The Ghost Train kept shuttling through the void within Tianshui City. In reality, it was still within the city limits and could not travel too far away.
Otherwise, Houtu’s ability would stop working.
The power of the curse alone could not restrain the Gatekeeper of the Underworld to any significant degree.
Although the first stage of Divine Path of Heaven did not deal any direct damage, this kind of binding power was crucial.
Without that layer of shackles, Zhang Yi and the others would face a much greater risk of being killed in an instant.
“Let’s create an opening! I can see it now. The only one who can hurt the Gatekeeper of the Underworld is Gouchen!”
After speaking, Zhang Yi looked back at Li Changgong behind him.
Li Changgong looked a little awkward. At that moment, he wanted nothing more than to point at himself and make a bewildered face.
“If I can be sure there’s an opening, I’ll strike!”
Before he realized it, a bead of cold sweat had trickled down the side of his face.
If he got close to Black Armor, he would be killed in an instant if anything went wrong!
Whether he survived would depend on how well Zhang Yi and Shang Daowen managed to defend him.
Zhang Yi exhaled, his gaze turning sharp.
“Then let’s begin! We have to make him bleed as quickly as possible. If his patience runs out, we really won’t get another chance!”
The Gatekeeper of the Underworld was nowhere near using his full strength.
Zhang Yi had realized as much back when he fought Kami-musubi-no-Kami in Neon.
When subterranean creatures moved about on the surface, they had to restrict their own power.
The moment they broke through that limit, they would be wiped out by some mysterious and mighty force.
No one knew exactly where that limit lay.
That was precisely why Kami-musubi-no-Kami had been struck down by Heavenly Thunder after Zhang Yi stalled him for a while.
The Gatekeeper of the Underworld was also slowly releasing his power, since he did not know where the rules’ boundary lay.
During this time, however, Zhang Yi and the others had to give it everything they had!
Rumble!
The Ghost Train swept through the void, about to appear before the Gatekeeper of the Underworld once more.
Zhang Yi spoke over the comms channel. “Let’s begin! It’s time for our plan to work! Let them get a good taste of what life in the surface world is like.”
It was midnight, and the sky was dim. Yet the Lizardfolk could still see everything around them, thanks to their sensitivity to light and their advanced combat armor.
Outside Tianshui City, a silver motorcycle stood in the snow. Dressed in a silver combat suit, Deng Shentong leaned against it, his long hair flowing in the wind as he waited for someone’s signal.
When Zhang Yi’s signal came through, he smiled faintly. “All right, I understand!”
He stood up from the motorcycle and raised his head to gaze at the dark sky. Then, smiling, he slowly brought his hands together.
Now that he had reached the Epsilon-class, his strength still wasn’t enough for him to join the main battlefield.
However, the intelligence Big Chinchilla had provided had helped Zhang Yi discover the important role Deng Shentong could play in this battle.
A gentle glow quickly appeared between Deng Shentong’s palms. His entire body shone silver-white, as immaculate as an angel.
The light illuminated the darkness around him.
He slowly opened his hands. A tiny silver orb rose from his palm, shimmering softly.
“Go, Heavenly Dao Star!”
Deng Shentong raised both hands. The small white orb, solid as if it were real, shot into the sky and hovered above Tianshui City.
It was a moonless night.
Yet the silver orb radiated a silvery glow, like a silver moon hanging in the sky.
The sudden light brightened all of Tianshui City and the surrounding areas.
Everyone instinctively looked up at the sky.
The Transcendents of the Wuluan Empire had no idea what it was. But when Newton, Cadillus, and the others saw it, they smiled knowingly.
“Feel the malice of the surface dwellers, you lizards!”
The tiny silver orb, radiating a gentle light, suddenly grew scorching hot. In an instant, an intensely bright, searing light burst forth!
The silver moon became a colossal, blazing sun, burning fiercely in the sky. Its scorching heat and powerful ultraviolet rays swept in every direction!
There had been no sun in the sky, but now one had appeared, and it was more terrifying than the most blistering sun at midsummer noon!
Standing on the ground, Deng Shentong was connected to the blazing sun in the sky by a wispy strand of silver energy.
“Go, Zhang Yi! The rest is up to you!”
Deng Shentong said with a smile.
As the searing ultraviolet rays swept across the land, every Lizardfolk caught in the sunlight felt as if their bodies were about to burst into flames!
Even though they were all wearing the Wuluan Empire’s most advanced armor, designed to resist ultraviolet rays, the intense glare and the sections of their armor that could not completely block the light still made them feel as if they had stepped into a raging fire.
“What... is that?”
Even several Silver Armors struggled to stay calm. They couldn’t raise their heads to look directly at the blazing sun above them.
The humans had prepared in advance. Their combat suits were equipped with measures to shield them from intense light, and their goggles had switched to sunglasses mode.
Deng Shentong’s Heavenly Dao Star could cover a radius of more than a thousand kilometers!
Although it could not directly harm the Transcendents from Mist Valley, it gave the human soldiers across the entire battlefield an enormous advantage!
The Gatekeeper of the Underworld instinctively raised a hand to shield himself from the sunlight falling from above.
The mist could block the light, but even scattered light made him feel as if he were standing in a furnace. It was extremely uncomfortable.
“What kind of trick is this now? How laughable!”
The Gatekeeper of the Underworld scoffed.
Just then, the Ghost Train rumbled into view once more!
The instant he raised a hand to shield his eyes, Zhang Yi launched his attack.
He opened his right hand and curled it into a claw, as if he meant to crush the enemy before him. Then he shouted viciously, “Divine Domain Purification, break!”
A tremendous force centered on the Gatekeeper of the Underworld and crushed down hard, as if trying to pulverize him and squeeze him into a ball of flesh!
The terrifying force struck the Gatekeeper of the Underworld, making his body sway slightly. His muscles tensed.
“Oh? So that’s why you attacked like that. Interesting.”
“But it’s useless!”
The Gatekeeper of the Underworld laughed scornfully. Watching these ants throw everything they had at him struck him as utterly amusing.
One of Zhang Yi’s killing moves landed on him without damaging even an inch of his flesh!
“Sorry, but you’re not my target!”
Zhang Yi smiled instead.
The Gatekeeper of the Underworld suddenly noticed his armor crack with a sharp snap!
The armor on his right arm clattered to the ground.
His arm was exposed to the sunlight.
