Heaven, Earth, Me Chapter 1633. Will and Heart Trials.
Previously on Heaven, Earth, Me...
After advancing for a while, the girls encountered three more illusion scenarios. One of them was stopping a large noble territory from corrupting and how to do it. Another was a scenario of someone close suddenly betraying them because of mental corruption and how to handle it. The last one was a choice when facing the giant mother.
Yasenia glanced at the surroundings and understood why this monster was sealed in the orange orb instead of killed. "Its aura domain allows for the soul to move between her progeny. Even if you kill her and destroy her soul, the scattered soul would merge and share its knowledge and talents with a random descendant..."
After a long time, the group eventually decided to seal it in a massive formation, using a precious item, and bury the rest of the place. After going through that last illusion, Yasenia’s wariness toward the being sealed in the orb Tatyana was holding skyrocketed.
"Perfect mimicry, rapid proliferation, and the matriarch is semi-unkillable as long as there is even one of her progeny... I wonder if they can also hide from a dragon’s sense."
While Yasenia didn’t know if there was a distance limit to her skills, this species was just too destructive. The very fact that it hadn’t spread like a plague was that their individual strength was not that high. They had incredible ambush potential. However, once that ambush failed, their strength was far below average.
As they walked while pondering what they saw, Yasenia noticed the edge of the dead forest domain nearby. Yasenia turned around and asked. "Should we turn around?"
Doriel spoke softly. "I’ve tested by sending a few shadows back, but it was impossible, Young Miss."
"What do you mean?"
Doriel explained calmly. "We can’t turn around. The way back is blocked by a perception block or something more advanced. Even communication devices have become useless."
Yasenia’s eyebrows furrowed with a touch of worry. "I see. I hope the rest do well."
The groups of eight she divided were balanced and strong. So, there should be no problem for her maids to pass the trials, or at least retreat safely.
"Worrying won’t lead anywhere. If we can’t retreat, let’s advance."
Their group stepped forward and set foot onto the devastated forest terrain. The lack of life was so pronounced that Tatyana compared it to certain areas of the Underworld. Evelyn asked. "How is the Underworld?"
Tatyana tilted her head. "Depends. For individuals like me, it can be a perfect environment. For those who don’t have any Death affinity... Well, it is called the Underworld for a reason. In the first place, going there is basically impossible without dying... most of the time."
Yasenia blinked and glanced at Tatyana. Tatyana looked back, blinking as well. "What’s wrong?"
"No... I was wondering if you’ve ever died in the past."
Tatyana laughed. "That’s a strange question to ask."
Yasenia nodded. "It is."
She didn’t pry further. Whatever Tatyana’s past was, Yasenia didn’t care much. She just loved the woman in front of her and would cheer her up as best as she could.
"Hm?"
Yasenia’s sensitive senses, and even Tatyana and Kali, all paused for a moment. The rest of the girls followed right after. "What’s that?"
Tatyana frowned for a moment, and then her face twisted with disgust. "To think they would resort to this type of test."
"What kind—"
Yasenia’s words stopped as her heart jumped. A strangely familiar yet utterly revolting aura surged from the depths of the dead forest, approaching them at a rather leisurely pace.
The other girls, who were completely new to this aura, paled and grimaced as well.
All of them focused their sights in the far distance, and Cecile asked, confused. "A... human?"
Yasenia, having faced one before, spoke solemnly. "No. That’s not a human... It is an [Abyssal Human]."
Tatyana kept looking with blatant disgust and contempt. "One of the worst types of [Abyss] monstrosities you can ever encounter."
Andrea frowned. "Are they that bad?"
"Abyssal Humans are little darlings of the [Abyss]. They can draw its powers, commune with it, and make it descend. Even Abyssal Hunters find them troublesome."
Yasenia spoke as well. "They are strong. I had to use everything I had to fight one of them."
The girls remembered that Yasenia had already faced one and how the fight had gone. Their faces gained a new trace of solemnity.
However, none of them retreated. Their bodies tensed, their essence surged, and their weapons and defensive treasures manifested. Tatyana, though, didn’t move. Seeing her odd behavior, Yasenia paused and asked. "What’s wrong, Mom?"
"It’s not real," Tatyana answered with the same contempt. "That [Abyssal Human] is a copy. As I said, this is a bad-intentioned test. A real [Abyssal Human] who has completely descended does not have such a breezy aura."
"...Breezy."
Evelyn’s lips twitched together with the rest of the girls. The aura around them could only be described as foul. The air was filled with a strange, indescribable stench. The energy was flickering and twisting in strange ways, making it difficult to draw strength from the surroundings, and the sheer sense of alienation and uncanniness from the "human" made all their senses scream that something was very wrong.
Yet, Tatyana described this sense of incongruity with reality as breezy.
"So. What do we do?"
Tatyana scoffed. "Participating in this test is something I dislike, but whatever. [Abyssal Strike]."
