I Really Am A Villain Chapter 90 - Time Reversal
đ˘ New Novel Launch!
A disciple passing by the artificial hill discovered Nie Xingqingâs corpse.
When Sect Lord Luo Changhe arrived at the scene with everyone, Grand Elder Fanyun turned pale at the sight.
âThereâs no saving her,â Luo Changhe said after checking Nie Xingqingâs condition. His tone was heavy.
âSince this happened in your Sacred Spring Sect, shouldnât you give us an explanation?â Fanyun said coldly.
âRest assured, Grand Elder Fanyun,â Luo Changhe nodded. âIâve already sealed the sect gates, no one is allowed to leave. After the inner court competition ends, Iâll thoroughly investigate every disciple in the sect.â
Xu Zimo glanced at Luo Changhe, feeling something was off. Normally, when a guest sectâs Saintess is murdered on your grounds, wouldnât a sect lord drop everything and investigate immediately? Postponing for a competition seemed bizarre.
From Luo Changheâs attitude, it appeared that the relationship between Sacred Spring Sect and Immortal Spirit Sect wasnât as friendly as rumored.
âAre you trying to protect the murderer?â Fanyunâs face darkened. âBy the time the competition ends, everything will already be settled.â
âYouâre making baseless accusations,â Luo Changhe snapped back. âJust because she died here doesnât mean weâre entirely at fault. Maybe she offended someone, and they came here to kill her.â
âWeâll take responsibility, but Iâm not dodging anything. Iâve already said weâll investigate after the tournament.â
âLuo Changhe, is this your revenge for what happened back then?â Fanyunâs tone turned bitter as she dropped all pretense.
Nie Xingqingâs death wasnât just the loss of years of cultivation effort. She was carrying Wind Ancestorâs legacy. If that legacy was lost, Fanyun would become the scapegoat of the Immortal Spirit Sect.
âIâm not that petty,â Luo Changhe said coolly. âBut we donât know who the killer is yet. Weâll take responsibility, but donât push all the blame onto us without evidence.â
âYou want evidence?â Fanyun growled, the pressure of her Imperial Meridian Realm cultivation exploding outward.
Spiritforce swirled around her. Behind her, a pale blue vortex formed.
As it appeared, she moved her hands apart in the air, as if parting time and space.
In front of her, a white curtain materialized out of thin air.
âWhat is that?â Lu Ang asked Xu Zimo.
âNo idea,â Xu Zimo replied.
âItâs Time Reversal, a manifestation of Grand Elder Fanyunâs True Fate ability,â said Grand Elder Tianzhen. âAs long as the death happened within 24 hours, she can use it to replay the deceasedâs last hour before death.â
âThatâs impressive,â Luang said, intrigued.
When cultivators reach the Desolate Meridian Realm, they can condense a True Fate. Upon reaching the Imperial Meridian Realm, they can manifest that True Fate with special powers unique to each individual.
âŚ
As Grand Elder Fanyunâs hands moved across the curtain, images began to appear.
Everyone focused on the scene.
In the moonlit night behind the hill, Nie Xingqing lay motionless on the ground. Two black-robed figures sat beside her.
They sat in silence for nearly an hour. Grand Elder Fanyunâs face darkened.
She realized these people may have known about her ability, so they masked themselves and delayed the murder until the end of the hour, rendering her vision useless.
But just before the scene ended, one of the black-robed figures stood up and grabbed Nie Xingqing by the throat.
A deep voice came from him:
âBefore you die, I may as well tell you⌠I wasnât the one who destroyed the Heavenly Sword Sect. It was a guy named Chu Yang. Heâs from a little village called Sunshine, but his fortune isnât smallâŚâ
Once the man finished speaking, he ended Nie Xingqingâs life.
The two figures then left, heading toward the main gate of Sacred Spring Sect.
âChu Yang⌠Sunshine VillageâŚâ Fanyun spat the names through gritted teeth.
Her cultivation aura surged into the sky, shaking the air itself.
âCalm down, Grand Elder Fanyun,â Luo Changhe said quickly.
âOf course youâre calm, your sect didnât just lose your Sectâs Saintess,â she snapped. âBecause of this tragedy, I must return to handle the matter. As for your competition, Iâm withdrawing from it.â
âUnderstandable,â Luo Changhe replied calmly. âA Saintessâ death takes priority. Weâll also investigate thoroughly on our end.â
âFor your sake, I hope your sect is truly uninvolved,â Fanyun said before turning and storming off with her disciples.
âŚ
Watching her leave in anger, Luo Changhe turned to Grand Elder Tianzhen and smiled faintly. âI hope this incident hasnât troubled you too much.â
âItâs fine,â Tianzhen shook his head.
He then led Xu Zimo and the others to the competition grounds.
Meanwhile, Luo Changhe secretly summoned several elders and issued orders:
âOther than the disciples currently competing, search every corner of the sect. If you see anyone acting suspiciously, arrest them first, question them later.â
âŚ
âSenior Brother Lu,â Xu Zimo asked curiously, âis there some history between Sect Master Luo and Grand Elder Fanyun?â
âIâve heard some rumors,â Lu Ang replied quietly. âIâll tell you when we get back.â
Elsewhere, Grand Elder Fanyun rode her Cangluan beast at full speed back to Immortal Spirit Sect.
She needed to begin her investigation with two clues: Sunshine Village, and Chu Yang.
âŚ
At the True Martial Sacred Ground, Baili Xiao had been restless ever since returning from South Goose Mountain.
She didnât know how Xu Zimo had learned about Chu Yang, but the longer Chu Yang stayed in Sunshine Village, the more danger he was in.
Xu Zimo could use that knowledge to threaten her anytime.
So she summoned Xue Qianxue, ordering her to go to Sunshine Village, bring Chu Yang back, or find a safe place to hide him.
Only then could she rest easy, because if Xu Zimo one day decided to kill Chu Yang, she wouldnât be able to stop him.
