Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies Chapter 1272: Snow Wolf Zhuoma
Previously on Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies...
The serf camp belonging to the Pagyi Family.
Blazing flames surged toward the heavens, while eerie blue glows danced like ghostly wisps in the expansive darkness beyond the camp.
"Awooo—"
A piercing wolf howl pierced the air, with the pack leader's call swiftly echoed by the chorus from the whole wolf pack.
A fierce woman, her hair woven into countless long braids and gripping a lengthy whip, mounted a gigantic white wolf as she spearheaded the charge into the camp.
Trailing her came hundreds of ferocious wolves native to the Snowy Plateau!
More than thirty formidable warriors also rode on the backs of those wolves.
These were the defiant group on the Snowy Plateau refusing allegiance to Sangha Monastery or the Four Great Families—the resistance army.
The resistance army launched their strike with shocking abruptness. The Four Great Families held formidable strength, rendering daily existence for the resistance army a grueling ordeal.
Typically, the Four Great Families employed all tactics to pursue and eliminate the resistance army, whereas the resistance fighters could merely launch hit-and-run assaults on isolated family detachments.
Yet tonight, they targeted the Pagyi Family directly.
The unexpected raid left the Pagyi Family's private soldiers utterly stunned, suffering heavy losses right from the start.
Before long, vast sections of the camp erupted in fire, with infernos roaring upward. Panic-stricken serfs fled screaming like frightened sheep or cowered in tight groups.
The charging woman leader cracked her long whip, shattering a dwelling effortlessly. She pressed on without hesitation, ripping apart nearby walls while bellowing to all:
"Get out of here quickly! You are free now!"
"You are not anyone's slaves, much less the chieftain lords' food! Take up arms, seize the food and warm houses that belong to you!"
The serfs shook with fear, yet those straightforward rallying cries sparked a spark of hope in numerous eyes.
They weren't slaves?
Food that was theirs... and houses too?
Indeed, they hadn't entered the world as slaves.
Prior to the apocalypse, each had promising prospects. That cataclysmic blizzard had razed their homes and robbed them of their humanity.
In the present, they served merely as livestock for the chieftain lords.
Toiling for them, entertaining them, even ending up as their meals.
Gradually, doubts stirred within some. They rose to their feet.
The resistance army had demolished the enclosing walls. Escape from this hell was now possible.
But what destination awaited them beyond these walls?
All food stores had been seized by the chieftains' private soldiers. Venturing out meant swift death by cold or hunger.
Once more, the resistance army's chants resounded in their ears.
"Down with these demons who devour people without spitting out the bones! The grain is ours, the houses are also ours!"
"Only by killing them all can we live well! For yourselves and your families, take up arms and fight them!"
The courageous remained scarce.
But courage always lingers somewhere.
Particularly when a bold exemplar stands right before them, it readily kindles the will to battle in others.
The hastily roused private soldiers confronting the invaders fell like ripe produce before the resistance army's onslaught into the camp.
The bold woman commander lashed her whip with deadly precision; one strike halved several private soldiers and their weapons in an instant.
The warriors behind her fought with savage ferocity like wolves and tigers, bolstered by the horde of tamed wolves savaging the Pagyi Family's private soldiers.
"I... I don't want to be treated like pigs and dogs anymore!"
A youthful serf snatched a gun from a bloody puddle, let out a furious yell, and pointed the barrel at nearby private soldiers.
Those private soldiers never imagined serfs would muster the nerve to fight back.
The young serf's aim was abysmal, but up close with a submachine gun, merely squeezing the trigger sufficed.
Bullets instantly shredded several private soldiers. In their final moments, terror and incredulity twisted their features.
They had apparently overlooked that the beings they'd brutalized like animals for two years were fellow humans.
Humans identical to themselves.
Over time, surroundings dull the senses. Humans devolve into mere beasts, and beasts lose their essence.
True dread awakens only when death looms.
Liang Yue and Mu Yan reached the scene swiftly via shadow movement.
Observing the resistance army's exploits from a distance ignited passion in Liang Yue's chest.
"Indeed, beneath the darkness, there is still a light that is difficult to conceal!"
Mu Yan, though, doused her zeal with cool reason. "Light does not necessarily triumph over darkness, and reality is not an idealistic novel story. Miss Liang, you must not act impulsively."
"What happens here has nothing to do with us."
Liang Yue cast her eyes downward. "I know that. Don't worry, I won't intervene. But, what if we tell them the location of those imprisoned women and let them rescue them?"
Mu Yan replied, "They'd have to listen to what you say!"
At such a chaotic juncture, if Liang Yue abruptly appeared with intel, why would they trust her word?
They could suspect her as a Pagyi Family ploy, luring them into an ambush.
Anxiety gnawed at Liang Yue's heart.
She truly ached for those wretched women and yearned to end their torment.
Yet for the moment, exposing themselves rashly was unwise; timing demanded patience.
The resistance army's incursion plunged the camp into utter turmoil. The guarding private soldiers, taken aback, faced massacre and rout.
Nevertheless, this served as the Pagyi Family's core stronghold. The disturbance rapidly reached Pagyi Gesang's ears.
Upon hearing the report, Pagyi Gesang posed a single calm query: "Has the Snow Mountain Divine Eagle come?"
Chief steward Lhobu answered, "No, the one who came seems to be that shepherdess girl, Drolma."
Pagyi Gesang responded flatly, "Send Chodak with men. Capture those who should be captured, kill those who should be killed."
Lhobu bowed and withdrew obediently.
Shortly, the Pagyi Family's premier elites sprang into action.
A fleet of twenty armored vehicles roared from beside the Pagyi Family courtyard, racing toward the serf camp.
Though few in number, the convoy bristled with cutting-edge gear.
Heavy machine guns crowned each armored vehicle. Above all, the hundred-plus warriors aboard were all superhumans!
Commanding them was the Pagyi Family's renowned powerhouse—Chodak!
The armored column reached the riot zone. Chodak, with his swarthy complexion, glanced across the mayhem-filled camp, where wild wolves dashed wildly, ripping into private soldiers' flesh.
"Kill!"
His order rang out icy and firm.
The vehicle gunners wasted no time, unleashing their triggers without mercy.
Muzzles belched azure fire. Their firestorm wove a deadly net from all angles, sealing off most camp access points.
Piercing whistles cut the air as bullets ripped through, soon joined by the sickening "Thud! Thud! Thud!" of impacts shredding bodies.
