The Barefoot Monk reunites with his senior brother, Yinxu, the King of Yinchang. Yinxu explains his difficult decision to abandon his monastic path to rule the kingdom, a choice he believes is in line with Buddhist principles. He reveals he has rebuilt his palace to resemble their former Buddha Country. As they discuss their past and the Demon Race, an urgent messenger arrives. A general reports that envoys from the Holy Court have arrived with an ultimatum: destroy the statues or face the destruction of Zhoushou City. Yinxu and Qiu Pei question the masses' blessings, but the general insists the Immortals' power is overwhelming.

“The prayers of the masses are not always effective.”

“Although the Holy Court’s people aren’t acting directly, they’ve certainly brought numerous desperate individuals.”

“Substantial rewards were dangled before these desperadoes; you know, some folks would risk anything, even licking blood from a blade.”

“As long as the compensation is significant enough, they’ll undertake any task and dare to attempt anything.”

Hearing Qiu Pei’s explanation, Yin Xu’s countenance darkened considerably.

Indeed, the prayers of the multitude do not hold absolute power.

Certain desperate souls exist in every era.

Even if the retaliation from Heaven and Earth Power eventually targets these desperate individuals, the populace of Yinchang Kingdom who perished are irrevocably gone, beyond any hope of resurrection.

From a particular viewpoint, this situation results in a mutual loss for all involved.

The powerful figures of the Holy Court might refrain from direct action, but they remain in the background, undoubtedly ensuring that many are willing to act as their proxies.

“Senior Brother, is this perhaps related to the matter of the Buddha Country?”

The Barefoot Monk posed the question.

“Because of your desire for the Buddha Country to prosper within Yinchang Kingdom, the Holy Court felt compelled to intervene.”

Yin Xu gave a slight nod in agreement.

He continued, “It mirrors Master’s decision from back then.”

The memory of the Buddha Country being obliterated by a single palm strike remained astonishingly clear.

“Damn it!” Yin Xu brought his fist down heavily on the table.

In this moment, he found himself caught in an agonizing predicament.

On one side stood his faith, intrinsically tied to the Buddha Country.

On the other, he bore the responsibility for the hundreds of thousands of lives within Yinchang Kingdom.

Whichever path he chose, the decision would bring immeasurable pain to Yin Xu.

“Let us observe the situation,” Xu Zimei interjected then.

He added, “I can offer assistance in resolving this matter.”

Yin Xu had not anticipated Xu Zimei volunteering his aid.

Uncertain of Xu Zimei’s true capabilities, he hesitantly responded, “The individuals from the Holy Court are formidable; I would not wish to involve you.”

“What exactly do you mean by ‘involvement’?” Xu Zimei inquired with a smile.

“The Demon Race and the Holy Court are declared mortal enemies.”

“Senior Brother, Master’s power is immense; merely watch,” the Barefoot Monk assured from his side.

“While I can assist you on this occasion, how will you manage in the future?” Xu Zimei questioned.

“Yinchang Kingdom endures here, and its hundreds of thousands of citizens cannot abandon their ancestral homeland.”

“Acting in such a manner is not a sustainable long-term strategy.”

“If Master has any proposals, I earnestly implore you to share them,” Yin Xu responded swiftly.

“First, we must address the issue with the Holy Court; other concerns can be attended to afterward,” Xu Zimei stated, gesturing dismissively.

No objections were raised.

As they departed the Imperial Palace and gazed towards the firmament above, gathering clouds were visible across the expanse.

A colossal Divine Dragon was observed coiling its way towards them.

However, a closer examination revealed that this Divine Dragon was not a living entity, but rather a construct of mechanical components.

Its immense length spanned several thousand meters, and despite its artificial nature, it appeared remarkably lifelike, radiating an imposing aura.

This was the Bone Dragon, meticulously constructed from the skeletal remains of powerful beings vanquished by the Holy Court.

Beyond its sheer might, it possessed the remarkable ability to traverse both time and space, serving as a swift mode of conveyance.

The individual leading this contingent from the Holy Court was none other than one of their Thirty-Six Holy Generals.

Known as the Thousand Eyes Holy General.

It had always been presumed that matters concerning the Buddha Country fell under his purview.

When the Buddha Country experienced its ascendancy, it was under his decree that it was initially razed.

