Chapter 585: Nine Cauldron City
"Sir, rest assured that I shall ensure every disciple returns in one piece," Chu Feng pledged, his expression grave and sincere.
It was a foregone conclusion that Wendao Academy would claim the championship in this Ten Saints Grand Competition.
His primary responsibility now was simply to guarantee the safety of his students.
The Dean gently stroked his beard. "Very well. Your promise is all I need; may your travels be safe."
Following his farewell to the Dean, Chu Feng signaled with a sharp sweep of his hand. "Move out!"
"Yes!"
With a unified shout, the disciples of Wendao Academy rose into the air, following Chu Feng as they soared toward Wendao City.
The appearance of such a massive formation above Wendao City immediately drew the gazes of countless cultivators, sparking fervent discussions among the crowds below.
"What is Wendao Academy doing with such an enormous display?"
"Are you out of the loop? The Ten Saints Grand Competition is right around the corner."
"I had no idea. It is truly a shame that we won't get to witness the brilliance of those geniuses in person."
"..."
Chu Feng led his group directly to the teleportation formation located within the City Lord’s Mansion.
Their journey's end was the Nine Cauldron Mountain Secret Realm, the traditional site for every Ten Saints Grand Competition held throughout history.
Stepping through the teleportation array, the group materialized moments later in Nine Cauldron City, situated at the base of the mountain.
This city was the legacy of Emperor Nine Cauldrons, the very first Immortal Emperor of the Human Race.
In ages past, Emperor Nine Cauldrons had governed the entire Xuantian Continent from this very seat of power.
However, since his ascension to the Nine Heavens, no inheritance was left behind, causing Nine Cauldron City to slowly fade from its former glory.
In the present era, it serves as a neutral territory overseen by a resident Great Saint. Although the Ten Great Holy Lands maintain outposts here, they also act as the city's protectors.
As Chu Feng and his followers emerged from the teleportation array, a booming voice echoed from the surroundings.
"We offer our respectful greetings to Saint Qiankun."
Chu Feng turned toward the sound and found an elderly man accompanied by dozens of others waiting expectantly outside the array.
He spoke calmly, "There is no need for such formalities, everyone."
"We thank the Saint," the crowd responded with deep respect.
Chu Feng continued, "This Saint must escort these disciples to our station, so I shall not linger to disturb you further."
"Please, after you."
"Please."
Under the watchful eyes of the onlookers, Chu Feng departed with the Wendao Academy contingent.
Once the figures of the academy members had faded into the distance, the crowd began to whisper excitedly.
"So that is Saint Qiankun? He looks incredibly young."
"To reach the realm of a Saint before the age of one hundred... I doubt another like him will appear in a million years."
"..."
Thirty minutes later.
After settling the Wendao Academy disciples into their designated quarters, Chu Feng immediately announced a strict order.
No disciple was permitted to cause trouble before the tournament commenced; any who broke this rule would face the full weight of the academy's disciplinary code.
The students accepted this without a hint of protest, offering their agreement before retreating to their rooms.
Led by the station's steward, Chu Feng and his wife were escorted to a private, detached courtyard.
Accompanying Wendao Academy on this excursion were six Great Saints in total: Bing Yan, Jin Chi, Yi Shan, and Jiao Yang, along with Ye Mo from the Sword Dao Institute and Lin Ming from the Heaven Spirit Institute.
Once the group had settled in, the five other Great Saints gathered at Chu Feng’s residence.
Chu Feng signaled for Bing Yan to serve tea to the guests. After they had finished their first cups, Lin Ming spoke up.
"Uncle Chu, have we decided on a strategy for this competition?"
Chu Feng gave a thin smile. "Is a plan even necessary? We will simply let the disciples settle their old scores and collect on their debts."
At these words, both Ye Mo and Lin Ming looked visibly startled.
Lin Ming voiced his concern, "Uncle, if we take such a path, won't we be drawing too much attention? It might incite the fury of the other nine Great Holy Lands."
Chu Feng took a slow sip of his tea. "In this era, Wendao Academy is destined to reign supreme over all others. Why should we bother hiding our strength?"
Lin Ming was speechless. "..."
Ye Mo remained silent. "..."
Though they initially wanted to argue, they realized upon reflection that Uncle Chu was right.
Given the current growth of the academy's prodigies, the world might very well witness the unprecedented rise of Two Emperors in a single generation.
Who among the youth of this world could possibly stand against the likes of Xiao Chen or Cao Youqian?
"Very well, let us treat this as a simple leisure trip. If someone is foolish enough to ignore the hierarchy and break the rules, we will intervene then. Otherwise, let the disciples do as they wish."
Chu Feng set his teacup down with a light clack.
"Uncle is truly wise," the two replied together.
After some brief small talk, the visitors departed, leaving Chu Feng and Bing Yan to a quiet game of chess.
Chen Qianqian and Bai Qian had missed this trip, as the two girls were currently in secluded Cultivation to grasp the profound truths of the Great Dao.
Their absence left Chu Feng feeling a bit bored in his day-to-day life.
Just as their match concluded, a familiar voice called out from beyond the courtyard gate.
"Disciple Qin Qin is here to pay respects to Master and Mistress."
"Enter," Chu Feng answered calmly.
Moments later, Qin Qin appeared before them, her eyes covered by her signature mask.
"Take a seat," Chu Feng invited.
"I thank you, Master," Qin Qin said, sitting stiffly on a nearby stone stool.
Though she had been with Wendao Academy for decades, her physical appearance remained unchanged from the day they first met, though she now carried a far more mature aura.
Noticing her silence, Chu Feng smiled. "What is on your mind, Qin'er? You seem unusually hesitant. If there is something you need, speak plainly."
Qin Qin stood and gave a deep bow. "Disciple wishes to ask Master for a single favor."
"Tell me."
Chu Feng’s smile remained; he had already suspected she was thinking about the Great Evolution Holy Land.
"I wish to seek vengeance during this competition."
After speaking, she looked at her master with a trace of apprehension.
"You certainly may," Chu Feng replied softly. "Even if you hadn't brought it up, I would have eventually sent people to hunt down those responsible for the massacre of your family."
Hearing this, Qin Qin’s eyes immediately welled with tears.
She had spent years cultivating at Wendao Academy with the sole focus of avenging her kin and her fallen sect brothers.
She understood that she lacked the power to wipe out the Great Evolution Holy Land entirely right now, but she was determined to find and crush the individual who orchestrated the tragedy.
If she could one day claim the Heavenly Mandate, she would surely bring ruin to the Great Evolution Holy Land itself.
Noticing her distress, Bing Yan pulled the girl close to offer comfort.
"Do not be sad, Qin'er. Your Master has your back; you are free to do what must be done."
"Mm," Qin Qin nodded, struggling to keep her tears at bay.
"Go and get some rest. The tournament is starting soon, and you must stay focused. Do not allow your emotions to cause a Qi deviation before the start," Chu Feng cautioned.
"I will remember your words, Master."
With that, Qin Qin bowed and exited the courtyard...
