I Can See Through All Things' Information Chapter 4 Fishing Spots

Little Yan eagerly watched as Lu Qing crafted a fishing rod, hopeful that their day would bring fish for soup. Despite his recent illness, news of his recovery spread through the village, surprising many who believed he was on the brink of death. Aunt Wang expressed her concern over his health but also a sense of relief that he was better, especially for Little Yan's future. As they set off to try their luck fishing, they encountered curious villagers, some skeptical of Lu Qing's fishing skills, while a few children decided to accompany them, intrigued by the prospect of the adventure ahead.

Accompanied by a group of small followers, Lu Qing made his way to the riverbank located just outside the village.

The waterway was modest in size, spanning only about ten meters at its widest point.

Despite its narrow width, the river possessed significant depth—enough to completely submerge a grown man in certain areas—which led the village adults to strictly forbid the local children from playing near the water.

Lu Qing was not one to ignore such warnings.

Consequently, upon arriving at the bank, he turned to the children trailing him and issued a stern command: "Listen up, stay away from the edge and don't even think about getting in the water, understood?"

Though he possessed a lean frame, Lu Qing’s age of fourteen or fifteen made him appear as a mature figure in the eyes of these youngsters.

Fearing his authority, the children dared not resist and replied dutifully, "We understand, Brother Lu Qing."

Once he was sure they would behave, Lu Qing turned his attention to Little Yan. "And you, Little Yan, be a good girl and stay back from the bank. Your job is to watch the bucket and make sure no fish escape, alright?"

"Okay~" Little Yan chirped obediently before tilting her head. "Brother, when are you going to start?"

"Don't be impatient; I need to observe a bit more. You can't just pick any random spot if you want to catch anything."

This was a piece of wisdom Lu Qing had earned through long experience.

To be a successful angler, one had to follow several vital procedures.

From selecting the location and baiting the area to adjusting the float and prepping the lure—every single detail dictated whether a fish would bite.

Of all these factors, choosing the right location was undeniably the most critical.

The quality of the spot determined the very odds of success.

After all, one cannot cook a meal without rice; if there are no fish beneath the surface of a poorly chosen spot,

even a master fisherman with the most refined techniques would find his efforts ending in total failure.

In his previous life, Lu Qing had been a passionate fisherman, gaining deep insights into the craft.

Because of this, he was quite skilled at identifying promising waters.

Even though he had been transported to a different world,

he believed that the fundamental laws governing nature remained largely the same.

The fish of this Otherworld likely behaved much like those he knew.

He hoped that by applying his past expertise, he could select a prime location to make this outing both efficient and fruitful.

He didn't even consider "chumming" or baiting the water today; his household was so low on food that there wasn't a scrap to spare for the fish.

After ordering the children to stay put under the shade of a large tree, Lu Qing began pacing the riverbank, his eyes scanning the water's surface intently.

It wasn't long before he found a place that looked advantageous.

Using a sturdy stick to flatten the thick weeds at the water's edge, he stepped closer to investigate.

The spot was a gentle bend in the river where the current slowed and aquatic plants grew thick—an ideal habitat for fish.

Lu Qing felt a sense of satisfaction as he observed the area. Just as he was about to head back for his gear, a shimmer of grey light caught his eye.

This grey radiance was intimately familiar to Lu Qing; he had encountered it many times throughout the day.

He stood perfectly still, focusing his gaze on the water.

The grey light rose slowly to the surface, manifesting as a swirling pattern about a meter wide upon the ripples.

Suddenly, a notification appeared before him:

"Ordinary Fishing Spot: A gathering place for small fish. A solid choice for an angler."

The prompt hovered exactly over the location Lu Qing had just hand-picked.

Lu Qing blinked in astonishment, followed quickly by a surge of excitement.

His unique ability actually possessed such a function? It could even identify fishing locations?

He also felt a touch of vanity.

It seemed his instincts were sharp; his chosen spot had been validated by his superpower.

Fueled by this discovery, Lu Qing was no longer in a hurry to cast his line.

He continued his trek along the bank, now intentionally using his ability to scout for more locations across the water.

Before long, he pinpointed two additional spots along this stretch of the river.

To his delight, one of these spots didn't emit a grey light, but rather a soft white glow.

Ordinary Fishing Spot: A common route for schools of fish seeking food. Fishing here should provide a steady catch.

Primary Fishing Point: A place where wild fruits frequently drop into the water, attracting larger fish.

Fishing here may result in a rare and unexpected harvest.

Three descriptions appeared; the first belonged to the grey light, while the latter two detailed the white light location.

"So, the grey and white lights indeed represent different tiers," Lu Qing whispered to himself. "Grey denotes an Ordinary Fishing Spot, while white marks a Primary Fishing Point."

Furthermore, the descriptions hinted that even higher-level spots existed.

He wondered if such legendary spots could be found further downstream, away from the village.

Having identified these three locations, Lu Qing decided to stop his search.

These spots covered the most accessible part of the riverbank near the village.

Venture any further, and the vegetation became too thick and the ground too treacherous to navigate.

Without proper tools to clear a path, it would be difficult to even reach the water, let alone fish.

He simply didn't have the stamina for such labor right now.

Besides, these three spots were more than enough for his current needs.

The question now was which one to prioritize.

After a moment of thought, Lu Qing chose the very first spot he had found.

His reasoning was practical.

The superpower indicated that the first spot was full of smaller fish.

The rod Lu Qing had built was extremely primitive.

He wasn't sure how much tension his handmade hemp line could take before snapping.

If he aimed for the big fish at the Primary Fishing Point and his line broke, he would be devastated.

There was hardly any hemp left at home to make a replacement line.

Worse yet, he only had one set of hooks. Losing them would mean the end of his fishing career.

Starting with the smaller fish was the safest path forward.

With his plan set, Lu Qing walked back to the large tree. Seeing the children waiting exactly where he left them, he gave a satisfied nod.

He hadn't actually wandered far, making sure to stay within their line of sight so they wouldn't panic or wander off.

"Big brother, you're back!"

Little Yan was the first to notice him, greeting him with a bright smile.

"Yes, I'm back."

"So, did you find a good place?"

"I did. Let's head over there now."

At his words, the children's excitement flared up again.

The more energetic boys rushed forward to grab the equipment. "Brother Lu Qing, let me carry the bucket for you!"

Lu Qing allowed it. The oldest boys were eleven or twelve, while the youngest were around eight; they were at an age where they needed to burn off their restless energy.

The small troupe soon arrived at the designated area.

"Stay up here on the slope and watch. Don't go near the water's edge, you hear? Ah Hu, you're the oldest, so make sure they stay put."

Ah Hu, being twelve, was old enough to take the responsibility seriously.

"You can count on me, Brother Lu Qing!"

Satisfied with their obedience, Lu Qing took his rod and the bucket and made his way down to the water's edge.
