Mu Shini wakes from a nightmare to discover red spots covering her body. While trying to find her father, she overhears him and her stepmother discussing a marriage proposal to the Bao family to resolve the family's financial crisis and cure her illness. Distraught, Mu Shini confronts them but is heartbroken to learn the marriage is decided. She then goes to her boyfriend Ye Shaochen's villa, only to find him in bed with her half-sister, Mu Xuerou.
"Sister, from this moment on, your future brother-in-law is mine, Mu Xuerou. You ought to start addressing him as brother-in-law now," Mu Xuerou declared, donning her attire. She proceeded to cross her arms, projecting an air of triumph as she fixed her gaze upon Mu Shini. "I overheard Mother mentioning that your peculiar ailment is syphilis. How could you be so utterly oblivious and still harbor thoughts of marrying Shao Chen?" "A scumbag like that? I, Mu Shini, wouldn't even spare a glance! Mu Xuerou, if you fancy him, then by all means, take him!" Mu Shini felt a violent churning in her stomach, unable to suppress the urge to retch. With a cold turn, she departed. "Nian Nian..." "Shao Chen, don't pursue her... She's an individual who brings misfortune. You haven't witnessed her during her relapses; it's a truly unsightly and repulsive spectacle! Let us continue with what we were engaged in..." A flicker of a triumphant smirk danced in the eyes of Mu Xuerou. ... Following her departure from Ye Shaochen's villa, Mu Shini's vision became obscured by a cascade of tears. Her eyes welled up incessantly, and her heart felt akin to dying embers. In a daze, the phone sequestered within her bag had been vibrating for an extended period. She finally chose to answer, revealing her grandfather on the line. "Nian Nian, Grandpa will not mislead you. If you manage to marry Bo Sishen, it will undoubtedly be the pinnacle of your lifetime happiness. Grandpa desperately wishes to witness your union with Bo Sishen before his days are through." A military decree is as unwavering as a mountain; Mu Shini found herself incapable of defiance. Furthermore, with the profound betrayal inflicted by Ye Shaochen and Mu Xuerou, a sense of disorientation overwhelming her, she had lost her bearings. Mu Shini positioned herself some distance away, across the road from the Civil Affairs Bureau, contemplating whether to enter. It was at this very juncture that a luxurious black vehicle came to a halt at the bureau's entrance. Shortly thereafter, a car door swung open. A bodyguard retrieved a wheelchair from the trunk, while two other escorts assisted a man, who bore the appearance of having difficulty moving and was wearing a hat, into the seated position. Mu Shini's attention was drawn to the license plate – 0000 – unequivocally identifying it as Bo Sishen's automobile. Why did the man before her eyes present such a stark contrast to the descriptions provided by her father and grandfather? Who had propagated the notion that Bo Sishen was merely paralyzed? Who had claimed he was afflicted with illness? The Bo Sishen she witnessed with her own eyes bore the countenance of someone gravely ill, appearing as ancient as a man in his seventies or eighties. He sagged listlessly in the wheelchair, his hands trembling incessantly as if he had suffered a stroke. In her perception, the man a short distance away seemed to be drawing his final breaths! This wasn't a matter of prejudice; merely observing him induced a profound sense of unease within her! Oh, heavens! Was Mu Shini destined to spend the remainder of her days with such an elderly, disabled, and unappealing individual? She was merely eighteen years old! Absolutely not! She had just turned eighteen, not yet reaching the legal age for marriage! Why had her family insisted she come to the Civil Affairs Bureau? Moreover, she absolutely could not marry this man! To do so would be to cast herself into a fiery inferno! Having just extricated herself from Ye Shaochen's perilous predicament, how could she possibly plunge into another unfathomable abyss? At merely eighteen, in her inaugural year of college and possessing a future brimming with promise, how could it be irrevocably shattered by an aged man? Mu Shini abruptly turned and fled, finding herself by the roadside. She raised her hand, signaling for a slowly approaching vehicle. The car decelerated and came to a stop. Mu Shini, with haste, opened the door, slid into the passenger seat, and implored, "Driver, please proceed with urgency!" Bo Sishen was in the process of executing a right turn when a young woman unexpectedly entered his vehicle. His sharp, piercing gaze, now tinged with a frigid intensity, swept over Mu Shini as she secured her seatbelt. He furrowed his brow and inquired, "Where are we headed?" Bo Sishen's voice, deep and smooth, possessed an extraordinary sexiness, resonating with the muffled richness of a cello, an undeniably captivating quality. Mu Shini found herself instantly ensnared by the magnetic allure of the pleasing voice near her ear. She swiftly turned her head to look, and a visage of breathtaking handsomeness greeted her. Astonishment bloomed within her: Could such a remarkably handsome man exist in this world? She stared, a touch of bewilderment clouding her features, swallowing unconsciously. The man appeared to be in his late twenties, his hair neatly cropped short, his features impeccably chiseled, and his dark, deep-set eyes resembled an infinite cosmos, beckoning one to delve into their depths.
