His Genius Wife Is A Superstar Chapter 1671: Training an Heir

Previously on His Genius Wife Is A Superstar...
During a tense interview, Iris Long calmly defends her fans against Girl Abante's accusations of hackers infiltrating her fan club, countering the host's attempts to corner her while ensuring her team records everything for transparency. In the virtual realm, AI siblings Ketchup and Bacon observe the confrontation via bodycam footage, growing annoyed with the interviewer and deciding to seek advice from Uncle Haohao rather than act impulsively. Meanwhile, Lu Zihao returns home early to join his wife and the children for lunch.

Shun kept delivering his updates while trailing after Boss Hao. "The trainers are putting the dogs through drills at the obstacle course. That orange cat is dashing about everywhere, pestering all the guys—"

Lu Zihao flicked his hand in a casual dismissal. "Just leave it. Popcorn is only an energetic, pampered cat. Get somebody to play with him and wear him out."

"Got it, Boss Hao. There's also someone assisting the plump, grey cat with some exercise. Whenever it refuses to budge, the men lure it with a bit of food."

"Has it shed any weight yet?" Lu Zihao inquired.

"Indeed, sir. Though it's nowhere near the weight suggested by the vet."

"In that case, instruct the men to keep up the exercise," Lu Zihao declared, his voice lacking any compassion.

Thus, poor Ice Cream's destiny of slimming down through diet and workouts at Uncle Haohao's place was firmly set.

"Where is Little Jun?" Lu Zihao questioned next.

"He's out on the field practicing with his instructor," Shun answered.

Lu Zihao gave a nod, satisfied. Little Jun had taken after his mother, Jiang Ying Yue, in terms of natural power and endurance for intense physical drills.

The kid was promising material.

No matter his sister's obvious opposition, he desired an heir for Shadow Winds. Whether the group would aid his vengeance was a separate issue. Still, he'd poured considerable work into building and expanding the organization.

His initial plan involved grooming his own boys. Surely, one would turn out suitable.

With any luck....

A touch of concern washed over Lu Zihao as he envisioned his indulged twin sons. He, their dad, recognized they were a bit overweight. Despite Grandpa Lu's repeated claims that the original Lu Zihao had been a chubby infant too, he (Nikolai Vetrov) couldn't shake the worry.

The moment his twins were old enough, he'd launch them into strict training without fail.

Yet he realized it wouldn't just be his sister protesting. His wife would undoubtedly argue fiercely with him.

The mere thought already gave him a pounding headache.

Though uncertain about how much Long Jinjing grasped of his actual operations, she likely suspected they weren't entirely above board.

Long Jinjing could be naive at times, but she was no fool. In truth, she was a sharp woman, evident from her strong performance as Orchidia's CFO. She might be holding back questions about his true job now, out of love for him and their boys.

Nevertheless, Lu Zihao was certain she'd end him if he put their sons in any danger.

Naturally, he hoped one of his biological kids would take over Shadow Winds, yet if neither Misha nor Dima measured up, it didn't have to be them.

Briefly, his mind drifted to his sister's boys. Should Little Mochi or Little Matcha express a desire to tread his path, he'd mentor the nephew regardless of objections from his sister or brother-in-law.

Then the image of attention-seeking Little Mochi popped up.

Nah, forget about that one.

Afterward, he considered the reserved and diligent Little Matcha.

Perhaps it might pan out?

But the boy mirrored his father excessively. Jin Liwei lacked the makings of a crime lord. If Little Matcha developed into his father's upgraded edition, it wouldn't fit either.

Lu Zihao let out an involuntary sigh.

At last, he arrived at the training field alongside Shun.

His gaze locked straight onto Little Jun in action. The boy's instructor was among Lu Zihao's direct underlings who reported to him. The man had noted the child's aptitude for hand-to-hand fighting.

Lu Zihao observed with arms folded across his sturdy chest. Not even when a furry orange bundle leaped onto his shoulders and perched on his head did he react.

"Meow~" Popcorn tapped at Uncle Haohao's head, seeking his focus, but got none. Growing restless, the orange cat leaped off and started bounding around wildly, thoroughly enjoying itself.

With merely a handful of maneuvers, Lu Zihao verified that Little Jun's technique and response speed had advanced further since his previous review. He nodded in approval of the boy's development.

Should none of his sons or his sister's sons wish to carry on his legacy, he'd simply mentor Little Jun. Though the boy still missed the ruthlessness and ferocity required for a crime boss role, preparing him for it couldn't do any harm.