For the Holy Court, the Buddha Country had long since dwindled in significance; esteemed figures like the Holy Ancestor and the Immortal Lord would not divert their focus toward such a minor entity.

Consequently, the Thousand Eyes Holy General assumed this task himself.

Against the current state of the Buddha Country, the Thousand Eyes Holy General could, without question, annihilate them instantly.

Yet, there are times when the act of destruction itself loses its profound meaning.

His intention was to allow the Buddha Country to be gradually eroded through prolonged suffering and torment.

Consider, when devotees are prevented from pursuing their faith, the resulting anguish can often be more unbearable than death itself.

The Bone Dragon coiled through the void, its draconic majesty casting an aura of dread over the entirety of Zhoushou City.

Accompanied by hundreds of Holy Court soldiers, the Thousand Eyes Holy General descended into the void, appearing akin to divine beings looking down with utter disdain upon the mortals below.

Notably, in the grasp of the Thousand Eyes Holy General, a considerably long iron chain was visible.

This chain stretched for at least several hundred meters, bearing signs of rust yet maintaining an extraordinary resilience.

One extremity of the chain was held firmly in the Thousand Eyes Holy General’s hand.

The other end was bound around the necks of over a dozen individuals.

These individuals resembled living specters, their appearances disheveled and clothing tattered, exuding an aura of imminent demise.

These were individuals who had previously transgressed against the Holy Court and were now held captive.

An offer was presented by the Thousand Eyes Holy General.

If they were to eliminate the King of the Yinchang Kingdom, their freedom would be granted.

While the crowd trembled before the might of Heaven and Earth Power, and the repercussions from the prayers of many.

Nevertheless, a sliver of hope remained for some, urging them to take a gamble, just in case an opportunity arose.

Otherwise, they faced a grim fate, enduring torment until death within the prisons of the Holy Court.

It was an unavoidable situation, with no other recourse.

The Thousand Eyes Holy General gazed down and declared with a dismissive tone, “If your king does not show himself, I will raze Zhoushou City today. My patience is wearing thin.”

“I have arrived,” Yin Xu’s voice resonated calmly as he emerged from the Imperial Palace.

He felt a surge of anxiety, for as king, he could not stand by while his people suffered immense losses.

His gaze fixed directly upon the Holy Court.

He inquired gently, “What is it that you truly desire?”

“Yin Xu, our intentions have already been made abundantly clear,” the Thousand Eyes Holy General responded placidly.

“You must destroy all the statues within the Imperial Palace, and no one else is to interfere; it must be done by your own hands.”

“Otherwise, the Yinchang Kingdom will face utter annihilation at our hands.”

A sense of smug satisfaction washed over the Thousand Eyes Holy General.

To force someone to dismantle their own faith, what a delightful prospect!

Yin Xu’s fists clenched, his teeth grinding, as rage consumed him.

However, the situation was beyond his control.

He could only turn his eyes toward Xu Zimei.

“Has the Holy Court always conducted themselves in such a manner?”

Xu Zimei let out a soft chuckle.

Upon hearing this voice suddenly intrude, the Thousand Eyes Holy General’s brow furrowed.

He retorted sharply, “Boy, since when did you earn the right to speak in this place?”

Xu Zimei did not engage with the retort, but continued, “It is spoken that the Heavenly Dao, the most formidable power in existence, upholds the Holy Court.

And the Holy Ancestor himself is described as the paramount being in all the world.”

“Kid, that is common knowledge; you need not inform me,” the Thousand Eyes Holy General stated coldly.

“Yet, the world’s immensity is not solely the domain of the Heavenly Dao itself.

It is the collective endeavors of all existence that have shaped this vast realm into what it is today.”

“A flourishing world is not the achievement of a single entity.

Likewise, a world in decline is not the failure of one alone.”

Xu Zimei elaborated further.

“What cryptic message are you attempting to convey, speaking in such riddles?” the Thousand Eyes Holy General inquired icily.

“Recently, within the Catastrophe Demon Domain, I observed the Holy Court employing the inhabitants of a realm as mere experimental subjects.

And now, in the Heaven Extreme Realm, I witness the Holy Court poised to obliterate an entire nation’s populace with such ease.”

“Are the lives of ordinary citizens truly as worthless as dogs?”
