Zhang Yi and his companions were waiting for nightfall in Edo City. In an izakaya, Fatty Xu and Uncle Yu investigated the strange behavior of the patrons, discovering the hostess girls were not human. As darkness fell, everyone in the izakaya suddenly froze, and the lights went out. A monstrous creature attacked, prompting Fatty Xu and Uncle Yu to use their powers and flee into the street, only to witness a horrifying scene.

Beneath an ink-black sky, Edo City, bustling and lively during the day, had now fallen into utter silence.

Not a single pedestrian walked the streets, and the myriad lights of ten thousand homes were abruptly extinguished. Only the multicolored searchlights from the city center pierced through the lonely gray fog, shooting up into the sky.

The entire city of Edo was now shrouded in a thick layer of mist.

And within this mist, countless enormous shadows flickered into view, like small mountains, like towering trees, like wild beasts passing through the deserted streets, aimlessly trudging toward this location.

In the dead of night, a night parade of one hundred demons.

The creature that attacked Uncle Yu and Fatty Xu was a monster with six arms. It had a humanoid body, short lower limbs, and arms that were even longer than its torso, stretching dozens of meters.

Its pitch-black body seemed like a clumsy ink-wash painting, with only a single eye on its head and a massive mouth that occupied half its face.

"Ohhh—"

After failing its strike, it slowly retracted its arm, then turned to face Uncle Yu and Fatty Xu, letting out a mournful wail from its mouth.

"W-what... what the hell is that thing?!"

Fatty Xu's face had turned pale with fear, his voice becoming shrill like a woman's.

The monster braced itself with its thick arms against the ground and charged toward them at breakneck speed!

Just as Uncle Yu was about to summon his exoskeleton armor to fight the beast, a familiar figure flashed before him.

"Don't waste time here! Move!"

At the critical moment, Zhang Yi arrived on the scene first. As he had said, he could reach any location in Edo City at any time. So the moment he discovered that the city had turned eerie after nightfall, he immediately sprang into action, gathering everyone together.

"Whoosh!"

Shadow Space unfolded, and Uncle Yu and Fatty Xu entered it.

The massive demon ahead opened its huge mouth, as if spreading open a giant sack, aiming to envelop Zhang Yi.

Zhang Yi extended both hands, pointing forward. His hands turned like keys in midair, and the demon's body suddenly twisted grotesquely in the air before being viciously torn apart!

Space skill [Divine Domain Purification], an instantaneous, inescapable shredding technique within a three-kilometer radius.

After instantly killing this giant demon, the terrifying shadows in the gray mist seemed to sense what had happened here and turned their heads in unison.

For a moment, a chilling sensation of being stared at by countless monsters washed over Zhang Yi's heart.

His pupils contracted slightly, actually producing a feeling of facing a formidable opponent.

Within the gray mist ahead, he had no idea how many existences could give him trouble!

Yet this feeling was also somewhat strange.

"What are these things? Could the legendary Night Parade of One Hundred Demons from Neon's Heian period actually exist?"

Facing an unknown enemy, even as a Black Chariot-tier Transcendent, Zhang Yi still chose to retreat first.

He made several Spatial Shifts with the group, arriving near the Dalangdu National Museum to find Deng Shentong and the others.

At this moment, the few of them were also hiding beneath the night sky, trying to use the massive building as cover. But for some reason, it felt like the giant demons in the mist could smell the scent of humans on them, relentlessly giving chase.

Deng Shentong drew his sword, and a white four-pointed star of holy light slashed toward the demonic horde in the mist behind him.

But the holy light only delayed them for a brief moment before they resumed their pursuit.

Just as it seemed they were surrounded on all sides by the thick fog with no escape, Zhang Yi materialized out of thin air.

"Follow me!"

Zhang Yi ordered Deng Shentong and the others into Shadow Space, then unhesitatingly teleported out of Edo City!

Until he figured out what secret this city was hiding, he absolutely wouldn't act recklessly.

Moments later, Zhang Yi had flown high into the sky.

He turned back to look at Edo City, now completely shrouded in thick fog. Within the city, shadowy figures flickered everywhere, filled with ghostly apparitions.

The sight sent chills down his spine. He had never witnessed such an eerie scene in the human world before.

He had no idea what had happened to Edo during this time after the apocalypse.

"Something like this happening—the Demon-Sealing Court and the Colombia naval forces can't possibly be unaware. Yet I've detected no significant energy fluctuations here."

"Are they just turning a blind eye to this?"

"Or are these strange creatures also under their control?"

Zhang Yi was well aware that even with his current strength, charging into the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons would make survival difficult, relying only on his abilities to flee.

To put it in clichéd terms: if the Transcendent in Edo City today weren't Zhang Yi, even if they could escape, they'd likely be severely injured.

"Let's go!"

Zhang Yi fled into the distance without a moment's hesitation. Fortunately, the mist's coverage was limited to the Edo city limits; once he reached the outskirts, the fog quickly dissipated.

After landing and confirming there were no other Transcendents nearby, Zhang Yi finally let Deng Shentong and the others out of Shadow Space.

Everyone's expressions were grim. The sudden transition of Edo City from a bustling metropolis to a living hell in the blink of an eye had dealt a massive psychological blow.

Deng Shentong, his face serious, supported one elbow with his hand while his other hand rested against his chin, muttering to himself.

"That's impossible! Based on our understanding of Neon, this place simply couldn't have so many terrifying existences!"

Zhang Yi glanced at him and said flatly, "Didn't you say your investigation of Neon was thorough enough?"

Deng Shentong gave a bitter laugh and explained somewhat awkwardly, "You know, Neon is part of the chain that blocks Huaxu Nation from going out to sea, and the Colombia navy is stationed here. Even though the Deng family's intelligence network is powerful, it can't accurately collect all of Edo's data."

Zhang Yi gave Deng Shentong a deep look, walking step by step toward him, his sharp gaze boring into Deng Shentong.

"Are you really sure you don't know anything?"

"Did you really call me to Edo just for an original copy of the 'Philosophy of the Mind'?"

Deng Shentong's eyes didn't waver at all. He nodded firmly.

"I swear on the honor of the Deng family's heir! This is the first time I've encountered all of this too!"

Deng Shentong's eyes didn't seem like those of a liar, and a proud man like him wouldn't easily swear on the Deng family's name.

Zhang Yi rubbed his brow.

"By your account, we have no idea what the situation is here right now."

"Night operations are temporarily canceled! How about we change the plan to daytime?"

Bai Chunyu stepped forward and said, "That might be difficult. During the day, visitors will come to the Dalangdu Museum, and sneaking in carries a high risk of exposure."

"Once the Demon-Sealing Court and Colombia navy discover us, we'll be in huge trouble! Even if we manage to escape, it'll bring massive problems!"

"The worst part is, if the 'Philosophy of the Mind' isn't kept in the museum but has already been moved, they'll realize its value!"
