I Arrived At Wizard World While Cultivating Immortality Chapter 759: A Special Find
On the ground, the wreckage of the autonomous sentry guns was still giving off wisps of smoke.
Jie Ming, with several Black Giant priests in tow, crossed the sentry zone around the factory’s perimeter, a stretch of ground already blasted past recognition.
The metal floor underfoot was covered everywhere in scorch marks where it had been melted through, and the air still held the searing smell left behind by high-energy weapons fire.
Above the factory, the warships of the Tentacle Tree Civilization still hung motionless.
Their shipboard close-in guns kept up a precision cleanup of the sentry guns that occasionally popped up around the perimeter, pale blue beams cutting the air one after another, reducing to scrap in midair the guns that had only just been ejected from their underground launch silos.
The Tentacle Tree commander in charge of clearing the site reported over the comm channel the moment he saw Jie Ming. “Report! Enemy resistance is largely reduced. Estimated time to clear the site is one and a half standard hours.”
Jie Ming heard him out and thought it too slow. Without the slightest hesitation, he gave a casual wave of his hand.
The next moment, several sixth-level Black Giants behind him simply crossed the cordon the Tentacle Tree Civilization had just drawn.
The vertical mouths on their chests snapped open, surging energy condensing between their jaws into a tide of red light compressed to the utmost, which then swept out in a fan. Boom!!!
The last few rows of sentry guns around the factory perimeter, along with their launch silos, were blasted into slag, fragments of metal and molten runic components spraying in every direction.
Only after confirming that no more sentry guns were coming out to attack did Jie Ming step forward.
A metal door several meters thick blocked the factory’s main entrance, its alloy surface etched with dense channels for drawing energy, a row of shield generators, long since dead, still fixed along both sides of the frame.
He stood before it and laid a hand against it.
The light of alchemy spread slowly out from beneath his palm, seeping along the metal surface like a layer of invisible fine flame.
The whole door softened outward layer by layer from the center, its metal molecules rearranging themselves until they set into an arched passage wide enough for several people to walk abreast. Behind the door was a dim corridor.
Emergency lighting runes were still giving off a feeble glow, the light flickering on and off as though it might go out at any moment.
The air was thick with the sharp mixed odor of machine oil and ozone, cut with the faint burnt smell that overheated metal leaves behind.
Jie Ming was in no hurry to rush in.
His mental energy had already gone ahead and scanned out the factory’s interior structure in full, laying it open across his spiritual sea.
It was a highly automated facility integrating resource extraction and processing.
Precision mechanical arms stood in neat rows along both sides of the production line, and conveyor belts carried ore straight up from the underground mining level to the sorting area.
The ore then passed through three processes, crushing, screening and purification, before it was finally fed into the smelting furnace and cast in the forming shop into metal ingots of standard specification. The equipment itself was nothing rare.
The basic architecture of a Star Ring Federation standard industrial production line was much the same as this, differing only in model and runic system.
Row upon row of finished materials, already packed, were stacked along the walls, and several of the rare alloys were of quite decent purity, exactly right for topping up the raw material for the Black Giant legion’s next batch of Talisman-Rune Artifacts.
As he walked along the production line, Jie Ming collected those materials into his inner world as he went.
His movements were unhurried and unbothered, as though he were taking inventory in his own warehouse.
It was only when he reached the deepest part of the factory that his steps suddenly halted.
Before him stood a standard-model energy supply installation.
This kind of installation was common enough in Star Ring Federation factories too, its function being to convert externally supplied energy into the motive power each production line required. But at this moment there was only a single pipe connected to the installation’s power input port.
And at the other end of that pipe was a device a size smaller than the energy supply installation itself.
The device stood about half a person’s height, shaped like a flattened cube, its casing made of some non-reflective dark gray material with not a single superfluous ornament on its surface, clean to the point of excess.
But when Jie Ming’s All-Purpose Eye swept across it, the data that came back made his pupils contract slightly.
No external energy input interface.
Thinking he had missed something, he immediately swept it again with the True-False Void-Piercing Pupil.
Still no external energy input source of any kind.
He crouched down, laid his palm against the device’s casing, and let his mental energy seep in bit by bit through his fingertips.
The internal structure was likewise simple to the point of absurdity.
No built-in energy pool, no storage unit, not even any known energy conversion module.
In the entire device there was only a trigger switch, an energy output port, and a coating on the inner wall structured to the last extreme of precision. Beyond that, nothing else.
Jie Ming rose slowly to his feet and took half a step back. Only after confirming that the device carried no markings or instructions of any kind did he reach out and press the one switch it had. Hmmm…
An extremely faint hum came from inside the device.
The next instant, the energy output port lit with a soft, pale blue glow.
The energy block fabricator beside it started up automatically, the conveyor belt began to run, and a standard batch of energy blocks was condensed with precision in the fabrication trough, then slid along the belt into the energy supply installation’s feed port.
The energy supply installation started up normally.
The energy reading on the instrument panel climbed steadily to its rated output.
Jie Ming’s finger came away from the switch, hung in midair, and paused for a moment.
This thing was absolutely not an energy extraction device.
If it were an extraction device, there was no way his All-Purpose Eye and True-False Void-Piercing Pupil would have failed to catch any external energy input at all.
The device drew no energy from outside, was connected to no energy pool, and held no storage unit inside.
And yet it had genuinely produced energy.
Produced it… out of thin air.
“Creation from nothing?!”
The instant the phrase surfaced in his mind, his heartbeat quickened along with it.
One of the two signature capabilities of a ninth-level being was limitless power.
The ability to create from nothing, to supply an infinitely large energy output out of thin air.
If this device really had been made by a ninth-level being, then its value was already beyond anything that military merit or rare materials could measure. Even if it were only the most basic energy supply module, if he could parse out so much as a thread of the principle behind creation from nothing, his understanding in the field of energy application would leap several levels outright.
Jie Ming steadied himself, and his reason quickly came back to him.
By all ordinary logic, a detachment this small should not have been able to carry a ninth-level creation.
But if this device were not a ninth-level creation, and instead some kind of energy extraction device he had never seen before…
Then it meant the octopus-men, or rather the Multiracial Alliance, held in their hands an entirely new energy extraction technology capable of slipping past every means of detection he had.
That value was equally beyond estimation.
Jie Ming straightened, the light in his eyes rather brighter than when he had first come through the door.
And his voice carried a note of excitement he could not quite hold down, which was rare for him.
“Send a team of sixth-level priests over here.”
He rubbed his chin, his gaze still fixed firmly on the device.
“Take this device down intact, together with the entire power supply chain. Every pipe, every interface position, is to be modeled in three dimensions before anything is disassembled.”
“Once it is off, take it straight to the highest-level sealed zone of the main laboratory.”
