with the constant explosions and scattered flames, the chaos provided a perfect opportunity to escape.

Xun Ziyou located a small, isolated group of Shen Family members and moved in for the kill.

Those tasked with destroying evidence were surely the Shen Family’s trusted inner circle and were undoubtedly involved in the mine atrocities; none were innocent. Consequently, Xun Ziyou showed them no mercy.

After slaying several of them, he stripped them of their robes and Shen Family tokens. Their bodies were tossed into the pit and ignited with fire talismans, merging them with the burning miners.

The group then donned the stolen robes, disguising themselves as Shen Family cultivators to blend into the bustling crowd leaving the tomb.

Xun Ziyou was a Sect Elder, Fan Jin a supervisor, and Master Gu ran a refinery; none of them were ordinary men.

Xun Ziyou, in particular, possessed a commanding aura. Clad in the Shen Family Taoist robes and radiating the pressure of a late Golden Core stage expert, no one dared to question him.

The only one at risk of being caught was Mo Hua.

Being short of stature, the Shen Family Taoist robes were far too large for him, with the hem dragging across the ground.

However, because the tomb was dimly lit and filled with swirling smoke and fire, Mo Hua remained unnoticed while walking between Xun Ziyou and the others.

He chose not to use any concealment techniques.

There were too many Shen Family Golden Core cultivators present, many with Divine Sense superior to his own. Using a technique would only draw suspicion if he were sensed.

It was safer to hide in plain sight.

Under Xun Ziyou’s lead, they acted as Shen Family members, casually tossing fire talismans and setting formations to add to the confusion before looking for a chance to slip away.

Mo Hua occasionally added to the turmoil, secretly causing the Shen Family’s formations to explode.

At other times, he stealthily tampered with the formation patterns, causing them to malfunction and "accidentally" injure the Shen Family’s own men.

The scene grew increasingly frantic.

Amidst this disorder, Xun Ziyou guided Mo Hua and the others out of the mass grave and toward the upper tomb path.

Once they reached the path, the escape became easier.

Mo Hua had already mapped this route with his compass and was intimately familiar with it.

Thus, Mo Hua quietly led the way, navigating Xun Ziyou and the others around the main force of Shen Family cultivators.

Anyone they couldn't avoid was dealt with swiftly and silently.

Gradually, they approached the exit of the tomb.

The main entrance was heavily guarded by Shen Family cultivators, making a clean exit impossible.

After a moment of thought, Mo Hua found a section of the path half a mile away and dismantled a formation. Xun Ziyou then used his Golden Core strength to shatter the stone wall, allowing them to exit the Solitary Mountain tomb.

Even outside, Shen Family members were everywhere.

However, because of the constant explosions and the mountain-shaking work being done below to destroy evidence, the sound of the wall breaking didn't seem out of place.
