I Am Unaware That I Am the Peerless Martial God Chapter 1355: World Disasters
Previously on I Am Unaware That I Am the Peerless Martial God...
Waves from the ocean crashed over the whole planet.
Starting from a height of a hundred zhang, they ballooned to a thousand zhang, rushing to every part of the earth.
"Maximum Alert! Eagle Island faces a thousand-zhang tsunami, the worst ever in history. The top evacuation alert is in effect, with damages beyond calculation!"
"Breaking News! A massive tsunami has struck off the Mulu Nation's coast. An unidentified typhoon has hit land. A country-wide top-level evacuation order is out, and power and transport systems are totally shut down!"
"Emergency Notice! A historic super tsunami is heading for land. All coastal people must leave right away..."
...
In the office, Captain Hao heard the flood of news reports from his phone. Utterly speechless, he flung the device away, his face twisted in deep frustration.
"The world keeps getting crazier by the day!"
"Those wild Phantom Spirits were already a huge headache. We barely got things under control and calmed folks down. Now these TV channels are just fanning the flames. They're spreading all kinds of bogus stories without any sense of right and wrong!"
"They'll spout whatever grabs eyes! Do they even understand what a thousand-zhang tsunami implies? Total rubbish!"
The longer he listened, the more furious he became.
Captain Hao shot to his feet and paced to the window, hands clasped behind him, looking utterly vexed.
Enduring the wait for updates on that horrifying being was torture enough. He'd checked his phone after ages to ease his tension, but instead got bombarded with trash reports. It set his temper ablaze.
Right as irritation gripped him.
He spotted the Investigation Bureau staff beyond the glass suddenly in chaos. They dashed about in panic, like some huge calamity had struck.
Captain Hao, with his vast background, had never witnessed anything like it.
Unbidden, his forehead creased deeply.
"Could it be..."
"That scary being near the city—is it some alien foe that's forced its way inside today?!"
This idea made him rigid, and he grabbed the desk phone fast to reach his secretary.
Yet.
As he lifted the receiver, the secretary burst into the room in a frenzy!
"Head Captain!"
"Disaster has struck! We've just gotten..."
The secretary didn't get to end his words before the Head Captain shot him a icy stare and snapped!
"Why the hysteria? Mind your conduct!"
"Even if that alien horror has breached the city, the full Demon Hunting Department..."
But mid his stern lecture, the secretary cut in sharply!
"The General Bureau sent a message!"
"Thousand-zhang tsunamis are hitting everywhere globally! Within an hour, a never-before-seen catastrophe will ravage every continent's shores. The General Bureau demands we send out teams now and head straight to the coast!"
The near-shout froze the Head Captain, his eyes bulging.
Doubt, amazement, and horror!
In mere moments, his face shifted wildly, and he lunged ahead in denial!
"What!"
"A real thousand-zhang tsunami exists?!"
Not pausing for the shaking secretary's answer, he yanked the file and pored over it. A quick look made his eyes spasm!
"Drastic shifts in the Taitian Ocean; sea heights leaped by a thousand meters!"
"The surges keep advancing, slamming into global shores!"
"Ten minutes back, the easy-living island country sank entirely!"
"Forecast says in under thirty minutes, a doomsday tsunami beyond any human record will hit our nation's coasts. All Demon Hunting branches must urgently send forces for swift support. Race to the closest shore no matter what. Delayers face military justice!"
...
A mere glance at the file's details drained all strength from Captain Hao, collapsing him onto the couch. His glasses slipped off in alarm and clattered to the ground!
Lips shaking, he stammered nonstop, his complexion ghostly pale!
"This... this... this!"
"A true doomsday tsunami... how can this be!"
"Report it upward fast! Pass the commands now! Order every captain-rank expert to the coast without delay. Anyone lingering a second gets executed right there!!!"
Though terror gripped him fully, his bellow to act rang out instantly!
Captain Hao had ever been the epitome of calm before. Legend had it he wouldn't flinch if Mount Tai crumbled ahead. Should a real monster storm the city, he'd rally his men and lead them steadily. He'd stand firm, giving his life for the people if needed.
But.
He'd never imagined the junk news he'd dismissed was a true unfolding nightmare!
A thousand-zhang tsunami!
Such a worldwide natural fury hadn't hit since humans began. It struck nearly all areas at once. The death toll and destruction were already unimaginable; not even the Ice Age matched it!
No overstatement—this was an end-times plague!
This global onslaught came too fierce and sudden. Nobody had the power or warning to counter it, and dodging was pure fantasy!
All they could manage was to give everything to cut the losses as much as possible. The aftermath was too nightmarish to face!
If Captain Hao drowned in such utter hopelessness, the secretary was petrified solid. His earlier yell stemmed purely from obligation and belief, pushing past his instant fear.
Now, he was utterly limp.
Spotting this, Captain Hao erupted in fury, leaping up and bellowing!
"You fool!"
"Transmit the alert now! Deploy every elite from the bureau for aid immediately!!!"
The yell boomed across nearly the whole Investigation Bureau.
The secretary jolted awake, replying in a strained, quivering tone.
"The superiors already gave the directives!"
At that, Captain Hao reined in his lethal anger. Still, he couldn't spare a breath. He fired up multiple comms lines, ear pressed near for incoming info!
Witnessing his frenzy at world-ending pitch, the secretary was too afraid to speak.
He lingered silently aside, whispering in dread.
"C-C-Captain, what do we d-do? Any chance to aid the coast!"
The words reached him.
Captain Hao's gaze shadowed. He balled his hands for seconds, his features going deathly white!
"Against this planetary calamity, we're utterly helpless..."
"Our only hope is to pray in silence, begging the skies to spare our shore dwellers. Fewer deaths would be heaven's greatest gift."
These mournful lines broke the secretary, who crumpled to the ground.
He glanced over with heavy gravity, finding the normally majestic Head Captain with dulled eyes. Despair and remorse cloaked him, sweat pouring coldly!
As the captain stated.
Facing this world-shaking horror, even the mightiest were mere insects. Rushing demon-hunters there en masse would barely scratch the surface.
Before the vast cosmos, people remained pitifully small.
Without real gods in the world, none could halt the tidal wave of deaths ahead.
This instant.
Pingjiang City sank into eerie quiet, and global humanity wrapped in crushing dread. Their forgotten awe of nature roared back to life!
