Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies Chapter 1301: Snowy Mastiff
Previously on Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies...
Losang's body split into two pieces. He tumbled to the ground, unleashing a piercing, spine-tingling howl.
Suffering a cut right at the waist was a brutally agonizing manner of death.
All who saw this horrifying sight felt a chill of dread crawl along their backs.
The allied forces, Pagyi Family members included, drew in a gasp of icy air while staring at Liang Yue.
This wasn't due to her simply securing the win.
Rather, Liang Yue's triumph came too swiftly, too thoroughly, her combat approach utterly outclassing the superhumans from the Snowy Plateau Region!
Liang Yue's success hadn't depended solely on brute physical power.
She had spotted her foe's flaws, used multiple tactics to pin him down, and struck the killing blow.
Even now, superhuman duels in the Snowy Plateau Region stuck to the old-school, no-holds-barred, close-range fights to the death.
Two and a half years since the Apocalypse began, the four major chieftain clans in the West kept draining their forces through endless infighting, pouring nearly every resource into these internal clashes.
This caused their tech progress and overall growth to stall, even backslide.
Liang Yue's style of battle just taught them a harsh reality.
Fighting could actually happen this way!
Yasha Langtai Deji, La Min Ouzhu, and Xia Zha Gyatso wore grim looks on their faces.
They'd figured the clash between Losang and Liang Yue would drag on fiercely.
Even in defeat, he ought to wear her down hard, maybe injure her badly to set up the following bout for success.
Yet Liang Yue slew Losang with apparent ease.
The result shattered their plans completely.
La Min Ouzhu and Xia Zha Gyatso eyed Deji with worry.
"Khenpo, your Yasha Langtai family picks the next fighter."
Though unspoken, their glances screamed it.
They'd fulfilled their duties.
Just one opponent remained now. A loss from Yasha Langtai's pick would pin the whole mission's failure on them.
Deji stared off into the horizon, sensing Pagyi Gesang's intense, probing gaze.
With a steady breath, he declared calmly, "Relax. Victory is ours."
For the final combatant was Sangha Monastery's wandering monk, the martial specialist.
Esoteric sect monks included types like these.
They joined the temple yet skimped on scriptures, often broke rules to brawl outside.
Known as vagrant monks, akin to Central Plains warrior monks tasked with temple defense.
In the Apocalypse era, vagrant monks gained even greater value.
Deji had trained a squad of such enforcers.
Loren exemplified them, also termed De Duo.
Mukawa, Ashina, Tsangpo—all fearsome vagrant monks.
Solemnity settled over Xia Zha Gyatso and La Min Ouzhu's features.
Post the demise of Mukawa and crew, the vagrant monk group lacked standout talents.
Deji's assured words hinted at a hidden ace.
Deji merely glanced back and ordered a nearby monk, "Fetch Yenatai."
The monk nodded, spun, and departed.
Soon, a skinny lama with messy hair and a lopsided monk hat stepped onto the field.
He gripped a vajra rod in one hand; leashes for three jet-black, savage hounds in the other.
Snowy Plateau Mastiffs, iconic to the Snowy Plateau Region. Each stood almost human-height, stretching three to four meters.
Black fur shrouded their faces. Under the thin monk's hold, they acted meek as lambs.
Even Deji furrowed his brow at the sight of him.
Sangha Monastery's wildest, hardest-to-rein monk, the "Mahākāla Vajra," Yenatai.
A twisted soul who loved booze and brawls, occasionally defying Deji himself.
Yet Sangha's top fighter nearing Epsilon rank, outmatched only by the Lord of the Charnel Ground.
Plus, he commanded three mighty Snowy Plateau Mastiffs.
Mastiffs held sacred status in the Snowy Region. Tales claimed prime ones battled tigers and leopards.
Post-Apocalypse, these breeds mutated to endure.
Perfectly suited to icy surroundings from the start, these creatures were like gifts from the heavens, quickly rising to dominate the Snowy Region's beings.
Each of these three Snowy Plateau Mastiffs had ruled its own domain as a king, slaying innumerable foes.
Eventually, Yenatai tamed them all, turning them into loyal war beasts at his command.
La Min Ouzhu's face shifted dramatically upon spotting the trio of mastiffs.
"That mastiff... is it the Demon Dragon Hound that terrorized the northwestern snowy mountains?"
Her finger aimed at one of them.
Deji gave a slow nod.
"Correct. That's the one."
While saying this, he lifted his hand toward the three dark mastiffs.
"It's not the strongest. The pair flanking it are far deadlier. The left one, Dog Demon, commanded hordes of mutated beasts to wipe out a whole city."
"Next to it, White Brow grew up in Sangha Monastery, absorbing Buddhist teachings from the monks since puphood. It stands as the sole sacred beast empowered by the esoteric sect's might."
"All three mastiffs boast superhuman ability indices over 9,000 points."
"With these three and Yenatai's 9,800-point index... defeat is impossible."
Deji delivered these words with cool detachment, victory seeming assured.
La Min Ouzhu and Xia Zha Gyatso reacted with shock yet a touch of ease.
The battle's result appeared far from uncertain.
Over on the Pagyi family's side, Private Soldiers murmured quietly.
"Why bring dogs? Isn't that unfair?"
"Not exactly. War beasts count as personal power. Plenty of superhumans use beast-taming skills."
"Those mastiffs seem brutal though. Hope we don't lose."
As whispers buzzed behind him, Pagyi Gesang just eyed Zhang Yi.
Zhang Yi's completely relaxed face eased his own tension a bit.
Yenatai strode onto the snowy field, the three mastiffs in tow.
He eyed distant Liang Yue, snorted while clearing his nose, then smeared it off on his grimy monk's robe.
Finally, he flashed a grotesque grin and offered Liang Yue a Buddhist greeting.
Liang Yue gave a faint nod in response.
Right away, Yenatai approached and unclasped the collars around the mastiffs' necks.
Like shattering a seal, savage murderous intent exploded from the mastiffs' eyes the instant the collars came off!
A chilling aura that gripped hearts in terror surged from their forms across the battlefield!
Deep, guttural growls rolled over the wilds. Their stares locked hungrily on Liang Yue, eager to rip her apart.
Just then, Hua Hua's plump, fluffy head emerged from Liang Yue's jacket collar.
Gazing at the fearsome trio, it gaped wide and yawned indifferently.
