I was just making up techniques… how did all of you become Emperors? Chapter 616: Cao Youqian — Your Flesh Must Be Very Delicious, Right?
Previously on I was just making up techniques… how did all of you become Emperors?...
On Sword Peak, Xiao Chen observed the youngsters below who had all slipped into cultivation mode, and he nodded with approval. Most of his divine sense concentrated on the handful of youths up front, eager to gauge how much time they'd need to fully grasp the knowledge he'd shared.
After an hour passed, Er Gouzi became the first to open his eyes, his look locking straight onto Xiao Chen's. He quickly rose to his feet and declared, “Er Gouzi pays respects to Sword God.”
“You do not have a name?” Xiao Chen questioned on reflex after hearing the moniker Er Gouzi.
Er Gouzi rubbed his head in embarrassment. “I do not have a name. The High Priest mentioned he'd give me one earlier, but I've been lingering on Sword Peak lately and haven't gotten it yet.”
Upon hearing that, Xiao Chen promptly announced, “Since you lack a name, I will grant you one. In the Famous Sword Holy Land, 'Sword' serves as the surname, and you finished absorbing the foundational teachings I provided first, so your name will be Jian Yi.”
“Jian Yi.”
Er Gouzi whispered the name softly, then leaped up excitedly and yelled, “I have a name, I have a name!”
Xiao Chen pointed at him, wrapping his form in a light barrier. Calmly, he stated, “Getting a name is certainly worth celebrating, but you shouldn't disturb the others' cultivation.”
“Yes.”
Jian Yi scratched his head in awkwardness once more, his expression revealing tension and discomfort.
Xiao Chen took in the whole scene and smiled while saying, “Fine, no need to be so stiff. Now that you've taken in what I taught you, is there anything unclear?”
Jian Yi answered quietly, “Reporting to Sword God, I only grasp these basics. I don't truly understand much beyond that.”
Xiao Chen stayed calm instead of getting upset and inquired softly, “So, does that mean you've never cultivated before?”
“Mmm.”
Jian Yi nodded vigorously, gazing at Xiao Chen with eager hope.
“No problem. While the rest haven't awakened yet, I'll start by showing you the way to cultivate.”
Xiao Chen hadn't anticipated the boy in front of him to be such a raw talent waiting to be shaped. He resolved to guide him with care and discover just how high this youth might rise someday.

Far off by thousands of miles, Cao Youqian sensed his whole body grow more powerful after absorbing the Light of Fortune. He gradually opened his eyes and scanned the surroundings, discovering himself encircled by a pack of demonic beasts, their stares brimming with avarice as they eyed him.
Before he could act, the Thunder Qilin next to him bellowed, “You Demon Dragon brat, I was planning to hunt you down, yet you come right to me.”
With those words out, every demonic beast there shifted their attention to a jet-black, one-horned Demon Dragon.
The Demon Dragon flashed a wicked grin at the sight of the Thunder Qilin. “Oh, it's you, Thunder Qilin. What, the thrashing from last time wasn't sufficient, so you're back for more? Since you've offered me this tasty human as a gift, I'll give you a few extra beatings.”
Overhearing the banter between the two divine beasts, Cao Youqian stroked the qilin horn with a faint smirk and queried, “This black loach is the one who thrashed you?”
“That's correct. Brother Qian, it's this Demon Dragon brat. You have to help me give it a real lesson.”
The Thunder Qilin had initially felt cautious about the Demon Dragon, but recalling the power of its companion, boldness surged right back.
“Hahahaha…”
The Demon Dragon erupted in booming laughter after catching the exchange between the man and the qilin.
Its laugh held a piercing, fiendish edge, and the nearby demonic beasts joined in the mockery. Suddenly, across a hundred-mile stretch, nothing but this grating, devilish cackling filled the air, stirring deep annoyance in anyone who heard it.
While laughing scornfully, the Demon Dragon taunted, “Thunder Qilin, you're a total shame to the qilin clan. Other qilins summon their elders when they can't beat our dragon race, but you go and beg a puny human for aid. Do you figure you're not pathetic enough as is?”
The Thunder Qilin stayed silent and simply turned its eyes to Cao Youqian. Cao Youqian picked at his ear with a finger and grumbled, “It's been ages since I tasted dragon meat. From your appearance, you're a true-born dragon, not some flood dragon that evolved, correct?”
“Hmph.”
The Demon Dragon huffed in disdain. “Arrogant human. I am the Dragon Ancestor's direct grandson. How could I be lumped with those flood dragons that turned into dragons?”
“Then, your flesh must be very delicious, right?”
As Cao Youqian said this, he even gulped down some saliva, his stare at the Demon Dragon turning intense with hunger.
Contempt, pure and blatant contempt.
The Demon Dragon's dark face appeared to redden under the blackness, making it look utterly hideous. As the Dragon Ancestor's direct grandson, it couldn't tolerate a lowly human eyeing it like prey. If it didn't consume this human right now, wouldn't it turn into a joke among the Dragon Ancestor's kin?
“Grab this insignificant human for me. The first to catch him gets one of my thighs as reward.”
“Yes!”
The swarm of Demon Kings surged at Cao Youqian like bloodthirsty sharks.
Cao Youqian's lips twisted into a scornful smirk. In one swift grab, he shattered a tiger demon's skull, then pulverized a lion demon's frame with a single strike.
This abrupt turn left the other Demon Kings dumbfounded, yet Cao Youqian offered no pity. He dispatched the remainder as if slicing through produce, finishing them in mere moments—faster than brewing a cup of tea.
Quietness descended, turning the once-raucous mountain woods into a place so still that even a bird's cry was absent.
The Demon Dragon stood speechless, stunned by the spectacle. Though a Demon Emperor itself, freshly ascended, it couldn't have subdued that many Demon Kings with such ease.
Naturally, the Thunder Qilin felt the greatest shock. It had seen Brother Qian's skills in action before, but never dreamed he'd be this formidable. It dawned on it now that previously, the man hadn't even tried to hold it back; otherwise, it wouldn't have lasted until today.
With that thought, it vowed to stick with Brother Qian going forward. As long as Brother Qian was near, nothing could intimidate it.
Cao Youqian dusted off his hands—though no dirt was there—and locked eyes on the black dragon, jeering, “Your turn now, black loach.”
Flee.
The Demon Dragon's immediate impulse upon snapping out of it was to bolt. Having risen to Demon Emperor under a century ago, it refused to perish in such a spot.
Though this human outmatched it in power, when it came to velocity, no human Great Shaman could rival a Demon Emperor.
Its body blurred, and a dark silhouette vanished in a flash.
Noticing this, the Thunder Qilin yelled urgently, “Brother Qian, that brat's getting away!”
Cao Youqian grinned and replied, “Relax. It won't slip from my grasp.”
As he finished speaking, he leisurely stretched out a hand and reached toward the distant sky where the Demon Dragon fled. From this simple gesture, a massive illusory hand materialized overhead.
This illusion exuded overwhelming authority, and beneath the fearsome force, the Demon Dragon realized its inner demonic power was locked away. It reflexively looked up.
What met its eyes was an enormous palm evoking utter hopelessness, descending gradually from above.
“No—”
In a frantic wail, the colossal palm crushed down on the Demon Dragon…
