Handsome CEO's Darling Wife Chapter 909 Side Story 2: MU FENG’S MISERY
Previously on Handsome CEO's Darling Wife...
Mu Feng found himself in a deeply unpleasant mood. It had been an age since he’d enjoyed any quality time with his wife. Mornings were a whirlwind of their own separate duties, with the children occupied by school. By evening, Qi Ying would be immersed in her parental responsibilities. Should he attempt to carve out a moment for his wife, Qi Ying would invariably deflect, citing, "Our babies have exams tomorrow," or "They have a mountain of homework."
Mu Feng struggled to comprehend the immense pressure placed upon the children. His own childhood was far less burdened with homework and tests. In fact, he’d often skipped school, finding it a bothersome affair.
Beyond this, Mu Feng harbored a different grievance. His desire for intimacy with his wife after settling into bed was consistently thwarted. Previously, the children’s nighttime restlessness prevented them from having any privacy; they’d cry, necessitating his intervention to check diapers or attend to their hunger. By the time he returned to his bedroom, his wife would be fast asleep, and he couldn’t bring himself to wake her for his own pleasure.
Now, with his children all grown and attending school, he’d anticipated a window of opportunity. Yet, fate intervened. His son, Deming, proved to be a cunning child. At night, he’d infiltrate his parents' room during their intimate moments, positioning himself between them and feigning a nightmare, claiming fear.
"Nightmare, my foot! I've never witnessed him scared in my entire life," Mu Feng muttered, wishing his son would simply vanish.
"Why don't you try to discover what truly frightens him?" Mu Liang suggested from his left side.
Mu Liang, along with his family, had journeyed to Italy to visit Mu Feng and the others. That evening, the two brothers found themselves at a bar. Amidst their drinks, Mu Feng recounted the lamentable state of his life since the birth of his children. Tears welling, Mu Feng confessed, "I regret getting Ying pregnant." He felt he'd been living like a monk ever since she conceived.
Mu Feng looked toward his brother. "Elder brother, Deming isn't afraid of dinosaurs or ghosts. I attempted to scare him away using spiders and cockroaches. Instead, he ended up taking my wife away from me for a month. I’m certain he orchestrated it. What could possibly frighten him?"
"Living without his mother," Mu Liang stated plainly. "Send him to a boarding school."
Mu Feng shook his head, dismissing the idea. "Stop, elder brother. It won't work. The last time I tried it, when he was merely four, Ying fainted from despair and developed a severe fever." If his wife were more resilient, he wouldn't hesitate to banish his son to the desert.
Mu Liang countered, "That was then, and now he is grown. If you explain to your wife that it's for the family's benefit, she might be understanding."
Mu Feng's brow furrowed. "Ying will never allow Deming to succeed me. She detests the underworld business."
Mu Liang took a sip of his orange cocktail. "Even if she holds the position of Head of the Mu Household, underworld dealings are outside her purview. She cannot exert control beyond the household. If her son is destined to succeed, she must permit it. After all, Deming will eventually crave power; it's in his blood."
Mu Feng clenched his fists. "I will need to entice my son into surpassing my own power. He might just fall for the lure. Then, I'll cast him into the army base."
"He will take the bait. Regardless of his intelligence, he remains a child," Mu Liang commented calmly.
"You reside in paradise, elder brother. You have no need to concern yourself with your sons; they are no longer an obstacle," Mu Feng sighed. "You are truly fortunate."
Mu Liang raised an eyebrow. "Fortunate? I endured five years of hardship. Had I foreseen this outcome, I would have dispatched them to South America before they ever encountered Xiao Lan."
For five years, Mu Liang was unable to share a bed with Mu Lan. She had decided to sleep with their sons when they planned their expedition to South America for training. Mu Liang found himself unaccustomed to sleeping alone after they had been together. Consequently, he began sleeping with his daughters.
It was only when Li Shan or other cousins visited, taking the rice balls and dumplings with them, that Mu Liang could steal moments with his wife. At that time, Mu Feng and Lu Feng commiserated with him, even beginning to suspect that Mu Liang was wasting away from the ordeal.
When the rice balls reached the age of ten, they were permitted to depart. The fourth rice ball initially resisted leaving at age four, but later realized that refusal would mean being left behind. Thus, he departed with his three elder brothers. Mu Lan was heartbroken, and two of the dumplings wept until their eyes were swollen and red.
Mu Liang breathed a sigh of relief now that they were gone. Freedom from torture was finally his. He was now leading a blissful existence with his wife and two daughters. His eldest daughter, Lan Ying, possessed a beautiful singing voice and had triumphed in numerous competitions. His youngest daughter, Li Juan, had a passion for the piano. He enrolled both girls in a prestigious musical academy.
Once each year, Mu Lan would escort her two daughters to South America, where they would reunite with her sons. The eldest, referred to affectionately as 'rice ball number one,' was under Juan's tutelage, learning the fundamentals of leadership. Rice ball number two and number three were apprenticing with Shintaro, focusing on programming and robotics. Meanwhile, rice ball number four was studying the art of painting with Pedro.
Beyond these primary lessons, the sons pursued additional skills. Rice ball number one was also studying law and administration. Rice ball number two was honing their abilities to become a sniper. As for rice ball number three, a fascination with ninjas led him to shadow Luo Yicheng, adopting the ninja path. This path provided a clandestine method for gathering information inaccessible through hacking. Despite their contrasting natures, they maintained a good rapport. Rice ball number four, a gentle soul, was learning medicine under Pedro's guidance.
Each time Mu Lan observed her sons, her heart ached at how much weight they had lost due to their rigorous training. She was acutely aware of the intensity of their regimens. Their once round, chubby faces had long since disappeared, replaced by sturdy physiques and sharp, defined features. They undeniably resembled their father.
Mu Lan was confident that her sons would mature into remarkable men. While she regretted allowing them to leave her side at the tender age of ten, she also swelled with pride, recognizing that her sons possessed the same caliber as their father. A deep longing bloomed within her – to have them back with her, to remain by her side forever.
Mu Liang and Mu Feng were emptying glass after glass. Mu Feng observed his brother, remarking, "You're living a life any man would envy."
Mu Liang regarded him with a puzzled expression. What kind of life could a man possibly desire that he himself possessed?
Mu Feng let out a wry smile and responded, "You reside in your personal harem, surrounded by three beautiful ladies."
Mu Liang let out a chuckle at his brother's jest.
"And yet, you cannot consummate your relationships with all those women. How truly pitiful!" Mu Feng declared, shaking his head.
"Get up now! You're spouting utter nonsense." Mu Liang grasped his brother's arm and hauled him to his feet.
As they exited the bar, Mu Feng lamented, "Chen is truly living the dream. He doesn't have to stress about accidentally getting Hugo pregnant. They can enjoy each day as if they were newlyweds. I'm incredibly envious."
"Put your own son out of the equation. You'd have a splendid life with two beautiful women exclusively by your side," Mu Liang countered, referring to Mu Feng's wife and daughter.
