His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker. Chapter 843 Do you remember how you met Leo?
Previously on His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker....
Bella nodded confidently. "...Bunny."
The room fell silent.
Leo looked a bit shocked.
Bella looked completely certain.
"Bunny," she repeated with innocent confidence.
Leo slowly turned toward Dr. Vance.
Dr. Vance pressed his lips together. For a second... then another... Finally, despite himself, a small laugh escaped.
Leo shot him a flat stare.
Dr. Vance immediately coughed into his fist. "My apologies." He cleared his throat, trying to regain his professional composure. "I shouldn’t have laughed."
Bella, meanwhile, looked between the two men in complete confusion.
"...Did I answer wrong?" she asked.
Leo’s expression softened instantly. He gently squeezed her hand. "No."
He brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "You answered with the name I always call you."
Bella looked relieved. "Oh..." She leaned a little closer to him again, comforted by his presence.
Dr. Vance watched the interaction carefully. His expression gradually became thoughtful.
The nickname wasn’t random.
Bella hadn’t forgotten who she trusted. She had answered with the identity that felt safest to her.
"Alright... alright, Bunny," Dr. Vance said gently, his voice calm and unhurried. He leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees, keeping his posture open and non-threatening. "I’m going to ask you a few very simple questions, okay? There are no right or wrong answers. I just want to understand how you’re feeling. Whatever you say, it’s okay."
Bella immediately looked up at Leo instead of answering. Her fingers tightened around his arm as though she needed his permission first. Her eyes searched his face, looking for reassurance.
Leo lowered his gaze to her and gave a small, reassuring nod. "It’s okay, Bunny. You can answer him. I’m right here."
Only then did she relax a little. Her grip on his arm loosened slightly.
Dr. Vance smiled warmly. "Good. I heard you love your husband very much. Is that true?"
Bella’s eyes softened instantly. A faint smile appeared on her tear-stained face, and for the first time since entering the office, she looked genuinely peaceful. The tension in her shoulders melted away.
"Mhm," she hummed softly.
She lifted Leo’s arm with both hands and pressed a small kiss against his sleeve. Her lips lingered there for a moment before she looked up at him with adoring eyes.
"He’s my Leo."
Leo’s expression flickered. The tenderness in her voice made something ache inside his chest. He had heard her say his name a thousand times but this time it felt different, more precious.
Dr. Vance watched carefully. His smile faded into a thoughtful look as he made a quiet note on the file resting on his lap.
Then he nodded slowly, as though a piece of a puzzle had just fallen into place.
"I see," he murmured.
He leaned back slightly, keeping his tone gentle and conversational rather than clinical.
"Bunny, can you tell me how old you are?"
Bella blinked. Her smile faded. She looked down at her fingers, thinking very hard. Her brow furrowed in concentration. She counted on her fingers, then stopped, then started again.
Several seconds passed.
Then she whispered uncertainly, "I... don’t know."
Leo’s jaw tightened.
Dr. Vance didn’t react. His expression remained calm and neutral. "That’s alright," he said smoothly. "Can you tell me where you are right now?"
Bella looked around the large office. Her eyes moved over the bookshelves, the machines, the desk, and the window. She seemed to be studying the room, trying to place it.
"A room," she answered after a moment.
Dr. Vance asked gently, "Do you know what kind of room?"
She shook her head.
"That’s okay." Dr. Vance kept his voice soft. "Do you know my name?"
Bella stared at him politely. She tilted her head, studying his face. "Doctor?"
"Close enough," he said with a small smile. "I’m Dr. Vance."
He paused before asking the next question. "Do you remember coming here today?"
Bella frowned. She looked up at Leo again, searching his face. "Leo brought me," she said slowly.
Dr. Vance asked, "Do you remember the car ride?"
She hesitated. "I remember holding him," she whispered. "I was scared. But he held my hand the whole time."
Dr. Vance nodded and wrote another note. "When you feel scared, what helps you the most?"
Bella answered immediately. "Leo."
Dr. Vance asked, "What does he do?"
"He stays." Her voice was small but certain. "He holds me. He tells me I’m safe. He doesn’t leave."
Leo’s eyes darkened with emotion. Without thinking, he gently brushed his thumb across the back of her hand.
Dr. Vance noticed the movement. "Do you feel safe with him right now?"
Bella nodded firmly before leaning closer against Leo’s shoulder. "Very safe."
"Good." Dr. Vance let a few seconds of silence pass before continuing. "Bunny, do you remember what frightened you before you woke up?"
At once, Bella’s fingers curled tightly around Leo’s sleeve. The color slowly drained from her face. Her breathing became shallow.
"There was a man," she whispered.
Dr. Vance asked softly, "In your dream?"
Bella nodded. "He was angry. He said it was my fault."
"Do you know who he was?"
Bella’s eyes filled with confusion. "No... I couldn’t see his face. It was dark. He was just a shadow."
"Do you think he can hurt you now?"
Her breathing hitched. For a moment she looked toward Leo, felt his hand holding hers, and slowly shook her head.
"No." She whispered softly, "Leo chased him away."
Dr. Vance smiled with genuine warmth. "I’m glad you feel protected."
He gently closed the file and looked toward Leo. His expression became thoughtful. "I’d like to continue the evaluation but slowly. She responds best when she feels safe and when you’re involved in the conversation. She trusts you completely. That’s a good foundation."
Then he turned back toward Bella and decided to test. "Bunny... Would it be alright if Leo stays outside while we talk a little more?"
Without hesitation, Bella slipped her hand into Leo’s and held it tightly. "He’s not leaving."
She said it with complete certainty. Her voice was firm and final.
Leo looked down at her. The complicated emotions in his eyes slowly softened. "No." He intertwined his fingers with hers. "I’m not leaving."
Only then did Bella finally relax against the chair, still holding his hand as though it was the only thing in the world she was absolutely certain of.
"Okay... Bunny," Dr. Vance said with an encouraging smile. "He is staying."
Bella looked at him quietly while still holding Leo’s hand.
Dr. Vance asked, "Do you remember how you met Leo?"
