Xia Qingqian stayed up all night to care for a sick Beitang Yao, changing his ice packs, feeding him, and tending to his discomfort. Despite her efforts, he vomited and struggled through the night. Beitang Yao, witnessing her dedication, felt a deep emotional connection and expressed his gratitude, reassuring her that her presence was enough to make him feel better.

Upon his words, Xia Qingqian couldn’t help it; tears that she held back for two days burst forth. She bit her lip and said, "Yao, I’m sorry, I didn’t take good care of you! Sorry!"

He reached out, pulled her into his embrace, and rested his chin on her trembling shoulder, saying softly, "Silly, it’s me who caused trouble for you. You sleep here, and I’ll sleep with you."

"No, you just woke up. Please eat something first, okay? You’ve thrown up everything you’ve eaten!" Xia Qingqian suddenly got off him, "I’ll go to the kitchen and heat the porridge, and bring it up! You lie still and don’t move."

Xia Qingqian heard the interference in his voice, poured a glass of warm water for him, watched him finish drinking, and then she left the room with relief.

After a short while, she came in with porridge. A faint mint scent wafted through the air; this smell was familiar...

Beitang Yao frowned for no apparent reason, sitting on the big bed, dazedly watching the woman carrying the porridge walking towards him. The crease between his brows grew deeper, as if he saw the shadow of his mother and smelled her scent.

"Yao, you have a cold. Now that you’re awake, drink this porridge. Ye Feng and Sister Huan went to several small towns to buy mint grass. I used it to make millet porridge for you. Eat some, please." She feared he might refuse to eat, so she explained how the mint grass was obtained; everyone was running around to battle his illness.

"Feed me..." He suppressed the emotions rising within, looking at her, making the request.

"Okay." Xia Qingqian filled a bowl, sat by the bed, and fed him spoon by spoon, very attentively.

The bowl was empty, and Xia Qingqian’s brow relaxed. She softly asked, "Can you eat another bowl?"

As soon as she finished speaking, she had already filled another bowl and offered a small spoonful to his lips.

"If I finish eating, can I do whatever I want?" A fleeting glint of mischievousness flashed in Beitang Yao’s eyes as he waited for her response, reluctant to eat the porridge at his lips.

Xia Qingqian truly feared for his hunger, so she nodded and said, "As long as your body allows it, you can do whatever you want." She didn’t delve deeper or understand his cunning intent, merely hoping he would eat the porridge.

Beitang Yao’s lips curled into a slight smile, taking the bowl from Xia Qingqian’s hand, swiftly finishing the porridge.

Then, he placed the bowl on the table, stretched his long arm, pulled Xia Qingqian into his embrace, flipped her over, and pinned her petite frame beneath him. Just as he was about to press his lips lightly to hers, she reached up to stop him, eyes blinking fearfully as she asked, "Yao, what are you doing?"

"Didn’t you say that as long as I drank the porridge, I could do whatever I wanted?" He lowered himself and kissed her face, squinting with a smile, "Now, I want to eat you."

"Don’t, don’t do this..." Xia Qingqian resisted, face blushing in refusal, "You’re still not well, don’t do any physical exertion."

"Do you intend to go back on your word, after what you just said?" A shadow covered Beitang Yao’s face; he was visibly displeased with Xia Qingqian’s rejection!

Xia Qingqian really wanted to bite off her own tongue. How could she not be wary of someone as cunning as Beitang Yao? Even though she knew there was a hidden meaning in his words, she foolishly didn’t think it through.

"..." Xia Qingqian was instantly speechless, her eyes blurry, looking up at his increasingly closer handsome face, her breath quickened.

She simply closed her eyes, panting, awaiting the storm that would follow...
