I Am A Boss Mommy That Wants To Slack Chapter 3
Previously on I Am A Boss Mommy That Wants To Slack...
Chu Xiaomeng's adorable voice left everyone frozen in place.
Lu Cheng and the guards all whipped their heads toward Chu Cichen in utter shock.
Since when did their boss gain a daughter?
Chu Cichen fixed his gaze on the little girl standing before him.
She was truly stunning, her long black hair cascading to her shoulders. Her peach blossom eyes sparkled with exceptional clarity, while her chubby cheeks brimmed with baby fat. Though still so young, she already hinted at a beauty capable of toppling empires.
Yet… she called him daddy?
Chu Cichen knitted his brows. “I’m not your…”
Before he could complete his sentence, the little girl dashed forward and grabbed his finger. “Daddy, don’t say silly things. Big bro messaged me earlier that they’re surrounded by people. If we’re late, they might have to start fighting back~!”
The surrounding onlookers, who had been listening eagerly, couldn’t help but feel baffled.
The child must have misspoke, right? She meant getting beaten up, not beating others, right?
Right then, Chu Cichen’s eyes dropped to the tiny hand gripping his finger. A spark lit in his gaze, and his voice softened without him realizing. “Who is your mother?”
“Shen Ruojing.”
–
The back garden of the Luxury Intercontinental Hotel had descended into total disorder.
More than ten guards lay sprawled on the ground, faces swollen and bodies aching too much to rise.
Lin Wanru had been flung into the water once more. She struggled desperately to keep afloat, barely avoiding being swept away by the flow. Furious from humiliation, she shrieked, “Shen Ruojing, how dare you bully me? Matriarch Chu won’t let you off! Also…Young Master Chen…won’t spare you either. You’re done for, your whole family is done for!”
Shen Ruojing calmly brushed the dirt from her hands and gave a slight nod to the butler. Her tone remained icy. “Sorry for the disturbance to Matriarch Chu’s birthday banquet.”
The butler stood as the sole one unscathed, staring at her in a mix of fear and disbelief.
Wasn’t she known as just a pretty face*? How was she so fierce in combat?
At that point, Shen Ruojing took her son’s hand and headed out.
With Chu Cichen not showing up, there was no reason to stay.
Chu Tianye furrowed his brow, his voice laced with concern. “Mommy, after beating up that Lin woman, will daddy’s family really come after us?”
“No worries.”
She could tell her son was overthinking things at such a young age, fretting over their family. Thus, Shen Ruojing reassured him, “Once we meet your father, all misunderstandings will clear up.”
Even if Chu Cichen’s feelings had shifted, Chu Tianye being his son was undeniable. From what she knew of Chu Cichen, he wouldn’t target them.
Thirty minutes later, Shen Ruojing drove back home, turning into a corner to reach their three-story townhouse.
The moment she stepped inside, the sight before her left her stunned.
A strikingly handsome man lounged on the living room sofa. His peach blossom eyes stared wide but unfocused. His face was deathly pale like paper, and blood stained many spots on his white shirt, creating a horrifying scene.
Anyone returning home to this would scream in terror.
Yet Shen Ruojing’s lips only twitched slightly. Even Chu Tianye remained nonchalant as he approached, squatting by the ‘body’ and tilting its chin to peer into those eyes brimming with unspoken grievance.
Half a minute later, the ‘corpse’ blinked its weary eyes. “Jingjing, how was daddy’s corpse performance? Super realistic, right? Even little Ye here was too scared to utter a word!”
“...”
This was Shen Ruojing’s father, Jing Zhen—an aging actor with little fame.
Shen Ruojing took her mother’s surname since Jing Zhen had married into her family. He could even be called a kept man.
His looks outshone many A-listers, with refined features and peach blossom eyes full of depth. His skin radiated youthfully, and his tall frame showed no signs of aging. He was ridiculously handsome.
Sadly, popularity eluded him.
Luckily, after two decades in acting, he had savings. This house was his own, kept even after their expulsion from the Shen Family.
Now, Jing Zhen grabbed his script and bragged proudly, “Don’t underestimate me for playing bit parts. The whole crew orbits around me. I’m the heart of this drama! I’m just that crucial…”
Shen Ruojing: “Fine, tell me—how many scenes did you have in the whole series?”
Jing Zhen: “...One.”
Shen Ruojing: “!”
So he “died” right in his only appearance?!
Jing Zhen pouted unhappily. “Why that look? Sure, just one scene, but it’s a detective show—the others investigate my death!”
“...”
Jing Zhen’s phone rang suddenly. As he answered, Shen Ruojing led her son toward their room. But before entering, she heard her father yell.
“What? You’re cutting me out now? Director, why? My character breakdown is super deep—I even crafted a backstory. I promise, as the corpse, I’ll make it come alive…”
The director’s furious voice boomed back. “A backstory for a dead extra? Are you insane?!”
Jing Zhen sounded downcast. “You won’t even let me play a corpse?”
The director sighed. “Alright, truth time. No idea how your daughter pissed off the Chu Family, but no crew will touch you now. Friendly advice…flee if you value your life. The Chu Family doesn’t mess around. Your career’s over.”
Jing Zhen: “?”
He quickly checked WeChat, finding his agent had canceled all gigs.
Jing Zhen’s brows furrowed. Moments later, he raised his head toward Shen Ruojing, his presence swelling as if he could devour mountains and rivers. “Jingjing, no fear. Daddy will protect you, come what may.”
Chu Tianye jolted. Suddenly, his grandpa seemed toweringly heroic.
But instantly, grandpa deflated to his usual self, pacing nervously. “Should we sell the house? Easier to run that way…”
Chu Tianye: “!!”
As expected, all grandpas from mom’s side were unreliable!
Shen Ruojing rubbed her chin.
Though Jing Zhen loved pranks, he adored acting. Unpopular and overlooked by crews, he still poured passion into every role, dissecting characters deeply…
Just as she moved to explain, her phone buzzed. Picking up revealed a playful male voice. “Boss, how’d you cross the Chu family? They just announced they’ll wipe your family from Sea City!”
Shen Ruojing hung up abruptly.
When it rang again, she snatched it irritably. “Not sure if the Chu Family can erase me, but believe me—I can make you disappear from Sea City.”
“…”
Soon, she sensed something off and checked the number—unknown.
Then, a deep voice she hadn’t heard in ages spoke. “It’s Chu Cichen.”
Low and commanding, familiar yet distant, it made her heart tighten. Countless words swirled in her mind, boiling down to one. “Where are you?”
“Airport.”
“Got it, coming now.”
An hour trip shrank to forty minutes under Shen Ruojing’s driving.
She rushed into the airport VIP lounge and spotted the regal man instantly.
Gone was any youthful greenness; he exuded mature poise.
She knew—this was the man she’d sought for five years.