Lu Zihao refrained from interrupting Little Jun's session.

Across the training field stood multiple obstacle setups. There, the trainers handled the German Shepherd dogs.

One dog favored a limp, yet its pace lagged just a fraction behind the other four. Even with the injury, it appeared driven to surpass them all.

Lu Zihao nodded. Gravy was destined for guard duty. It performed adequately still, but not sufficiently to remain the primary protector for its young charge. It would have to serve as a reserve.

Such was the unforgiving world of combat-trained guard dogs. Even those in military or police service demanded near-flawless bodies, sharp minds, and top-tier skills. Above all, unwavering obedience was essential.

Gravy had excelled as a guard dog before. Sadly, the injury left it with a damaged leg. It might seem able to overcome the flaw via pure grit, but Lu Zihao and the trainers agreed that keeping it as Little Jun's lead guard posed too much risk, particularly in crises. What if the leg failed unexpectedly?

The child had become someone Lu Zihao aimed to safeguard. He refused to gamble the boy's safety on even the smallest doubts. As a result, he arranged for a fresh guard dog to undergo training and assignment to Little Jun.

The newcomer, a German Shepherd pup, trained apart from the rest. It hadn't fully bonded with the kids' existing guard dogs yet.

Buster, Little Jun's other guard dog, had finished an intense obedience regimen prior to joining the child. Absent any surprises, Buster as the primary and Gravy as the secondary should suffice to shield the boy. They'd also aid in mending the psychological scars from the abduction ordeal.

Lu Zihao resumed observing Little Jun. He appeared to have settled on a choice. He murmured instructions to Shun, who stayed close by his side.

Shun acknowledged with a nod, then hurried over to where the instructor worked with the boy.

"Uncle Haohao?" Little Jun looked over and spotted his uncle. A smile lit his face as he waved.

"Take a five-minute break for water," his instructor directed.

"Yes, sir!" Little Jun snapped to attention, grabbed his water bottle, and took a sip. Next, he dabbed at his perspiration. "Uncle Shun, has Uncle Haohao only just gotten here?"

"That's right," Shun confirmed.

Little Jun nodded but smartly held back further questions. As his sessions with the instructor intensified, he'd begun adopting the demeanor of Lu Zihao's team.

Question sparingly, train diligently.

Though Little Jun was still quite young, the kidnapping had stripped away much of a child's natural purity from him.

All had observed how the boy now spoke with greater clarity and poise. Much of the praise went to his therapist, Dr. Grace Poon. Through her efforts, Little Jun matured noticeably. He grew obsessed with becoming a hero like Uncle Haohao, his rescuer.

Beside Lu Zihao, his underling saluted. "Boss Hao!"

"What's the update on the boy's advancement?" Lu Zihao probed.

"Long Jun shows outstanding physical conditioning. He handles tough workouts well. His mental fortitude impresses too. I hold back a bit since he's so young."

Lu Zihao nodded. After a brief pause, he added, "Ramp up his specialized drills."

The underling looked taken aback but complied. "Understood, Boss Hao."

"And assign him a new coach. For strategy."

Shun and Little Jun's combat instructor both froze in surprise. The deeper meaning behind their boss's directive hit them instantly.

It looked like they were gearing up to mold a successor.

Their expressions turned grave, yet before they could speak, Lu Zihao interjected, "Forget it. I'll handle his training personally. When he's done, send him to the house for lunch."

With that, he departed for the house. A quick look at his watch told him his wife ought to have wrapped up preparing the midday meal.

Even somewhat distracted, he sensed an obstruction in his path. Without his discipline, he might have shoved it aside without a glance.

A chubby, grey cat lounged on the ground ahead, barring his route. It fixed him with a stare, eyes narrowed like he owed it a fortune.

Lu Zihao considered ignoring it. He attempted to sidestep, but the chubby grey cat shifted and blocked him once more. Resigned, he sighed and lifted it into his arms.

"You blasted, pampered pest," he grumbled quietly.

"Meow." Ice Cream purred contentedly at last.

Her sense of mealtime was eerily precise. After slaving away like a champ all morning, exhaustion overwhelmed her. She lacked the energy to trudge back alone. The villain who'd drained her was missing. Starvation gnawed at her fiercely.

Fortunately, Uncle Haohao appeared. She figured it was fitting for him to tote her royally to the house and serve her a feast.

When would Mommy and Daddy return? Their absence dragged on endlessly!

She longed for home.

Enduring this nightmare place was beyond her limit.
