I Am Unaware That I Am the Peerless Martial God Chapter 1294: Minor Issues

Previously on I Am Unaware That I Am the Peerless Martial God...
Yi Feng reunited with his old friend Gui Wanhai in a bustling inn, only to find the once-elegant young master listless and burdened by unspoken troubles. Over wine, Gui Wanhai hinted at an impending farewell, refusing to share the dangers weighing on him—family disgrace and relentless pursuit by sea clans—insisting Yi Feng remain uninvolved. As they drank in strained camaraderie, dark clouds suddenly gathered, unleashing a ferocious storm of lightning and towering waves that plunged the city into chaos, with sea clan powerhouses descending en masse. Gui Wanhai's grave expression revealed the attackers sought him alone, urging Yi Feng to flee the peril.

The modest town was now enveloped by ominous clouds, as massive waves towering a hundred zhang threatened to crash down upon it!

Far off in the distance.

Observing the horrifying spectacle from his concealed position amidst the clouds, Gui Shounian displayed a strained look, his gaze darting about without control. He struggled to decide, the lines on his face growing deeper, as though he suffered intense torment.

"At last, the mighty Sea Lords have unleashed their merciless assault!"

"Should Young Master Gui perish, the nobles of the sea clan will undoubtedly rise up to divide the oceans, dragging us all into a time of turmoil. Even those ancient experts who've slumbered for ages will awaken to vie for dominance!"

"As the proverb goes, eras give birth to their champions. If I throw myself into the array designed to eliminate Young Master Gui right now, I might gain fame throughout the four seas. Who knows, I could claim a portion of the rewards, leveraging that renown to draw in strong supporters and followers, thereby broadening my territory across the endless waters!"

Merely after a brief glance, Gui Shounian's weathered spirit ignited with passion!

After toiling in cultivation for over ten thousand years to attain his present level, he refused to stay under others' thumbs indefinitely. The allure of the Sea Lord role, brimming with vast influence and command, proved irresistible!

Still, memories of the former Sea Lord caused Gui Shounian to waver repeatedly.

His elderly hands balled up and relaxed several times.

After all, that far-off kin, the Sea Lord, possessed depths beyond comprehension. Despite vanishing for almost a millennium, he outclassed Gui Shounian by leagues. His power continued to evoke dread and reverence.

Lately, the sacred realms had fallen into disorder, and that fearsome Sword God had surfaced. This tangled, shadowy landscape only heightened the old turtle's unease.

He observed anxiously for a handful of breaths, his thoughts swirling with bizarre possibilities.

The downfall of the Divine Temple...

The Sea Lord's vanishing act.

The rise of the Sword God!

These odd happenings amplified a deep-rooted feeling of peril inside him. It seemed like an unseen, dreadful power was quietly reshaping Lanxing's overall pattern, forcing one weird incident after another.

Next, he remembered the peculiar incidents from the frontier oceans before...

The enigmatic skeletal expert.

The gigantic bear, spanning ten thousand zhang, tumbling from above!

Ever more bizarre occurrences surged through his thoughts, sufficient to cool any heated resolve. The convergence of so many colossal threats merely sparked an undefined terror in him.

The deeper Gui Shounian pondered, the more anxious he grew, until the keen gleam in his eyes vanished entirely.

"Never mind, never mind..."

"Lansting's overall landscape is in utter disarray. Even the Star Lord and Sea Lord are nowhere to be found. The Divine Temple, perched on its floating isle for tens of thousands of years, crumbled in just one day. What value does my decrepit form hold? What qualifies me to meddle in these treacherous affairs?"

"In times of massive upheaval, safeguarding one's existence comes first!"

Releasing a heavy exhale, Gui Shounian kept staring fixedly at the catastrophe striking the remote town, entertaining no more ambitions. He intended to simply observe the results from afar.

As the immense force dominated the skies and the dreadful surges drew closer, Yi Feng abruptly froze in place.

What on earth?

Are all these sea beasts targeting Brother Turtle?

He failed to respond right away, gazing back in bewilderment.

"Brother Turtle, is this for real?"

Gui Wanhai brimmed with desperation, clutching Yi Feng's sleeve as he begged sincerely!

"Brother Yi!"

"With our lives hanging by a thread, why would I joke? The sea clan's various lords have declared themselves Sea Lords. Today, they've arrived to target me, intent on ending me right here!"

"The web of deadly aura is on the verge of snapping shut. With no escape in sight, you need to flee at once. Stop delaying!"

Upon hearing this, Yi Feng at last comprehended with a nod.

"Got it."

So that's the story.

All this commotion, and the 'major issue' Brother Turtle spoke of was merely some sea critters stirring up strife? He'd assumed the fellow had lost his fortune, explaining the gloomy demeanor.

And it's only this?

Since bankruptcy isn't the case, there's no cause for concern. Why get worked up? It's merely a small matter.

Yi Feng settled back comfortably and lifted his wine glass.

"You could've mentioned it sooner. You got me fretting over nothing."

"Take it easy, take it easy. Let's sip a few and chat leisurely."

What?

Seeing Yi Feng ease into his seat so casually, Gui Wanhai stood there flabbergasted. Sensing the ominous deathly vibe beyond the pane, he forgot all decorum and skipped further clarification. He began tugging directly at Yi Feng!

