Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies Chapter 1555: International Conference
Previously on Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies...
After Chaos's attack on Edo City.
Major organizations around the world convened an online conference, their virtual avatars gathered in a massive meeting hall to discuss the aftermath.
Representing the Huaxu Nation was Lu Chengyuan from Shengjing.
He was fifty-two this year, at the age when a man is most steady, experienced, and emotionally mature.
As each avatar appeared in midair, the attitudes of the world’s most powerful nations and factions coalesced.
The global order had already been shattered; a new configuration had taken shape.
The conference hall was arranged in tiers, expanding outward from a small central circle into concentric rings.
Sitting in the central circle were ten people, the recognized representatives of the ten most powerful forces in the world.
When Lu Chengyuan’s avatar appeared, everyone else had already assembled.
Today, the Huaxu Nation’s representative was the focus. After all, they bore primary responsibility for provoking the conflict.
After appearing, Lu Chengyuan politely nodded to the others in the hall, then leisurely took his seat.
The Neon representative immediately stood up to question him.
“The Huaxu Nation sent personnel to invade Neon territory and slaughtered a great number of Neon citizens! This is a blatant act of aggression. The Huaxu Nation must bear full responsibility!”
“I demand you hand over the chief perpetrators and compensate Neon for all losses!”
Lu Chengyuan heard this and allowed a contemptuous smile to twitch at the corner of his mouth.
Neon, after the apocalypse, had retained some military capability.
But after two large-scale conflicts, those forces had been nearly destroyed.
Especially their Transcendents, who had been eliminated one after another by Zhang Yi alone.
Now they held a seat at this conference in name only — in reality, they were puppets propped up by Colombia.
Lu Chengyuan said coolly, “If we’re speaking about this incident, I must first address Neon’s collusion with the underground mysterious civilization!”
“As everyone knows, the underground mysterious civilization possesses extremely powerful armed forces. Their existence could even pose an existential threat to human civilization!”
“Neon secretly colluded with them and relied on their power. Do you intend to annihilate all humankind?”
He slapped a massive accusation right at them.
The Neon representative’s face immediately darkened.
The little Mediterranean man who led Neon scowled and continued to argue, “The underground mysterious civilization is also part of this planet! We tried to establish contact. Facing this global-scale crisis, perhaps we could work with them to resolve it!”
Lu Chengyuan sneered, “Saying that is self-deception. Unknown civilizations are not human races. Hoping they’ll live in harmony with us is naive. Do you think only Neon has had contact with these subterranean beings?”
His gaze swept the hall as he ignored the other representatives. The ones he needed to convince were only the people in the central circle.
“We’ve all seen the strength of the underground civilization. They are extremely dangerous. In our contacts with them, the Huaxu Nation suffered heavy casualties.”
“No matter what they are, we must prepare to fight them!”
“When that time comes, it will not be a matter for any single country or people. It will be a crisis confronting all of human civilization!”
Lu Chengyuan slammed the table, his eyes freezing as he stared at the Neon representative.
“Therefore, when the Huaxu Nation sent personnel to investigate Neon’s contact with the underground civilization, it was to defend the survival of human civilization!”
“Now, I demand the council hold Neon accountable!”
His words hit hard. The Neon representative grew even more sullen; in anger he slapped the table and rose to his feet. Unfortunately, standing did little to make him look taller.
“This is an outrageous slander against my Neon Empire…”
Before the Neon representative could finish, a neatly parted, brown-haired middle-aged white man sitting in front of him gave him a look.
“Mr. Tanaka, please be seated.”
Tanaka’s expression stiffened, and he obediently sat down.
Neon had become completely Colombia’s puppet. Having lost top Transcendents and with their military taken over by Colombia, they only answered to Colombia now.
The Colombia representative folded his hands and fixed his gaze on Lu Chengyuan.
“We’ve already investigated the Neon incident. The Demon-Sealing Court organization colluded with the underground civilization; they were the instigators and have been destroyed. This has nothing to do with Neon’s current leadership. They are innocent!”
“However, because your Huaxu Nation’s Transcendent Chaos triggered the conflict in Edo City, nearly five hundred thousand residents of Edo City died. The Huaxu Nation must explain this. We have enough evidence to suspect genocidal intent.”
Lu Chengyuan smiled faintly.
“The events in Neon have likely been investigated thoroughly by all of you. The truth is in your hands; there’s no need to pretend ignorance.”
“The reason those people died is because the Demon-Sealing Court’s leader implanted parasites in them. Our Huaxu Nation’s Transcendent Chaos never attacked ordinary civilians directly.”
The Colombia representative frowned slightly; of course he knew the details.
Their people had monitored that battle the whole time.
Still, this was a rare chance to pressure the Huaxu Nation into concessions, and they wouldn’t let it go.
At that moment, the Britannia representative adjusted his glasses and spoke coldly.
“The day before your Transcendent operation, anomalous energy fluctuations were detected in the Star Island restricted zone in Huaxu’s southeastern maritime area. Satellite data later showed that it was a man-made large-scale weapon reaction.”
“And that weapon was your Huaxu Nation’s newly developed Howler-IV Massive Torpedo.”
The moment he said that, all the representatives turned to glare at Lu Chengyuan, their expressions hostile.
“You always claim to be defenders of order, yet when faced with the unknown underground civilization, you launched massive assaults against them. Don’t you realize that could have unimaginable consequences?”
Lu Chengyuan thought of the file he had seen earlier that day and sighed inwardly.
The Deng family.
They truly knew how to cause trouble.
Still, that was precisely why he existed; a diplomat’s job was to spar verbally in situations like this, to fight for his country’s and his faction’s maximal interests.
