I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 844: Opening the Way
“Heh heh heh heh… from this moment on, this is our battlefield.”
Augusta stood at the very front of the bridge, gazing at the gray-yellow plane on the light screen, the corner of her mouth lifting freely into a smile full of invasive intent.
She slowly raised her right hand and pointed at that heavy plane barrier in the distance, the outline of the whole plane reflected in her black eyes.
“With your wisdom, your cruelty, your power, go and conquer this world!”
The next moment, the dozen or so young wizards all showed excited expressions, the fighting spirit in their eyes very nearly spilling over.
“Heh heh heh heh! As you command!”
Standing beside Augusta, Jie Ming could not help turning his head to look at her.
The Augusta of ordinary days was forever that cold, keep-your-distance figure.
Who would have thought that where a plane war was concerned, this young lady could deliver so standard a villain’s declaration so naturally.
Feeling Jie Ming’s gaze, Augusta turned her face slightly, her expression as calm as still water.
“What is it?”
Jie Ming laughed. “Nothing. It only struck me that you really are well suited to war.”
Augusta raised an eyebrow. “War ought to look like war in the first place. If one has not even the resolve to conquer a plane, what sort of wizard is one?”
Jie Ming nodded. “That is fair.”
He then said nothing more.
Hmmm…
A vast law fluctuation spread out from within him with a roar.
The dark golden Law Solidification Domain spread out like a tide and in a blink had covered the whole bridge and the dozen or so young wizards entirely.
“Let us go.”
As the words fell, the decking overhead opened slowly, and the whole dark golden domain shot abruptly into the air.
Like a golden meteor, it swept out from the warship’s deck, drawing a straight, blazing trail of light through the Endless Chaotic Void.
A moment later they hung outside the plane barrier.
Before them was a heavy, murky gray-yellow barrier, wrapping the whole world firmly within it like an enormous piece of amber.
Jie Ming slowly stepped forward.
Boom!
Around his body, dark golden radiance swelled at speed.
The Third Layer Dharma Form, two hundred and fifty thousand kilometers tall, descended into the void once more!
The vast golden giant was like some ancient god standing amid chaos.
Every breath it took raised great swaths of energy turbulence surging in every direction.
Though the dozen or so young wizards had long since heard tell of Jie Ming’s Dharma Form, at the moment of truly seeing it with their own eyes they still could not help holding their breath.
“This power…”
“It is outrageous…”
“Merely standing there, it carries more pressure than our whole legion put together.”
Augusta only watched it all calmly.
She had long since seen what Jie Ming looked like when he genuinely made a move; set against that, this was no more than a beginning.
The golden giant slowly extended both arms, and its two sky-blotting hands pressed steadily against the plane barrier.
Crack…
Amid the sound of splitting, dense fissures appeared across the plane barrier.
And then all ten fingers exerted force at once!
Screech…
An ear-splitting grinding sound rose abruptly, the heavy plane barrier shuddered violently, and countless spatial laws converged madly, trying to repair the fissures before them.
But the powers of the two sides were simply not on the same level.
Crash!!
A few breaths later, with a great roar, the entire plane barrier was torn bodily open into a huge rift several kilometers long.
Chaotic spatial storms poured wildly into the plane through the breach.
Jie Ming looked down and, through that dim yellow atmosphere, saw clearly the whole of this world.
As far as the eye could see there was only a deathly gray-yellow expanse of rocky plain.
The sky was covered by thick yellow dust cloud, and after the light projected by the fire elemental plane pierced the cloud layer, all that remained was a dim, oppressive dusk blanketing the whole land.
The entire plane was like an enormous rock that had been dead for untold years.
He narrowed his eyes slowly, silver radiance turning, and the True-False Void-Piercing Pupil ran of its own accord.
The world instantly became something else entirely.
In his field of vision there were no longer mountains or rivers, only countless dense points of soul-light covering the whole continent.
Within the True-False Void-Piercing Pupil’s field of vision, every piece of rock was breathing slowly.
The mushroom-men lying prone across the rock strata had bodies already merged with the stone, their caps covered in thick dust and broken rock, their soul fluctuations so faint as to be very nearly imperceptible.
Without careful examination, one would probably take them instinctively for ordinary rocks.
But beyond them, there was no other life at all.
Looking at that boundless gray land, he could not help shaking his head lightly. “What a deathly silent world.”
“These fellows have probably long since eaten the whole plane’s resources clean.” Augusta flew to his side and likewise looked down at the desolation below.
The Law Solidification Domain beneath her feet had long since unfolded, replacing Jie Ming’s Law Solidification Domain and stabilizing the surrounding elements for those dozen or so wizards.
Augusta looked at the life signals covering very nearly the whole continent, her tone sinking slightly:
“It seems it is as the reconnaissance intelligence said. Because of the long lack of food, most of the mushroom-men have entered a low-activity dormancy. Fortunately so, though; we need not worry about being attacked while opening the plane barrier, otherwise…”
“Even I would find it troublesome.” Jie Ming nodded.
Where quality is not poor, sufficient numbers are themselves a terrible kind of power.
A hundred billion transcendent lives, led by seventh-level life, was enough to brew a catastrophe.
On the basis of the situation before them, the two soon completed their tactical confirmation.
“In that case, we cannot wake too many at once,” Jie Ming said. “Advance by region.”
Augusta nodded. “Clear it patch by patch.”
“Also.” Jie Ming added, “every cannon-fodder corpse that falls must be recovered without exception. This plane’s resources are impoverished in the extreme. Any corpse left behind could become fodder for them to breed again.”
While they talked, Jie Ming’s hands had not stopped.
Crack…
As he kept exerting force, the rift, originally only a few kilometers long, was slowly pushed wider to either side again.
In the end it formed a spatial breach wide enough for a legion to pour through en masse.
Then he used the power of his Law Solidification Domain to fix the breach firmly in place.
Even as the plane’s origin kept trying to repair it, it could not close again in any short time.
“Begin.” Jie Ming slowly withdrew half a step.
Augusta turned to face the dozen or so young figures behind her and calmly gave the order:
“You should all have heard the requirements we just discussed. Summon every cannon-fodder unit you have. Now, everyone, attack!”
Boom!
The dozen or so wizards activated their legion spaces at once, and enormous spatial gates unfolded one after another through the void.
Like a flood bursting a dyke, close to a million cannon-fodder legionaries of every different form came surging wildly out.
These cannon-fodder creatures took every kind of shape: alchemical puppets sheathed in heavy armor, beast-shaped modified bodies on all fours, biological weapons with insect carapaces, even elemental bodies hanging in midair wound about with runes…
The dense mass of legion soldiery blotted out the whole sky.
Then the cannon-fodder units poured wildly down through that huge rift like a black flood and surged into the plane.
