I Can Copy Talents Chapter 5: 0005

Previously on I Can Copy Talents...
Ye Tian fused his copied talent, enduring immense pain before his cultivation talent upgraded to Medium. He then immediately began practicing the Body Forging Method and, after a month of diligent training, reached 200 catties of strength. While walking home, an alarm suddenly sounded, signaling an approaching beast.

"Beast!!"

.

Ye Tian stood there, completely stunned.

Although he had never personally encountered a fierce beast, rumors of their terror were everywhere. It was said they could massacre commoners with ease, and only warriors possessed the strength to oppose them.

Encircling the seaside base was a massive perimeter of defensive walls, yet these fortifications occasionally failed to keep the fierce beasts at bay. Sometimes, they managed to breach the defenses and rampage through the base.

For an ordinary person, crossing paths with a fierce beast resulted in only one possible outcome: certain death.

"I have to get home!"

Ye Tian’s thoughts immediately flew to his sister, Ye Yu. Their home was quite close to this area, and those flimsy residential walls would offer no protection against such a monster. He was consumed by worry for her safety.

As he sprinted, Ye Tian caught a fleeting glimpse of a silver-white blur darting through the far end of the street. Everywhere that silver shadow flickered, ordinary people fell dead in its wake.

"What incredible speed!"

Ye Tian was shaken to the core.

Even from a distance, the creature moved faster than the human eye could track. He realized with horror that if he were any closer, he would likely be slaughtered before he could even register the beast's shadow.

"If I cross paths with that thing, I’m dead!"

Ye Tian realized.

He wasn't delusional enough to believe he was some invincible protagonist who could survive any disaster, nor was he foolish enough to try and fight the creature.

When faced with an impossible situation, the only logical choice is to flee immediately!

Ye Tian was a practical man, so he ran.

Unfortunately, his pace was pathetic compared to the fierce beast, which seemed to be tearing through the streets in his general direction.

Ye Tian was aware that he wasn't the specific target, but if he happened to be in the beast's path, the creature certainly wouldn't mind flicking out a claw to end his life.

"Vile creature! How dare you slaughter people within the base!"

Led by a middle-aged man, several warriors suddenly charged forward and efficiently boxed the beast in.

"Look! It’s the Wind Wolf Hunting Squad!"

Someone in the crowd cried out.

The Wind Wolf Hunting Squad?

Ye Tian recognized the name instantly. They were a famous local team. Their leader, known by the title Wind Wolf, was a powerful master at the late stage of martial arts. Under his command were over ten warriors at the early and mid-stages of cultivation.

The arrival of the Wind Wolf Hunting Squad brought a collective sigh of relief from the onlookers, and some even stopped to watch the spectacle.

"Get back! This beast is dangerous!"

Captain Wind Wolf barked a warning at the spectators gathered nearby.

Snapped out of their daze by the captain’s shout, the crowd finally realized the danger. A battle between warriors and fierce beasts was no casual entertainment; a single mistake could cost a bystander their life before a warrior could even intervene.

Retreat! Fall back!

The crowd scattered, and while Ye Tian also moved to a safe distance, he didn't leave entirely.

He was desperate to see the true extent of a warrior's combat power.

The clash began in an instant!

Captain Wind Wolf lunged, his blade flashing brilliantly under the night sky. The strike was devastating; the sheer force of his sword carved a three-meter-long gouge into the stone street.

However, the beast was incredibly agile and managed to leap away from the blow.

"Such terrifying power... he sliced right through the reinforced stone of the street. If that hit a person, they’d be cleaved in two instantly. Is this the true strength of a warrior?"

A sense of longing stirred within Ye Tian.

The members of the Wind Wolf Hunting Squad drew their weapons and engaged the beast, their faces etched with grim determination.

Suddenly.

One of the warriors was sent flying by a brutal swipe of the beast's paw, a gory wound ripped across his chest.

"Xiaobai!"

Captain Wind Wolf cast a worried glance at his comrade, but he couldn't stop to help. He doubled down on his assault against the beast.

Though the fierce beast had maimed one warrior, the overwhelming numbers of the squad began to take their toll, and the creature was soon covered in wounds.

"Watch out, the brute is trying to bolt!"

Captain Wind Wolf warned.

Just as he predicted.

Sensing its impending defeat, the beast transformed into a streak of silver light, bursting through the perimeter in a desperate attempt to escape.

At that moment, an arrow whistled through the air from afar, striking the beast true.

With a heavy thud, the creature tumbled onto the pavement, finally revealing its true form.

"It’s a Silver Moon Marten!"

Ye Tian finally got a clear look at it.

The creature was about a meter long, possessing razor-sharp talons and glowing crimson eyes.

"Xiao Yue’s shot hit the mark! The Silver Moon Marten is badly hurt. Finish it off, everyone! This kill will fund us for a whole month!"

Captain Wind Wolf shouted with excitement.

It was clear that a Silver Moon Marten was a highly valuable prize.

Though the mangled marten was no longer a match for the squad, it refused to go down quietly.

Suddenly.

A vibrant silver radiance erupted from its fur, and its aura intensified violently.

"Careful! It's igniting its bloodline for a final strike!"

Captain Wind Wolf roared, signaling his team to be on guard.

Boom!!

The warriors scrambled backward, terrified of being caught in the marten's suicidal eruption.

But instead of attacking the warriors, the silver marten veered sharply and lunged toward the gathered civilians.

The warriors' expressions paled as they realized the creature's malicious intent!

"Everyone, run!"

Captain Wind Wolf screamed at the distant crowd.

It was futile. The Silver Moon Marten was far too fast, especially with its bloodline power surging. The ordinary people had no hope of dodging.

In the blink of an eye, the marten plowed into the group.

There were no complex techniques, just a raw, high-speed collision that sent people flying. Many lay still on the ground, their fates uncertain.

Suddenly.

Another arrow hissed through the air, fired by Xiao Yue, who remained hidden in the shadows.

Poof!!

The projectile buried itself deep into the marten's existing wound.

Already at death's door, the Silver Moon Marten finally collapsed, its life force rapidly fading away.

The survivors fled in terror, wanting nothing to do with the carcass.

However, a lone young man stepped forward, reaching out to gently touch the silver fur of the dead beast.

"Young man, you’ve got guts. You dare to touch a fierce beast?"

Captain Wind Wolf walked over, a small laugh escaping him.

"It’s my first time seeing one. I couldn't help but be curious," the youth replied, looking somewhat sheepish.

Captain Wind Wolf nodded approvingly. "You’re not bad, kid. I can see you’re already a martial apprentice. Reaching this level at your age shows promise. If you manage to become a true warrior, I’ll welcome you into our squad!"

"Thank you, Captain Wind Wolf!"

The young man answered with feigned excitement.

The Wind Wolf Hunting Squad didn't waste any more time. They collected the marten’s body and departed.

Left alone on the street, the young man who had just spoken with the captain began to giggle to himself. Bystanders who saw him figured the poor kid had lost his mind.

After all, becoming a warrior was no easy feat; the Captain’s words were likely just empty flattery.

But the youth wasn't laughing because of the Captain's promise.

This young man was Ye Tian.

"Haha! I never imagined the second talent I’d copy would come from a fierce beast!"

Ye Tian whispered, his heart racing with thrill.
