Once the magnificent welcome ceremony concluded, the masses guided him straight into the Star Lord's Manor.

The Star Lord's Manor stretched out immensely and displayed breathtaking splendor. From a distance, its overwhelming presence looked as though it thrust directly into the heavens.

Yet, seated cross-legged inside the manor, Long Tian felt like needles were pricking his bottom, totally unsure of his next move.

Without the mix-up over slaying Demon Race members, earning such swift faith and awe from humans would have been a huge delight.

It surely would have counted as a tremendous success to relay back to the demons.

But at present, the Demon Race dispatched hunters after him. Human trust meant nothing now.

He found himself sandwiched between foes, despised by both camps.

"I can't just sit here and wait for death. I must hurry back to the Demon Race and explain everything clearly to the Demon Venerable," Long Tian thought to himself.

He refused to let this confusion drag on, facing nonstop chases from his own people.

His eyes flashed as he quietly activated his cultivation base, getting ready to bolt.

Yet, right at the doorway, four shadows materialized behind him out of nowhere.

"Lord Star Lord, we have sworn to follow you to the death."

Long Tian swore silently inside. Where on earth did these Star God Guards pop from? They clung like maggots to the bone.

"I'm just going out for a walk," Long Tian said with a pale face. "You don't need to follow me at every moment."

"Reporting to Lord Star Lord, our sole remaining duty is to protect your safety. Wherever the Star Lord goes, we shall follow."

The four of them declared in flawless harmony.

Long Tian's face jerked. He let out a light huff and stated, "I have some matters to attend to outside. If you can keep up, then follow me!"

He knew full well that mere talk wouldn't ditch these four.

His sole choice lay in outpacing them outright with his velocity.

After ditching them, he'd speed back to the Demon Race to sort out every mix-up.

Of course, the idea had occurred to lure the four outside, slay them, then head to the demons.

But these four radiated intense peril; he held zero assurance of succeeding.

Luckily, swiftness was his greatest boast.

Even without killing them, surely he could outrun them?

With a faint grin, Long Tian morphed into a beam of light and shot toward the starry expanse, disappearing instantly.

Quickly, he escaped Cloud Star and entered the endless star ocean.

But he pressed on without halting, fleeing further away.

Half an hour more elapsed, and enormous Cloud Star had dwindled to a tiny ball in his view.

The gap he created seemed plenty vast.

Hovering amid the stars, Long Tian smirked, showing a hint of scorn.

"Hmph, four insignificant fools dared to race me in speed."

"Didn't I shake you off easily enough?"

Long Tian exhaled deeply in relief. Beyond Cloud Star, the skies soared high and seas stretched wide for free flight. Once he reached the Demon Race and resolved the confusion, all troubles would vanish.

Yet, just as he relaxed, four silhouettes zipped over from dead ahead.

"Lord Star Lord, why have you suddenly stopped?"

This almost strangled Long Tian's breath. He gawked at the four, eyes bulging like he'd spotted phantoms.

One must realize that from Cloud Star to here, he hadn't slowed a bit. He'd pushed near his lifetime top speed.

Still, he failed to lose these four?

What chilled his scalp worse: these four hadn't trailed from behind—they'd looped back from upfront.

Forcing down his terror, he struggled to stay calm and uttered his inner question.

"Seeing Lord Star Lord speeding in this direction, we knew you must have important matters to attend to. As Star God Guards, it is our duty to scout the path ahead for you and eliminate any threats."

"We just didn't know why Lord Star Lord suddenly stopped, so we doubled back to await your instructions."

The four Star God Guards bowed their heads reverently.

"Doubled... doubled back..."

At those words, Long Tian's thoughts blanked out. His spirit quaked fiercely, nearly toppling him in the void from the shock.
