Seth reflected on his inadequacies in this world, thanking Kyle for clarifying his thoughts and deciding against extreme measures. He revealed himself as a Seth from afar, proposing cooperation to return home and revive the original Seth, which Kyle reluctantly accepted with a handshake. Meanwhile, Zoey arranged for the mentally broken Rowan to be taken to the Guild's mental ward and confirmed Seth's falseness with a device, feigning discord to mislead enemies while agonizing over Rowan's vanished sister.

In essence, they chose to keep the issue completely hushed up.

'They likely don't wish to draw excessive attention to this affair because it concerns me. Especially given the deaths and disappearances of several individuals.'

Once in my office, I sank back into my chair, glancing around the space.

With my fingers drumming on the desk, I remained quiet, contemplating the events. With my thoughts now sharpened, just one idea dominated my mind.

To have them aiming straight at me...

They held vast knowledge about me, while my understanding of them stayed minimal.

The situation was rapidly escaping my command.

I cocked my head to the side.

"Hmm, yes. Quite a bit."

"...You're getting there. You're getting there."

"What do you think about the current situation?"

I arched my eyebrow. This one...

Letting out a soft chuckle, the Conductor dropped its hands while shaking its head, "So you're referring to that issue. Then, there's no need for me to add anything."

"...You already know the answer." The Conductor hesitated, its tone abruptly softening, "I know you're fully aware of the steps you must take."

My stare stayed fixed toward the Conductor as the quietness dragged on. Yet, in time, the hush was broken by yet another presence.

Turning my head, I noticed Kyle shifting his eyes between us from across the room.

"I understood nothing."

Unraveling the Conductor's motives had forever been irritating. Its baffling enigmas had triggered numerous headaches for me.

Kyle shot me an odd glance as he fixed his gaze on me.

"That thing? I'm not a thing. That really wounds my feelings."

Kyle glanced briefly at the Conductor before returning his look to me.

"Not you too."

He appeared far more aloof now.

Such concerns no longer mattered to me. I pursued my own aims as well.

Rubbing the nape of my neck, I attempted to reflect on their statements. Or at least gave it a shot. Yet scarcely a moment passed before a sharp knock resounded.

I swiveled toward the door.

'I don't recall any appointments today. Hold on... Maybe it's about the incident.'

'Wait, have I even finished the quest?'

Still—

Clank!

'Damn it.'

"And I don't."

She settled across from me, crossing her legs. Then, she uttered no further words.

"If you don't want to see me, why come here? What exactly do you seek from me?"

"Huh?"

This caught me slightly off balance as Zoey stayed composed, reclining in her seat. Oddly, she scanned the room anew, as though inspecting for surveillance.

"It wasn't clear earlier, but now I'm even more convinced. You're... probably the Jester, or closely tied to him. I suspected it before, but confirmation grows stronger. Your actions back then sealed it."

Yet staring at her, I struggled for a response. Particularly since her gaze carried an unusual intensity.

"Don't imagine I'll forgive your deeds. You're the Guild's shining star currently, making it tough to topple you or persuade them of your abnormality sans proof. But rest assured... I'm patient. I'll bide time for the perfect chance to unmask you. And when that arrives..."

"...when it does, I'll make sure to savor every moment."

"I'll make sure to savor every moment of your downfall."

The door shut immediately after, quietness enveloping the space as my eyes remained on her exit point. Finally, I bowed my head, eyeing a pocket before dipping my hand inside to touch the note hidden there.

I muttered softly, withdrawing my hand while leaving the note in place.

'Looks like something interesting is happening.'