A sword made of pure Death energy manifested in her hand, and the next second, she sliced upward. A terrifying torrent of Death Energy surged from her sword, creating a vertical dark torrent of pure death.
That black line that reached from the ground to the heavens and divided the world vertically stretched forward without any visible end, crossing the Abyssal Human right through the middle.
Tatyana spoke lightly. "This is probably the Will Trial. You need to gather your courage to fight that thing and attack, or at least avoid retreating in fear. I don’t really like it, but well, this attack should be enough to pass it."
Yasenia looked at the Abyssal Human and spoke. "But he seems intact."
Tatyana shrugged. "He is an illusion. As much as I would’ve liked sending a bastardly [Abyssal Human] back to where they came from in little pieces, my attack won’t damage it."
Yasenia blinked and nodded. "Let’s continue forward then."
When she took a step forward, the [Abyssal Human] disappeared and reappeared right in front of Yasenia. The human stretched its mouth, horrifying tentacles and other monstrous limbs sprouting around him as he prepared to devour Yasenia.
The dragoness looked at this situation with cold, indifferent eyes. "Begone."
The crushing aura trying to suppress Yasenia’s body scattered with a loud explosion. As if affected, the Abyssal Human’s monstrous form was blasted back as he returned to a perfectly human form.
The rest of the girls felt a faint chill. The visuals of a perfectly normal-looking human becoming a mass of purplish red flesh while trying to devour Yasenia was quite impactful. "No wonder Tatyana calls them monstrosities. I thought she did that because they were from the [Abyss], not because they themselves were unholy abominations."
Yasenia looked at the rest and spoke. "You should all make a move as well. I guess that this trial needs all of us to do something to prove our Will to fight that thing."
The girls nodded and prepared to attack. When they did, the Abyssal Human would move with speed far surpassing their dynamic vision, trying to attack them, impale them, or devour them.
All the girls and Doriel reacted properly, attacking back and blasting the abomination flying. Once the eight people did the same, the surroundings finally changed.
Yasenia looked around, but as she did so, her eyes landed on Tatyana and the rest of the girls. Angel blinked and smiled cutely. "Why are you looking? Hehe, I am shy~."
Yasenia looked at Angel for a few seconds in silence, and then her hand shot forward and transformed into a dragon claw, tightly pinching her neck. "Where is she?"
Angel showed confusion, looking at the terrifying dragon eyes glaring at her. "Y-Yasenia. COUGH, W-What are you doing?"
Yasenia’s thinned pupils didn’t relax. "I will ask again." A low growl accompanied her voice. "Where is she?"
Kali approached, worried. "Yasenia, calm down. First release Angel and—"
Yasenia’s tail shot forward, coiling around Kali’s neck as well. "All of you are fakes. So don’t you dare speak with their voice. None of you are worthy, and if you continue, I will devour your very souls."
The low, menacing, and utterly wrathful growl of the dragon made the seven entities around Yasenia freeze for a second. Andrea looked at Yasenia and asked, her voice that of a male being. "How did you notice?"
Yasenia’s lips arched cruelly. "It seems that answering questions is not your forte. Don’t worry, I am best at extracting information from those unwilling. It is always my joy and pleasure to tear the words I want to hear from your uncooperative throats, even if I have to plunge my arm down your very esophagus."
The being copying Doriel frowned. "Are you so ruthless that you will destroy those looking like your lovers?"
Yasenia answered with a laugh. A very unsettling and terrifying laugh. "Hahaha...haha...ha... [Celestial Intent Domain]."
BOOM!!
Her aura skyrocketed like a demon’s, obscuring her face as her hair flowed skyward from the pressure flowing out of her body. Her golden slit eyes turned a starry blue, while her dress became a celestial gown.
All her strengthening skills flowed through her meridians, overcharging her body to the very limits. The second she did, the seven creatures mimicking her lovers were crushed against the ground, except Kali and Angel, who were gripped by her hand and tail.
That didn’t make it better, though. Since they were caught in mid-air and Yasenia’s crushing presence was pushing them down, both of them felt as if their very spine was about to be pulled out of their bodies.
The seven entities looked at Yasenia, their eyes filled with unspeakable terror. ’W-What is she?’
After safely passing the Will Trial, Yasenia was currently participating in the Heart Trial. Usually, the comrades you’ve been accompanied by would be substituted by perfect copies.
Then, these perfect copies and the main person would go through some trials that tested their relationship. As a matter of fact, there was a path in front of Yasenia leading into a large structure.
However, Yasenia had instantly felt that those around her had been exchanged. She had perfectly and undoubtedly realized that her lovers had been sent somewhere, and now there were disgusting things trying to pass as them.
Yasenia’s current feelings could be described simply: ’I’ll inflict pains they didn’t know existed until they spill where my dears have gone, and if they don’t, I will tear this whole place to pieces until I know the answer.’
"So, prepare, scream, and wail... I won’t stop even if you beg me."
