Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies Chapter 1489: Arrival in Edo

Once Zhang Yi had his personnel ready, Deng Shentong quickly sent over all kinds of intelligence and combat plans.

For this trip to Neon, the biggest problem wasn’t Neon’s native faction, the Demon-Sealing Court, but rather how to avoid the Colombian Navy.

After all, according to current intelligence, the Ocean Fleet had gained a new Epsilon-class Transcendent.

The Billy the Kid from back then had now been promoted, becoming a powerful existence codenamed [The Piercer].

Zhang Yi still remembered that guy’s abilities vividly. If he hadn’t become an Epsilon-class himself back then, actually facing him wouldn’t have been so easy to handle.

Add to that the veteran powerhouse Cadillus, along with the Ocean Fleet’s strong military support, and they would definitely cause them a lot of trouble.

So Deng Shentong’s suggestion was for Zhang Yi to bring a group of elite Transcendents with him, sneak into Neon’s capital, Edo, and first investigate the location of the Philosophy of the Mind.

After all, the entire world had fallen into chaos since the apocalypse.

Whether it was still preserved in the Dalangdu National Museum was uncertain.

Zhang Yi agreed with Deng Shentong’s suggestion.

So, a few days later, Deng Shentong brought a group of people to Tianshui City.

This mission wasn’t conducted under the name of Blizzard City but under the Deng family’s name.

Therefore, everyone who came were Transcendents that Deng Shentong trusted and who possessed a certain level of strength.

Among them was his deputy captain, Bai Chunyu.

However, the other two people truly caught Zhang Yi off guard.

Because they were also old acquaintances: Baili Changqing and Wu Di.

The two came before Zhang Yi and respectfully called out, “Captain!”

“Are they under your command now?”

Zhang Yi raised an eyebrow and asked.

Deng Shentong shrugged his shoulders. “You hold the position of Celestial Hound Squad captain, but you rarely participate directly in day-to-day operations. So most of the time, they work alongside me. You don’t have a problem with that, do you?”

Zhang Yi chuckled. “Of course not. I’m actually relieved to have them following you.”

He walked up to the two of them, gave Baili Changqing a punch on the shoulder, and then patted Wu Di on the shoulder.

“Long time no see. What level are you two at in terms of strength now?”

Baili Changqing scratched his head sheepishly. “I’m ashamed to say it. It’s been so long, and my ability index has only reached 9200 points.”

Wu Di proudly lifted his chin. “I’m at 9300 points now, Captain! Zhu Shuai said that once I reach 9500 points in ability index, he’ll let me form my own team!”

Baili Changqing frowned and said in a low voice, “Xiao Wu, what are you saying?”

Saying something like that in front of Zhang Yi and Deng Shentong was clearly inappropriate.

This Wu Di had grown quite a bit in strength, but his personality was still the same as before—not very good at being restrained.

Zhang Yi didn’t mind, however. He looked at Wu Di and said, “Back then, Bian Junwu once told me that your talent was the strongest in the investigation team. Now it seems you really haven’t let him down!”

Hearing the name Bian Junwu, Wu Di’s expression also turned serious.

“I’ve always kept the captain’s words in my heart! One day, I will rebuild the Black Cloak Squad!”

Zhang Yi nodded. “I’ll be waiting for that day to come.”

With Zhang Yi around, preparing all the strategic supplies like weapons and equipment was much easier. There was no need for meticulous planning; they just brought everything.

Everyone changed their appearances, putting on everyday cold-weather gear on the outside, with combat suits underneath.

Then, Zhang Yi activated his space ability and led everyone toward Edo.

This was Zhang Yi’s first time visiting Neon territory since the apocalypse.

Now, he could cross 4,000 meters with each teleport, so it wasn’t long before he traversed the East China Sea and arrived above the Neon archipelago.

Looking down from a high altitude, the entire island was a vast expanse of white, with most areas buried under snow.

Only a few large cities were still functioning.

However, when Zhang Yi and his team reached the outskirts of Edo, they were still amazed by what they saw.

Observing from above, Zhang Yi actually saw the city bustling with people everywhere.

Although some of the tall buildings had collapsed, the overall rhythm of the city didn’t seem affected.

He could even see shops still doing business on the streets.

People wore winter clothes, walking in pairs or groups on the roads, chatting and laughing.

There was hardly any snow on the streets either, as if someone cleaned them every day.

Even the most prosperous city in Huaxu Nation after the apocalypse, Shengjing, would find it hard to achieve this level.

“Something’s strange. I feel like something’s off.”

Zhang Yi frowned and said in a low voice.

“Deng Shentong, what’s the situation here?”

At this moment, Deng Shentong and the others were all inside Mu Yan’s Shadow Space, but they could observe everything outside.

Deng Shentong said, “Edo is like this. After all, it used to be Asia’s largest metropolis and is also the headquarters of the Demon-Sealing Court. Concentrating all of Neon’s resources and most of its population here makes it more prosperous. That’s understandable.”

Zhang Yi rubbed his chin.

“That makes some sense, but I still feel something’s not quite right.”

Could people still live and work in peace after the apocalypse?

Shouldn’t most ordinary humans be gathered for labor, which would make more sense?

He certainly didn’t think the leaders of these Neon Transcendent organizations would be that merciful.

Deng Shentong, however, said, “I suspected something was wrong here back then too, but according to our investigation, this situation has persisted for at least a year.”

Zhang Yi pondered for a moment before saying, “Don’t rush into action for now. Let’s investigate carefully first and see!”

He flickered, and after a few teleports, he arrived in Edo City.

Mu Yan’s shadow spread out on a wall, and Deng Shentong and the others stepped out from within.

They were all wearing thick cold-weather gear, no different from the Neon residents in the city. With the help of an intelligent system, language wasn’t an issue either, so as long as they didn’t get into a fight, no one would discover they were outsiders.

Zhang Yi exhaled a breath, which instantly turned into white mist in the air.

Without a helmet, the only exposed half of his face felt a bit chilly.

“Don’t act rashly during the day. There are too many people here. We’ll wait until nightfall to check out the Dalangdu Museum.”

Zhang Yi said.

Deng Shentong nodded. “Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”

Zhang Yi continued, “Before that, we’ll split up to gather intelligence. Don’t stay together; it makes it easier to be exposed.”

He pointed at the communicator hidden under his cold-weather gear.

“Contact me immediately if anything happens. I can reach any corner of Edo City within a minute.”

Fatty Xu’s eyes lit up. He coughed once, then walked up to Zhang Yi.

“Boss, can I go anywhere I want?”

Zhang Yi glanced at him. “It’s still daytime, and you’re already thinking about the red-light district?”
