Previously on His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker....
Bella spends an afternoon learning the art of herbal skincare from Nonna, who eventually decides to pass on her beauty business and secret recipes. Meanwhile, Jay and Leo reconcile after a period of coldness, with Leo forgiving Jay for his past mistakes and reaffirming their brotherly bond.

Jace had never imagined that after Jay confessed the truth, the entire Moretti family would treat him this way. It was overwhelming.

He had prepared himself for rejection, cold stares, uncomfortable silences, disgust and doubts. He had braced himself for Alessandro’s hard questions, Lina’s icy distance, Nonna’s disapproval. He had spent sleepless nights imagining the worst-case scenarios, rehearsing answers to questions that might never come.

But instead—

Everyone had welcomed him with such effortless warmth that he didn’t quite know how to react.

Lina had asked whether he was eating enough. She had looked at him with those sharp, perceptive eyes and said, "You look thinner than last time. Are you sleeping properly?" It was such a simple, maternal question that it had caught him off guard.

Alessandro had invited him to play chess later.

William had insisted he relax and treat the house as his own. "You’re family now," he had said simply, his old eyes warm and sincere. "Family doesn’t stand on ceremony. You don’t need to ask permission for anything. If you’re hungry, eat. If you’re tired, sleep. If you need something, just say the word."

Bella smiled at him every time their eyes met, her warm gaze making sure he never felt left out. She would catch his eye across the room and give him a small, reassuring nod.

And then...

There was Nonna.

She had apparently decided that Jace was now her newest ’project’.

For nearly an hour, Jace had been sitting patiently on a small chair in the garden while Nonna enthusiastically massaged one experimental herbal hair oil after another into his soft blond hair.

Nonna narrowed her eyes like a scientist inspecting a priceless discovery. "Hmm... This one isn’t bad..."

She sniffed another tiny bottle, her nose wrinkling thoughtfully. "No... this one is better. Smoother. More nourishing."

She poured a few more drops onto her fingertips before gently working them into his hair. Her touch was surprisingly gentle, her movements practiced from decades of experience.

Nonna sighed dramatically, her eyes dreamy. "Oh, your hair is absolutely beautiful. So soft... and this lovely golden blond color..."

She combed through it with her fingers, completely fascinated. "If you and Jay ever have a baby, I hope the little one inherits your hair." She glanced toward the house. "Everyone in our family has dark hair." She paused thoughtfully before patting her own silver-white curls. "...Well, except for me. But I’m special."

Jace’s lips twitched.

He wasn’t sure how to respond.

Nonna continued admiring him as though he were a rare work of art. "And your eyes!" She leaned in until she was only inches away. "Oh my goodness... They’re so blue. Like the ocean. Like a summer sky. Like sapphires."

She placed both hands against her cheeks, her expression one of pure delight. "If you and Jay ever have a baby, that child would look like a tiny little angel. A perfect, golden-haired, blue-eyed angel."

Jace suddenly felt shy, his ears turning red. "I... thank you, Nonna."

Nonna continued dreamily. "I’ve always loved blond hair and blue eyes. They remind me of angels. When I was a little girl, I used to pray for hair like that. Instead, I got curls that refused to behave."

She smiled so warmly that Jace couldn’t help smiling back.

"Thank you," he said again, his voice gentle.

Nonna patted his cheek. "You’re welcome, dear. Now sit still. I want to try one more oil. This one has rosemary and peppermint. It’s very good for the scalp. Stimulates blood flow. Encourages growth."

Jace obediently sat still.

"Is this what you were asking for?"

William’s warm voice came from behind as he stepped into the garden, carrying an elegant wooden box in both hands.

Nonna immediately turned around, her eyes lighting up. "Yes, yes! That’s exactly it!"

She hurried over and eagerly opened the box. "My premium collection!"

Inside were dozens of beautifully crafted glass bottles in different shapes and sizes. Some contained golden oil, others a rich emerald green, while a few held a soft amber color with tiny flower petals floating inside. Every bottle had been neatly labeled in Nonna’s elegant handwriting.

William smiled as he watched her inspect each one like precious treasure.

Following quietly behind her grandfather, Bella stepped into the garden carrying a clean towel.

The moment her eyes landed on Jace...

She couldn’t help letting out a tiny chuckle.

His beautiful blond hair had become incredibly sleek after nearly an hour of herbal oil treatments. Under the afternoon sunlight, every strand gleamed so much that it almost looked polished, like spun gold.

Jace noticed Bella trying to suppress her laughter.

Jace looked at her with quiet resignation. "...Is it that obvious?"

Bella quickly covered her mouth. "I’m sorry." She shook her head while laughing softly. "It just looks..." She searched for the right word. "...very shiny."

Even William glanced at Jace before smiling. "I’d say Victoria has used enough oil to supply a salon for a month. Her hair oils are legendary, but she does tend to be generous with them."

Nonna ignored them completely. "Hmph. Beautiful hair deserves beautiful treatment."

She gently combed her fingers through Jace’s blond hair one last time before nodding with satisfaction. "There. Perfect."

She admired her work for several seconds before finally stepping back.

Then...

Her eyes slowly shifted toward Bella.

Nonna called out. "Bella."

Bella immediately looked up. "Yes, Nonna?"

Nonna patted the chair beside her. "Come. Your turn."

Bella blinked. "...Me?"

Nonna smiled brightly. "Yes. I’m going to apply oil to your beautiful hair." Her excitement only grew stronger. "And after that... my special herbal face mask!"

Bella instinctively touched her own hair.

She had never really liked having an oily scalp. It always felt a little heavy, a little greasy.

But...

Seeing how excited Nonna looked, she simply smiled and nodded.

"Okay."

She walked over obediently before sitting on the little wooden chair.

William settled onto the nearby recliner, watching the scene unfold with quiet amusement.

William said with a chuckle. "My sweet Bella is too soft-hearted."

Bella smiled sheepishly. "I don’t want Nonna to be disappointed."

Hearing that, Nonna’s face softened instantly.

"My sweet girl..."

She lovingly gathered Bella’s long brown hair over one shoulder. "So beautiful. So healthy."

She uncorked one of the bottles.

A delicate fragrance of jasmine, lavender, and fresh herbs drifted through the air.

Bella breathed in deeply. "It smells wonderful."

Nonna smiled proudly. "It should. I spent years perfecting this formula. It took me over a decade to get the proportions just right. I must have thrown away dozens of failed batches."

She rubbed a little oil between her palms before gently placing her hands on Bella’s head.

The massage began slowly.

Her fingers moved with practiced ease, spreading the warm herbal oil through Bella’s silky hair.

Bella instinctively closed her eyes.

"Mmm..."

A tiny contented sound escaped her lips. The sensation was surprisingly soothing. Every movement was slow, gentle and incredibly comforting.
