Ning Xi rested beside the terrified little bun, who gradually warmed to her and clung to her leg. Discovering his fever, she devised an escape through a small skylight, urging him to seek help since she couldn't fit. After safely sending him out, dizziness overcame her, causing a perilous fall from the ladder.

In the meantime, within the guest room at Eden Wine Bar, tension hung thick in the air.

The bar owner, the manager, security guards, and every involved staff member huddled together, shaking in fear as if doom loomed right over them.

All this panic stemmed from the fact that the cherished son of Lu Corporation's young heir, Lu Tingxiao, had vanished inside their establishment.

Perched on the sofa, Lu Tingxiao's face remained utterly frigid. Resembling a statue carved from ice, he showed no flicker of feeling, yet his overwhelming aura made legs buckle and sweat pour down like a storm for all who stood in front of him. Silence gripped everyone—no one breathed a word.

Kneeling at his feet, a young man sobbed messily, wiping away snot and tears. “Brother, I’m sorry, it’s entirely my fault! I never should’ve taken Little Treasure to a bar! If something happens to him, I could never forgive myself!”

The moment his words ended, a powerful kick slammed into his chest.

The sickening crack of bones sent shivers racing across everyone's skin. Those present shuddered violently.

Lu Jingli clutched his chest, coughing hard, then scrambled back up to keep begging on his knees.

His parents were vacationing abroad right now and had no clue Little Treasure was gone. If they found out, a mere kick from his brother would seem merciful—they’d skin him alive.

Despair and misery overwhelmed Lu Jingli when a sudden knock echoed at the door.

The bar owner, nearest to the entrance, swung it open and frowned at the empty space. Then he glanced down and froze in shock. “Y-Young… Young Master!!!”

“Little Treasure…? Oh my god! Little Treasure! My precious boy! Where on earth were you?” Lu Jingli tumbled forward, wrapping him in a fierce embrace. Overcome with emotion, he wept uncontrollably, snot streaming down his face.

Relief washed over everyone in the room, as if they’d just dodged a deadly catastrophe.

Lu Tingxiao strode a few paces to the doorway. He seized Lu Jingli by the collar, flinging him away, then dropped to one knee before his son. “What’s wrong?”

Now free from his second uncle’s crushing hold, Little Treasure grabbed Lu Tingxiao’s hand and tugged him urgently ahead.

As Lu Tingxiao leaned in toward his son, he caught not just the smell of alcohol, but a subtle aroma too—it wasn’t overpowering like perfume, rather like blooms sprouting from ice, releasing a fresh, chilly whiff. It stirred a faint sense of recognition in him, tinged with a hint of unease.

Seeing Lu Tingxiao hesitate, Little Treasure jabbed his tiny finger toward a spot, face etched with deep worry. Lu Tingxiao scooped his son into his arms and headed that way.

The others trailed behind, exchanging helpless glances before falling in line.

Five minutes passed, and the crowd now gathered at the top-floor storeroom door of the bar.

Little Treasure wriggled to slip down from his father’s hold and began pounding frantically on the storeroom door.

“What’s going on, Little Treasure? Who’s inside?” Sweat beaded across Lu Jingli’s brow.

With a blank face, Lu Tingxiao commanded, “Open it.”

“Right away, yes sir!” The bar owner bobbed his head frantically, then spun to the female manager next to him. “Manager Ye, what are you waiting for? Get that door open now! Keys—where are the keys?”

“Uh… o-open… open the door?” The female manager stiffened in place.

What rotten luck! That woman Ning Xi was still locked inside! She’d sworn to Chang Li she’d keep her trapped there until after the audition!

But facing the two Lu family bigshots and her own boss, refusal wasn’t an option. Shaking, she fished out the keys and unlocked the door.

As soon as it swung open, the sight hit them: a woman sprawled unconscious on the ground.

“What the hell? How’d a woman end up in there?” The owner erupted in fury.

“I… I have no idea! I inspected this spot before, and no one was here!” The female manager masked her guilt while protesting.

“Hurry! Help her first, talk later!”

Right then, as someone dashed toward Ning Xi, Little Treasure hurled himself over her, glaring fiercely to block anyone from getting near.
