Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies Chapter 1478: Shocking Changes in Edo City
Previously on Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies...
The silver Snowland Iron Wolf raced across the vast apocalyptic snowfield.
Deng Shentong's silver hair fluttered in the wind as Amber sat behind him, tightly gripping his waist and burying her face against his broad back.
Wandering Phantom was dead, and with him, her nightmares vanished.
What would her life be like from now on?
She didn't know.
But when a person was born into this world, the first thing to consider was how to survive.
And this man, whom she had met for the first time, had given her a profound sense of security.
Deng Shentong brought Amber back to Blizzard City. No one asked who the girl he brought back was.
It wasn't until they returned to the Deng estate that Amber saw the luxurious mansion and the countless servants bowing to him that she realized this man was actually a distinguished young master of Blizzard City.
Deng Shentong had the maids arrange a room for Amber. She took a bath, changed into fresh clothes, and was then led to Deng Shentong's room.
The dining table was set with exquisite food, and Deng Shentong invited her to join him for dinner.
Amber couldn't contain her craving for the food, so she ate rather ravenously.
Once she had eaten her fill, Deng Shentong began to inquire about her background.
But what he cared about most was Amber's ability.
"What did you do to me back then? How did you help me break through my body's limitations and become stronger?"
Amber pursed her lips and said softly, "Love is taking, love is giving. My ability allows me to receive love and also to bestow love."
Her face flushed slightly as she lowered her head and said, "When I pour my love into a person, they receive a boost. I call this ability 'Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder.'"
Deng Shentong had a moment of realization. "So, back when you were with Wandering Phantom, you also used this ability to help him. That's why he had such great power, right?"
Amber nodded.
Deng Shentong's eyes revealed surprise.
This ability was incredibly overpowered—it was practically a human upgrade machine!
No wonder Blizzard City had classified her as a B-grade transport item without even fully understanding her ability.
But now it seemed that Blizzard City had still underestimated her capabilities.
"What a fascinating ability!"
Deng Shentong exclaimed.
Amber continued, "Actually, I've had this ability for a long time now."
Deng Shentong smiled. "Oh? Did your mutation happen early?"
Amber nodded. "Very early."
Deng Shentong thought nothing of it. There were far too many Transcendents who had mutated at the start of the apocalypse.
But Amber's next words made his expression change dramatically.
Amber said, "I already possessed this special power before the apocalypse came."
She brushed her hair back.
After her bath, she had swept her hair up into a bun, revealing her delicate, petite face.
Under the light, her features seemed strangely familiar to Deng Shentong.
But then again, most beauties in this world shared similar faces, especially influencers and female celebrities.
"I have a stage name. Lin Huanxi."
Amber said softly.
Deng Shentong remembered who this woman was. Two and a half years of apocalyptic hardship had made her unrecognizable from the radiant top-tier celebrity she once was.
Lin Huanxi. Former top-tier starlet, one of the hottest celebrities in the entertainment industry.
"A pre-apocalypse awakened?"
Deng Shentong muttered to himself, his expression seemingly calm, but his mind was in chaos.
Because the generally accepted cause of mutations was the gamma-ray storm from a supernova explosion triggering a global genetic mutation.
So how could Amber's situation be explained?
Was she like that Houtu—a one-in-ten-thousand superpowered being?
Amber quickly gave Deng Shentong his answer.
"The opportunity to gain this ability came four years ago. I once visited Neon and toured the Dalangdu National Museum in Edo."
"There was something there that gave me my current ability."
…
[One year ago].
Late at night. Snowflakes drifted down.
The colorful neon lights of Edo City still flickered. As the capital of Neon, this was the only metropolis on the entire Neon archipelago that remained functioning normally after the apocalypse.
But the towering skyscrapers and the neon lights shining in every direction could not dispel the chill between heaven and earth.
In a long-abandoned construction site within Edo City, massive steel scaffolding outlined the silhouette of a giant building, faintly hinting at the former prosperity of East Asia's largest metropolis.
Viewed from the moonless sky above, a blazing pillar of fire shot up into the air, engulfing a vast area in an instant.
"BOOM!!!"
A massive steel scaffold collapsed, crashing heavily into the thick snow below.
And high above, intense battles were breaking out simultaneously in multiple locations!
Throughout this abandoned steel district, many Transcendents in black suits wielded weapons, displaying superhuman abilities as they vigilantly scanned their surroundings.
As the most powerful organization in northern Neon, [Pelican], they were about to face their greatest challenge since the apocalypse.
Suddenly, a dull rumble came from the earth.
A terrifying figure slowly rose from the ground, standing level with the hundred-meter-tall steel scaffolding, like a demon god in the darkness, exuding a suffocating sense of dread!
"MOOO!!!"
The terrifying figure let out a roar, then used its muscular, bulging arms to directly flip over the steel scaffold in front of it. Dozens of vigilant Transcendents on top were thrown into the air!
"AHHH!!!"
They fell in terror. Some Transcendents unfurled translucent blue wings from their backs, stabilizing in midair. But a single punch quickly turned them into twisted corpses hanging in the sky!
Others shot spider silk from their sleeves, latching onto distant buildings in an attempt to escape. But a streak of freezing light flashed across the sky from another direction, instantly slicing their bodies in half! All that remained was a bloody upper torso dangling from the spider silk, hanging against the icy wall.
A middle-aged man with a long topknot, dressed in a red samurai outfit, landed steadily on a tall building. His long blade slowly slid back into its sheath as his cold gaze swept over the Pelican Transcendents below.
"The era of the Pelican is over. Now, this is the domain of our Demon-Sealing Court!"
He pointed his scabbard at the suited Pelican Transcendents.
"Drop your weapons now, kneel and surrender, and you might still save your lives!"
A Pelican Transcendent gripping a long blade gritted his teeth and shouted angrily into the sky:
"You country bumpkins! Don't get too cocky! Our boss will personally annihilate every last one of you!"
The samurai listened, then looked into the distance. At the highest steel scaffold, two terrifying auras were locked in battle.
"You mean that guy over there?"
A cold smirk curled at the corner of the samurai's lips.
"He's already a dead man!"
