Kageyama's arrogance leads to his team's defeat against Yugama Middle School, whose players cooperate effectively under Akira's skillful direction. Disheartened, Kageyama is substituted out as Yugama wins convincingly. Later, Akira, who seems to have an uncanny awareness of characters from a certain anime, visits Kiyoko Shimizu. He playfully suggests they attend Karasuno High together, hinting at his decision to enroll there. On his first day at Karasuno, the new student Akira is met with admiration, while in the gym, Kageyama and Hinata's rivalry immediately ignites, even leading to the vice principal being hit by a stray ball.

Apparently, upon their arrival at the gymnasium entrance with cheerful faces, Akira and Kiyoko observed Hinata and Kageyama fixatedly glaring at the shut gymnasium doors.

"May we enter?" Kiyoko's voice prompted from behind them.

"I'm terribly sorry, I..." Realizing they were obstructing others, Hinata and Kageyama quickly offered their apologies.

As the pair turned, a sudden, horrified shriek erupted from them. Kageyama, in particular, pointed at Akira with a trembling finger, utterly speechless.

"Oh, it's Kageyama-san!" Akira exclaimed, feigning surprise. Kiyoko, standing beside him, inquired with curiosity, "You know him?"

"We crossed paths during a Miyagi Prefecture junior high volleyball tournament. He's quite the formidable opponent!" Hinata interjected, noting the dark Qi swirling above Kageyama's head and prudently stepping back a couple of paces.

"Don't mention it!"

"What?"

"It's rather preposterous, isn't it?" Kageyama, who had been looking down in silence, suddenly spoke. "You weren't giving your absolute best that day!"

"On the court, I didn't quite realize it!"

"But after observing your other matches..."

"I understood!"

"You're holding back!" Kageyama declared dejectedly, locking eyes with Akira. Witnessing Akira's impassive stare, Kageyama clenched his teeth and continued, "I'm not the same person I was back then!"

Akira gently guided Kiyoko onward, continuing their approach to the volleyball gym.

"I will absolutely get my revenge on you!!" Kageyama bellowed from behind.

"I eagerly await your revenge!" Upon hearing Akira's response, Kageyama let out another fierce grind of his teeth.

"Without a doubt!"

...Creak!

The heavy iron door swung open, revealing the faint scent of analgesic spray. The volleyball club members were deeply engrossed in their rigorous training.

As the sole female manager of the volleyball department, Shimizu Kiyoko instantly became the center of attention upon entering.

"Wow, it's been a while! Kiyoko remains as stunning as ever!"

"Indeed! And who is that young man accompanying Kiyoko?"

"Yes, what a powerful aura he possesses! Could he be a new recruit for our volleyball team?"

...

"Kiyoko, who is this young man?" Daichi, Sugawara, and Tanaka approached together. Kiyoko lightly tapped Akira's shoulder and explained, "This is Akira, the new student residing next door to my house."

"He expressed his desire to join the Karasuno volleyball club this year."

"He... is actually quite skilled." In the presence of others, Kiyoko shed the familiarity she shared with Akira, adopting a composed demeanor once more. With that, she turned and departed.

"Greetings to you three, senpai's. I am Akira, and I'm thrilled to join the Karasuno volleyball club!" Akira greeted them with a smile.

"What, you have the honor of being Kiyoko's neighbor!" Tanaka was the first to react this time, grasping his collar and exclaiming. Daichi and Sugawara on either side also appeared somewhat taken aback.

"Given Kiyoko's usual disposition, for her to state you're skilled?"

"Yes, that's truly commendable!" Daichi and Sugawara gazed at Akira with the curiosity of two little tots.

"Haha, perhaps it's because I have a good rapport with Kiyoko-senpai, and she wished to say something favorable about me." Akira sheepishly scratched his head and chuckled.

"In that case, Tanaka-senpai won't allow you to slack off!" Tanaka, at the back, rolled up his sleeves and advanced toward Akira with an imposing stride, only to be pulled back by his collar from behind by Daichi.

"Ahem, perhaps you gained entry into the volleyball club through Kiyoko's recommendation." Daichi placed a hand on Akira's shoulder and remarked, "However, regardless, once you join the volleyball club, we are all teammates from this moment forward."