"Brother Yi!"

"Get out now! If you linger, it'll be too late!"

Oddly enough, despite his efforts, Yi Feng stayed rooted like a rock, a relaxed, untroubled grin in his gaze.

He gestured lazily, refilled his drink, and said.

"Brother Turtle, relax."

"If you believe in me, take a seat, drink without worry. Empty that glass first, then we discuss."

Gui Wanhai's eyes bulged in disbelief and confusion.

"You..."

Before the words escaped, Yi Feng had already emptied his cup. He rose gradually, grinning as he glanced around.

"How about a quick contest."

"We'll see what's quicker: you downing that wine, or me."

Quicker?

What does quicker mean?

Gui Wanhai's head spun in total disarray. He couldn't grasp the circumstances whatsoever, nor fathom why Brother Yi wouldn't shift an inch. These puzzling remarks left him totally lost, and he froze on the spot, stupefied.

Before he could gather his wits, Yi Feng had already leaped through the window sword at the ready, a lone form with weapon soaring directly upward!

"Crack! Crack!"

Within mere instants, the rumbles of thunder and bolts faded away, giving way to sharper, neater cutting noises!

Right then, countless bodies rained down like a downpour, huge fish skulls and crab pincers dropping without end!

"Boom! Boom!"

Following a barrage of ground-rattling impacts, the skies and lands brightened, clouds dispersed, and rays of sun pierced through!

Amid the devastated avenues, daylight revealed the nightmarish array of massive remains. Frightened, bulging orbs dangled from the toppled structures as well. The whole town plunged into a ghostly hush, the awful clamor of the crisis from before entirely silenced.

It all resembled a surreal vision.

What appeared before them looked like assorted mirages.

Gui Wanhai gawked, gaze locked, rooted in shock next to the drinking setup!

How could this be...

The power levels of those many sea clan titans were profoundly alarming, including veterans who'd lurked for ages. Yet, in a flash, they'd become lifeless husks plummeting from on high, as if mere trashy, spoiled seafood. It defied all belief!

A world-ending menace had dissolved into oblivion instantly!

What sort of horrifying technique was at play!

Not even his sire could have pulled off such a rapid, total purge!

Even seeing it firsthand, Gui Wanhai lapsed into prolonged muteness from the shock. His quivering stare brimmed with total incredulity; he was utterly dumbfounded.

Until a known voice rang out.

"Brother Turtle, seems I came out on top."

Gui Wanhai jolted as if zapped by a bolt!

Glancing once more at Yi Feng seated composedly nearby, fear drained the color from his features!

"You! You... you..."

Off in the clouds at a remove, having beheld the whole affair, Gui Shounian also gaped in stunned silence.

In scarcely any time, fearsome sword qi wove through the firmament. Any foe it touched crumbled without resistance. The airborne sea clan resembled fragile playthings, hordes of elites wiped out in a heartbeat!

This proved way too alarming!

As the gloomy veil fully lifted, beams of light bathed the extended, blade-bearing outline aloft.

Gui Shounian's jaw dropped in terror. He swiftly ducked behind a cloud bank, panting heavily!

"Heavens above..."

"How come that Sword God is present?!"

His stare bulging with alarm and uncertainty, Gui Shounian's wrinkled visage paled to ashen!

"This! This! This!"

"No surprise the lethal setup unraveled so fast. Turns out this supreme being intervened! But he clashed with the Sea Lord before, so why aid Young Master Gui today?!"

"Is this the unfathomable depth of exalted ones' deeds?!"

With light flooding the world and no other presences above—who could say a breeze wouldn't betray him!

Crouched behind the vapor, Gui Shounian dared not dwell on it more.

"Good lord..."

"No matter the cause, this isn't for us to speculate!"

Observing the sea folk tumble from the air without survivors, a surge of gratitude washed over him.

"Fortunate I held back from stirring the pot earlier, or I'd have been diced to bits. This elder's caution over tens of thousands of years was truly wise!"

Secretly mopping chilled perspiration, Gui Shounian exhaled in relief from a close call.

He lurked covertly for quite some time.

Only upon spotting Yi Feng heading back to the town did he hastily gather more clouds for concealment. Without daring to employ his cultivation, he started furtively swimming off in haste. From afar, he resembled a wandering mist—perfectly seamless!

"A hotspot of danger isn't worth lingering in!"

"Fleeing now doesn't mean slacking off. I have to vanish as far and swift as possible! Getting caught up or confused for another would spell doom!"

In a few short breaths, the more Gui Shounian mulled it over, the more terrified he felt. His appendages flailed wildly, lamenting only that his shell weighed him down!

"This realm grows ever more frightful!"

"Henceforth, I need to seclude myself even deeper, and mask my sea clan origins too! Should this Sword God take a notion and pursue more sea clan conflicts, I'd face catastrophe!"

"Exactly! No returning to the depths. I'll seek out a tiny pond or lagoon to hole up in, stay hidden for tens of thousands of years. Survival trumps all!"

The more he grumbled, the firmer his resolve. Gui Shounian at last concealed himself amid the clouds on the edge of sight. Using them for camouflage, he then darted southward like a wisp of haze, head never emerging.

In several additional breaths, he'd crossed the Eastern Sea, aiming directly for the mainland...
