I Hate Systems Chapter 1113.12: Representation War (Part 12)
Previously on I Hate Systems...
Civil War!
In these tumultuous times when the Genre Representatives had broken free from the Systems' control, during a war where Grade 3 and Grade 4 Systems were preoccupied with the representatives, and when the fate of Grade 2 Systems remained uncertain, the Grade 1 Systems constituted the majority of the System World's military might. However, the situation devolved into chaos when a faction of them turned against the rest.
A System could only absorb and integrate the power of Systems from its own genre. Attempting to assimilate a Core Skill from a different genre would inflict damage based on the level disparity, potentially leading to self-destruction if it absorbed a higher-leveled Core Skill.
This restriction, however, only applied while they remained as Systems. The Grade 1 Systems who had joined the Secret Society were patiently waiting for the opportune moment to launch a surprise assault. Strategically positioning themselves amongst Grade 1 Systems they could swiftly defeat and assimilate, they initiated their attack the moment Compass Carburettor gave the signal.
"You… traitor!" the Factual Keyboard System shrieked as its form disintegrated. With its physical manifestation destroyed, all the Mental Energy comprising its being returned to the System World, revealing its Core Skill. The attacker was none other than the Hero Sword System, at level 60. It promptly swallowed the Factual Keyboard System, enduring immediate bleeding wounds due to the level difference; its opponent was, after all, level 58.
Having unleashed its most potent attack, the Hero Sword System was already in a weakened state. These new injuries only exacerbated its condition. "No, I cannot stop now. I can still swallow a few more." Evading the assaults of nearby Grade 1 Systems, the Hero Sword System focused its attention on the Hatchling Systems, effortlessly swatting them aside. It then proceeded to devour them, leaving its own body a bloody ruin.
"Trash traitor, your path ends here." A high-leveled Grade 1 System sent the Hero Sword System flying with a powerful strike, bellowing as it prepared another attack to finish the traitor. "Hahaha! Too late, dumbass!" The Hero Sword System coughed, spitting blood as a blinding light emanated from its core.
Core Skill—Hero Sword (Level 60)!
Core Skill—Factual Keyboard (Level 58)!
Core Skill—Rich Master (Level 5)!
Core Skill—Copious Beggar (Level 9)!
As a mystical power consumed the various Core Skills it had assimilated, the Hero Sword System's body underwent a dramatic transformation, morphing into a Haggon. Its previous powers served as the bedrock for its new form, and the Haggon grinned lethargically. It condensed an energy-blade sword, its hilt adorned with keyboard keys, each capable of triggering a specific effect. The Haggon raised the sword, executed three swift spins, layering three sword beams into one, and unleashed a crescent wave that repelled the high-leveled System.
"Wash your neck and wait. I'll be back." The Haggon grinned, consumed 100 Darlac, and assumed a human form. Honk! A truck, its trailer resembling a bus with over thirty seats, appeared beside him. Most of the seats were occupied by humans exuding confident, arrogant, and aggressive auras.
"See ya!" Giving a thumbs-down gesture towards the remaining Systems, the man entered the truck and claimed an empty seat. "Damn you!" The high-leveled System recoiled in shock and leaped towards the truck, only to grasp at empty air as its target vanished. One by one, the traitors digested their assimilated gains, transforming from Systems into Haggons. They then took human form, boarded trucks, and disappeared from the System World.
Though the number of traitors was a mere fraction of the total Grade 1 Systems, their strategic positioning allowed them to target valuable Grade 1 Systems. Consequently, their actions effectively severed the future of the System World. Even if Zaira emerged victorious in this war, she would be left with only useless Systems possessing minimal to no potential for growth. Rather than aiding her in rebuilding the System Race, they would drain even more Mental Energy and ultimately lead to utter collapse.
Imagine a mother with ten children, eight of whom are utterly useless. The ninth, a bright child, instead kills the tenth—the one with the most potential—and vanishes. Now, her sole recourse is to nurture her eight unproductive offspring, expending her time, resources, and all she has. Even with all this effort, there's no guarantee of any return on her investment once these children mature. This is precisely Zaira's predicament now. Compass Carburettor had pilfered all her talented Systems, leaving behind only the dregs.
While she still possessed over ninety-nine percent of the original Grade 1 Systems, not a single one among them had the potential to reach the pinnacle of Grade 1, let alone ascend to Grade 2. "You've gone too far!" Zaira unleashed a barrage of Core Skills, sending all the Genre Representatives flying away.
The figure of Compass Carburettor, which she had been relentlessly stomping upon, was suddenly seized by Zaira. She then wrapped her hands around his neck, her grip reinforced by over a thousand Core Skills. These skills combined formed an impenetrable seal, trapping Compass Carburettor in a firm chokehold.
Her form, condensed from pure energy, manifested an additional pair of hands. One of these ethereal limbs reached out, snatching the monocle from his face. Rays of Hate Erasure shot from the monocle, but they were utterly overwhelmed, dissolving into the immense tsunami of Mental Energy that Zaira unleashed.
With a forceful squeeze, the monocle shattered into countless fragments. Its power broken, the laws of the universe it contained were shredded into nothingness.
In retaliation, Compass Carburettor clenched his right fist and struck her face, causing one side of her countenance to collapse inward. Yet, the damage eerily healed itself. Zaira gazed at him, her eyes burning with hatred. Her secondary pair of hands swiftly removed the glove from his right hand, tearing it to shreds.
Mirroring the destruction of his monocle, Zaira annihilated his Universal Anthozoa. She didn't falter, proceeding to dismantle the Boot of Transmigration and the Suit of Mortality.
Finally, Zaira lifted the Ring of Secrecy, her expression contorted as she fixed her gaze upon it. "The origin of the power that influenced my Systems lies within this. Once I obliterate it, everything will revert to its original state. Is that not correct..."
Her grip tightened, causing blood to ooze from Compass Carburettor's face. "Compass?"