"Furthermore, I notice your height is certainly adequate. Even if you lack experience, I believe you'll develop significantly with consistent training here."

"No, I..." Seeing that Daichi had clearly misunderstood, Akira attempted to clarify.

But Sugawara chimed in gently beside him, "Haha, it's alright, don't feel self-conscious. Even if your volleyball skills aren't top-notch, we can still become great friends!"

"Our volleyball club greatly benefits from fresh talent like yours!"

"Should you require any assistance, please don't hesitate to approach us."

"Thank you for your concern, Sugawara-senpai. It's just that I'm..." Akira began with a smile, but his words were cut short by the abrupt opening of a door.

"Captain, please play with us!"

"We'll demonstrate our ability to cooperate!" Hinata and Kageyama declared loudly. "If we are defeated, we will readily accept any consequence!"

Responding with a deep tone, Daichi declared, "Precisely! Besides you two, two new students are joining the volleyball club. Let's have a three-on-three match against them! If you lose, then as long as we third-graders are still active, we won't allow you two to play in the starting lineup."

Hinata was taken aback upon learning Akira would participate in the 3v3 match with them. Kageyama couldn't refrain from remarking, "Allowing this man to join our team, wouldn't that make winning far too effortless?"

However, Daichi appeared to have different intentions. A slight furrow formed on his brow as he stated, "Don't you believe that's fair? Then let's do this: Akira will join the opposing team! Tanaka will join yours!"

Just as Hinata was about to object, Akira interjected, "Just follow Daichi Senpai's arrangements!" Standing on the steps, Akira looked at the pair with a smile. It was a benevolent smile, yet to Kageyama and Hinata, it resembled that of a devil.

Daichi cast a surprised glance at Akira, appreciating his finesse in handling interpersonal dynamics. "Very well, today's training concludes here. Training resumes tomorrow morning at 7 a.m., and don't be late!"

As the day wound down, Kiyoko inquired if Akira wished to accompany her home. Akira agreed, and they arranged to meet the following day.

The Next Morning

The subsequent morning, Tanaka arrived at the gymnasium at 5 a.m., possessing the keys. Hinata and Kageyama were already present, their minds occupied with concerns about the impending match. Tanaka had anticipated their arrival for clandestine practice and was awaiting them.

Upon entering the gym, Tanaka found himself contemplating Daichi's earlier words: 'Although Kageyama possesses exceptional skills, if he continues to be so self-absorbed, I fear it will only impede the team!

But circumstances have changed! Kageyama still has Hinata on his team! Even if he's not yet accustomed to this level of play, he exhibits remarkable speed and reflexes! Furthermore, his jumping prowess is extraordinary!

It's unfortunate he hasn't found the ideal setter yet! And Kageyama is seeking a spiker capable of swift attacks! If these two can synergize their abilities, then... they could forge something truly magnificent! Karasuno's potential for improvement is immense!'

Tanaka observed Hinata and Kageyama, who were bickering over who would enter the doorway first. "Oi, you two, hurry up and get inside for training!"

Saturday Morning

Akira awoke early to fulfill his training objectives:

* Long-distance running (5000/5000), endurance +0.1

* Sprint run (2000/2000) with burst speed +0.2

* Sit-ups (100/100), smash force +0.1

Having completed his regimen, Akira contacted Kiyoko to head to school together. Upon their arrival at the volleyball gym, the atmosphere was already buzzing with activity.

Tsukishima taunted Kageyama, remarking, "Oh, you've arrived! Quickly warm up, the game commences shortly!

But it matters little; no matter our efforts, victory against the king of the court is unattainable!"

As Akira entered the stadium, Tsukishima's expression shifted to one of disbelief. "You... is it going to be you?" Daichi Senpai intervened, stating, "Tsukishima-kun, Akira is your teammate this time. I trust you will cooperate effectively!"

The match was on the verge of commencing, with Akira, Tsukishima, and Yamaguchi set to compete against Kageyama, Hinata, and Tanaka. Akira offered a smile and declared, "In this match, Tsukishima, you shall be the setter. Let us begin our warm-up!"
