Xia Qingqian's health has improved under the care of Beitang Huan and the household staff. While Lao Chen assures Sister Chen that Xia Qingqian is recovering, he advises against interfering in the masters' affairs, leaving them to wonder about the reasons behind her situation at the ranch. A meal is shared where Beitang Huan insists Xiao Fen and Sister Chen join them, demonstrating her belief in equality and her determination to ensure Xia Qingqian no longer suffers.

"These days have been hard on you." Beitang Huan was also grateful to Xiao Fen and Sister Chen for helping take care of Xia Qingqian.

Knock, knock, knock—

Three rhythmic knocks sounded at the door. Sister Chen quickly put down her chopsticks and said, "I’ll go open the door and see who it is."

Sister Chen opened the door and saw a young man carrying a chicken coop. Inside, an old hen clucked softly, and by his feet sat a vegetable basket filled to the brim with fresh greens.

"Ah Jin, what brings you here?" Sister Chen looked at the young man Ah Jin and asked.

Ah Jin nodded to Sister Chen in greeting, then handed her the chicken coop in his hand. "Sister Chen, I came to see Miss Xia. I heard she woke up, and my father asked me to bring an old hen over so Miss Xia can build up her strength."

Sister Chen quickly took the coop from Ah Jin and smiled. "Thank you so much!" Right now what Miss Xia needed most was a stewing hen to nourish her body.

Ah Jin lived not far from the castle ranch. The land where the ranch now stood had originally belonged to his family, but because of family circumstances, they had sold the ranch to the Beitang Family. Now he just worked there as a small ranch hand.

"There’s really too much stuff—Ah Jin, can you help carry it inside?" Sister Chen hadn’t expected that there were also several plump live fish on the ground behind Ah Jin. With so many things, how on earth had he managed to get them all here?

Ah Jin nodded with a simple, honest smile, then picked up the basket of vegetables with one hand and the bucket of water with the other, and followed Sister Chen into the house.

"Sister Chen, who’s making all that noise?" The question came from Beitang Huan.

"Oh, it’s Ah Jin bringing things over. He said they’re to help Miss Xia recover." Sister Chen quickly explained.

Sister Chen laid everything out neatly.

"Miss Huan, Miss Xia, Sister Xiao Fen, hello." Ah Jin, looking completely straightforward and sincere, bowed slightly to each of the people sitting at the dining table and greeted them one by one.

"Ah Jin, thank you for your kindness, and please give my regards to your father." Xia Qingqian stood up and looked at the honest young man in front of her as she spoke.

"Miss Xia, please take care of your health. I heard you’d been bedridden for a long time, so my dad asked me to bring some things over to help you build up your strength. We hope you’ll get well soon." Ah Jin stood where he was and spoke in a quiet voice.

When Xia Qingqian stood up and spoke to him, Ah Jin’s cheeks flushed slightly. Talking to such a great beauty, he couldn’t help feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Ah Jin, thank you for your concern. I’ll take care of myself." Xia Qingqian smiled softly.

To still have people care about her in her situation was truly a blessing. No matter who it was, as long as they showed concern for her, she felt grateful.

Even toward those who hadn’t treated her well, she never held a grudge.

"Miss Xia, Miss Huan, I’ll be going then. Take your time eating—I’ve disturbed you long enough." Ah Jin picked up the basket and bucket from Sister Chen’s hands and took his leave.

"Ah Jin, sit for a bit, I’ll pour you a glass of water." Xia Qingqian had already stepped away from the table; he had come especially to see her. "You just got here, you probably haven’t eaten yet, have you? Why don’t you eat with us before you go back?"

Ah Jin hurriedly waved his hands. "Miss Xia, I’m not hungry, I already ate this morning." With a young lady of the house here, he didn’t dare sit down casually and kept politely declining.

"Qian Qian’s asking you to sit, so sit." Beitang Huan glanced at the sun-darkened young man. "Sister Chen, add a bowl and pair of chopsticks."

Beitang Huan pulled Xia Qingqian back to her seat, then looked at Xiao Fen and said, "Xiao Fen, go pour a glass of water for Ah Jin. How can we let Qian Qian do that kind of work?"

After the meal, Xiao Fen brought out a plate of fruit from the kitchen and set it on the coffee table.
