Marigold lounged at ease upon a chair engulfed in white flames, her golden gaze fixed upon the breathtaking woman seated opposite her at the table.
The domain surrounding her consisted solely of pristine white flames hissing, puffing, and crackling on every side.
A table and encircling chairs rested atop the form of a sculpture resembling a shrieking Phoenix, its gaze brimming with far too much awareness to belong to a mere lifeless form.
"Marigold of Light Torcheur," the woman opposite Marigold scowled, her eyes resembling a serene pool of pale liquid, "Your arrival here wasn't exactly anticipated, to put it mildly."
The corners of Idalia Marigold's mouth lifted, a sly grin forming at the edges. She observed the woman known as Blanche, the White Phoenix from the Phoenix lineage.
All aspects of her appearance were pure white, from her skin and hair to her brows and even her tongue. It felt unsettling, but in a captivating way.
She resembled a delicate doll crafted for indulgence.
"I've come here today solely to request one thing from you, Blanche." Idalia replied, crossing her legs with casual grace, "Given our shared past, I figured you wouldn't turn me down."
In a fleeting moment, Blanche's pale brow creased, her features contorting in clear disapproval before she composed herself back to impassivity.
The shift happened so swiftly that it escaped notice. Marigold caught it, however. She remained silent, her smile widening further.
"What is it you desire?" Blanche inquired, her slender white nails drumming restlessly against the tabletop.
"Lately, I've been eager to explore the Spirit World," Marigold started, "and I
require a tether to the Waking Universe so I can depart and return at my leisure when boredom strikes."
"And you believe I'll assist you?" Blanche smirked, but the expression failed to warm her gaze. Those eyes stayed icy as the grave, even as the heat intensified nearby.
"Why ever not?" Marigold countered, "I've made this special trip to seek your aid. Do you suppose I had to? I could just tear out the hearts of countless from your kin and end it there."
Her head tilted slightly, her golden eyes starting to spark like dying embers.
Blanche's mouth formed a tight line, her body rigid beneath her icy, composed demeanor.
"You wouldn't have the audacity for that." The White Phoenix spat. "You truly believe so?"
"Not just my kin—the entire Phoenix lineage would pursue you relentlessly if you tried. You're aware of that, Marigold. It's precisely why you're here, attempting to negotiate for my support."
Blanche let out a mocking chuckle.
"Who do you think you're deceiving?"
"I'm a Celestial, Blanche." Marigold snarled, "I'm a True Child. Do you
-!"
"How fares your brother?"
A profound hush fell.
Marigold's frame trembled involuntarily, her gut twisting into knots, her heartbeat quickening.
She shot Blanche a fierce stare, her cheeks burning crimson, furious veins snaking across her mottled skin.
"How could you possibly know?" She snarled.
"It's common knowledge." Blanche stated, "And knowing you as I do, Marigold, I can tell this visit stems from him."
"If you truly understand me, as you insist, Blanche." Idalia shot back, "then you ought to realize I'll stop at nothing to enter the Spirit World—even if your entire damned family chases me."
She halted, gazing at her more intently,
"Do you think I'm speaking lies?"
Blanche responded only with quiet. She refused to concede it, yet Idalia's condition appeared perilously unsteady.
Blanche vaguely recalled times in the past when Idalia Marigold had been in this exact turmoil. It stemmed either from visions of her brother reclaiming her or from the rejection by the man she adored. Blanche had been present then, guiding her through the agony of grief and despair.
She alone had offered an ear to Marigold.
She alone had cherished her with genuine affection. No longer, though.
Blanche had come to understand that loving a shattered soul like Idalia was impossible.
It would leave one equally fractured.
Blanche understood all too well.
Because of this, she had zero desire to entangle herself further with Marigold
than absolutely required.
Moreover, Marigold resembled a pampered brat. Deny her desires, and she'd unleash a savage outburst.
No one desired to witness the havoc a supreme universal entity could wreak in such an erratic condition.
