I Hate Systems Chapter 1110.9: Representation War (Part 9)
Previously on I Hate Systems...
"N-No, please spare me!" The Fate System fragment within the Unlucky Tower of Ruin screamed in terror as it was pinned beneath the tail of an immense serpent, progressively being pulverized.
"Nope, you're delectable." Dita defied its desperate plea and expelled a noxious vapor that instantly encased the Fate System fragment in ice. Subsequently, Dita consumed it and entwined itself around the Unlucky Tower of Ruin like a colossal python, assisting its digestive process.
It was named Dita merely by designation. In reality, it wielded all the formidable powers that Slayer possessed just before his consciousness fractured. Essentially, it retained the very essence of the entity that housed the Representative System.
And now, the objective Compass Carburettor sought to accomplish was quite straightforward. He intended to gather fragments of the concepts of Time, Space, and Fate. These would be retained by Dita. Given that Time and Fate were under the dominion of Grade 4 Systems, acquiring them directly was an impossibility.
However, by employing Lore and Tell-Tale, Compass Carburettor would achieve the ability to possess them momentarily. It is important to acknowledge that he already held dominion over three concepts at this juncture: Mortality, Space, and Representation.
Ultimately, the Secret Society functioned as an extension of his might. With both Ahjar and Dita as its constituents, this was a foregone conclusion.
Furthermore, there existed the concept of Strength, which was embodied by the Ancient Strengthening System. Yet, because it was presently in a state of unchecked frenzy, Compass Carburettor had no intention of intervening. Even for him, subduing such madness would demand a significant expenditure of time and resources.
Much like Zaira, he found himself incapable of eradicating the madness, even when deploying his Psyche Stars relentlessly. It appeared that the genesis of this derangement stemmed from a Mystique far more potent than any he had previously encountered.
Its power resided at a level exceeding his current capacity to influence. This was the precise reason he elected to abandon the Ancient Strengthening System to its uncontrollable condition.
"Why don't you simply end my existence?" Stencil cried out, ensnared on the lowest level of the Unlucky Tower of Ruin, her weakening form incapable of breaking free from the binding chains. The prolonged duration only amplified the rate at which her strength was siphoned by the tower.
Meanwhile, Compass Carburettor journeyed across numerous worlds, actively hunting down the Fate System fragments scattered throughout them. As these were merely fragments, each possessing an individual strength capped at Grade 2, they posed no challenge whatsoever to him.
Confronting the full Fate System was fraught with peril, but its fragments? They were facile prey. While traversing the various universes, Compass Carburettor assimilated every stray sun he encountered along his path.
Presently, through the agency of the Secret Society, he was being fortified by the concepts of Space and Representation, not to mention his inherent concept of Mortality. Consequently, unless he unleashed a full-scale Genre Representation, his energy reserves would remain virtually inexhaustible.
However, this did not imply that he could forsake his Psyche Stars. They demonstrated consistent efficacy, even against Mystique entities. Moreover, it was the Psyche Stars that granted him the capability to manifest the powers of Dreamcraft.
As long as a sufficient stockpile of them was maintained, he could passively exert influence over his adversaries, much like his past engagement with Arnark, without even needing to expend them directly.
Hunting Fate System fragments, accumulating Psyche Stars, and converting Grade 1 Systems into members of the Secret Society before sacrificing them to fortify the foundational laws of disparate worlds, Compass Carburettor remained diligently occupied.
Despite not being positioned on the primary battlefront, his strategic actions in the background effectively prevented the Systems from repelling the Genre Representatives as they typically would. Consequently, the conflict persisted indefinitely, devoid of any discernible end in sight.
After all, Systems possessed the ability to revive. Likewise, Genre Representatives could also achieve this feat. Thus, both factions engaged in a ceaseless cycle of mutual destruction. It was a protracted war of attrition, where the side possessing a more robust foundation would ultimately prevail.
Had the circumstances been different, the Systems would have faced defeat. However, with the dawn of the System Supremacy era, Systems had seized control of more than half of the multiverse's collective resources.
Though the elapsed time was slightly over seven millennia, during this relatively short span, through the mechanism of the Representative System, the System World had amassed Mental Energy reserves that would have ordinarily required millions of years to accumulate through conventional means.
This was primarily due to their direct acquisition from the Genre Representatives. This figure did not even account for the continuous efforts of all Systems in their ongoing cultivation of Mental Energy.
And throughout those seven thousand years, they encountered no significant opposition. Thus, the Systems expanded with unbridled arrogance. Consequently, it would prove exceedingly difficult to truly deplete the Mental Energy reserves of the System World.
As the epochs unfolded, the Genre Representatives found themselves progressively ceding ground. While Genre Representatives could indeed resurrect, their respective armies could not.
In stark contrast, provided their core data remained intact, the Systems possessed the means to revive endlessly. As a result, the tide of the war was gradually turning against the Genre Representatives.
"Charge!" Rahakh bellowed, unleashing a barrage of Core Skills consecutively as spectral chains erupted from the System World's terrain to ensnare him. He continuously shifted his arsenal of Core Skills, aiming for unpredictability.
Stencil, Gehera, and Rhizen had already plunged into the fray. Since Compass Carburettor had been unable to eliminate them with his powers, they simply revived within the System World. Subsequently, they joined the battle, determined to secure victory.
Should the Genre Representatives be incapacitated, Compass Carburettor's tactics would be rendered futile against the overwhelming might of the Systems.
"Is that the extent of your abilities?" Technocraft morphed into a streaking comet, colliding with the System World's cosmic confines and fracturing them extensively.
The Reincarnation System pursued him relentlessly, patching the damage while launching a counter-offensive. A potent temporal rift surged from its attack, Zeroing in on Technocraft and causing his form to waver. His offensive capabilities diminished, and his condensed essence appeared on the verge of disintegration.
If this were to occur, it would necessitate approximately a full year for his essence to reform. Such was the potency of the time-manipulating assault deployed by the Reincarnation System.
"No! You swore you'd never make me cry!" Fluff materialized abruptly before him, collapsing into his arms and dissolving into tears. Her voice resonated, stirring the emotions of all present, allies and adversaries alike.
The Power of Friendship!
The formidable ability afflicting Technocraft dissipated. He overcame the affliction, his recovery swift. Flexing, he conjured a plasma cannon and unleashed a pulse of plasma at the Reincarnation System, puncturing its very being. "Thanks, Fluff," he uttered.
"Always here for you!" Winking charmingly, Fluff vanished, her cries soon emanating from the vicinity of another Genre Representative, enabling them to break free from a Core Skill's grasp as well.
While Fluff possessed the least offensive might, her supportive capabilities positioned her as the catalyst for maximizing plot armor.