Thus, with a weary exhale, Blanche regarded Marigold, a flicker of compassion crossing her eyes at the Celestial's plight.
"Have it your way." Blanche conceded at last, "I'll provide what you seek, and
then you leave my realm. For once, grant me this: remain there and
never return."
"After all we've shared?" Marigold remarked.
"Precisely for that reason. You had no qualms discarding those memories whenever it suited you, right? Now, Marigold, make me proud—tell me when you wish to depart."
"Immediately."
"What?" Blanche demanded, stunned.
Marigold rose to her feet, flames dancing over her form.
"I intend to head to the Spirit World this instant, Blanche. There's a wretch I need to settle scores with, after all."
"You're the wretch."
Marigold halted, casting Blanche a shadowy look, debating inwardly whether to strike or spare. In the end...
"Simply perform your damn duty."
"Tsk."

At the same time, within the Spirit World, in the territory of the sovereign known as The
Light That Was Once, Noah reclined with his legs propped on an elaborately decorated table, toying with an object between his fingertips.
It resembled a crimson Tower, though incomplete, lacking certain sections.
Elira and Yuki sprawled nearby, chatting idly about random thoughts born of their ennui.
For the most part, their conversation revolved around their Gifts. Elira had requested a glimpse of
Yuki's Sword of Severance, offering in exchange a demonstration of her own, Soul
Modeling.
Noah ignored their exchange, his thoughts centered on the Tower and the entity hovering over the table.
This being was a petite, plush, spherical fluffball, golden-hued, featuring a large
staring eye at its center. Delicate wings akin to a fairy's sprouted from its back.
The little thing appeared utterly adorable in every way. Assuming, of course, one was unaware it embodied the ruler.
"How intriguing." Noah murmured, addressing the ruler without a glance
his way, "Who could have foreseen this? Is that the reason you refuse
to recognize my mother?"
He inquired.
"Indeed, my friend Noah." The ruler replied softly.
No confrontation had been required with the ruler. Noah merely invoked the LOGOS blessing from Tiamat, freezing the entire Dominion for a single second.
That was the extent of his capability against a Ruler at present. Just one second. Yet it proved ample.
While Yuki and Elira eliminated the fiercest spirits within the Dominion, Noah handled the ruler personally.
Employing Singularity from The King in The North, he triggered an inconceivable occurrence. Noah condensed the Ruler's vast mental expanse into a solitary strand of awareness.
Then, utilizing his atomic control, he altered a single inner conduit within the Ruler's thread-like mind.
In that spot, Noah inserted a fresh neural-like link straight to the Ruler's core awareness. This link served a singular purpose: to skyrocket the Ruler's affinity for Noah exponentially.
Nothing more, and suddenly Light That Was Once regarded Noah as his closest ally, with no one suspecting a thing. Particularly once Noah restored time to preserve the Dominion's wholeness.
The LOGOS blessing proved utterly extraordinary.
Yet presently, as Noah had predicted, they merely conversed.
"So no Principality oversees the Spirit World in our universe?" Noah remarked, fiddling with the fractured Tower, "Meaning
you four hold true dominion by dividing the Principality's power source among yourselves?"
"And my mother's ambition to rule would force you to relinquish a portion of that power."
"No one desires that, my esteemed friend Noah." The ruler explained. He
appeared to gesture dismissively, though it was difficult to discern. "Furthermore, since we're confidants, I'll be forthright with you. I despise your mother, my dear friend."
Noah's mouth quirked.
Next to him, Yuki and Elira turned their attention to the dialogue, stifling giggles at the endearing yet solemn tone of Light That Was Once.
"And the reason for that, Light?" Noah pressed. Light contorted into an expression of revulsion and ire.
"Because Love adores her. And I adore Love."
Noah's expression stiffened. Yuki and Elira burst into laughter.
"I beg your pardon?" -End of Chapter 479-
