Haikyuu : The Unstoppable Force Chapter 334 - : End!
Previously on Haikyuu : The Unstoppable Force...
Following the conclusion of that Spring High tournament, Karasuno embarked on a prolonged period of dominance!
Throughout the entire three years Akira was enrolled in high school, regardless of the formidable strength exhibited by other schools nationwide...
Not a single team managed to seize the championship title from Karasuno's grasp!
With their unparalleled prowess and a string of dazzling accomplishments, it was only a matter of time before they attracted a surge of new, promising talent.
A multitude of elite junior high volleyball players from across the length and breadth of Japan chose Karasuno as their ultimate destination.
This influx, in turn, served only to further solidify Karasuno's already established supremacy!
Future generations would come to affectionately refer to this remarkable era as...
The Karasuno Dynasty!
...
Five years after that fateful Spring High competition, the Sendai City Gymnasium became a hive of activity once more.
The current day marked a V1 League tour match, with two of the league's most formidable teams, the Schweiden Adlers and the MSBY Black Jackal, slated to clash within this very venue!!
At this precise moment, the intense battle unfolding on the court was in full, captivating swing.
And any spectator who had witnessed the Spring High tournament five years prior would undoubtedly recognize the familiar faces gracing the arena today...
The very players now actively competing were the same well-known figures from the past.
The Adlers' setter, Tobio Kageyama, alongside wing spiker Kōrai Hoshiumi and the imposing wing spiker Wakatoshi Ushijima...
Contrasted by the Black Jackal's formidable blocker Shōyō Hinata, the dynamic wing spiker Kōtarō Bokuto, the precise outside hitter Kiyoomi Sakusa, and the agile setter Atsumu Miya...
Compared to their high school days, each athlete now possessed skills befitting the highest professional echelons!
They were no longer the youths who once graced the court!
As the game drew agonizingly close to its conclusion, Daichi Sawamura, Kōshi Sugawara, and Kei Tsukishima occupied seats in the audience, their gazes fixed intently on the unfolding drama. Abruptly, Daichi felt a gentle pressure on his shoulder.
He turned, a flicker of surprise on his face, only to be greeted by two incredibly familiar, beaming smiles.
"Haha! Akira! You actually made it! And Shimizu too! It’s been ages!!"
"Indeed! We haven’t seen hide nor hair of you since you moved back! I certainly didn’t anticipate you returning this time!!"
Daichi rose to his feet, a look of astonishment evident. Sugawara and Tsukishima, equally taken aback by the sudden appearance, quickly swiveled their heads and shared in the bewilderment. Upon realizing it was indeed Akira and Kiyoko Shimizu, they enthusiastically converged around them.
"Haha, yes! Daichi-senpai, it truly has been many years!"
Akira responded with a self-deprecating chuckle, playfully scratching the back of his head, while Shimizu, standing beside him, offered a soft smile, her arm linked with his.
Following their high school graduation, Akira had pursued his higher education back in China.
Later on, Kiyoko also relocated to China to join him after completing her own studies. Whispers and rumors suggested the pair were contemplating marriage within the next few years.
Not too long ago, Akira had reached out to Daichi and the others, mentioning his intention to take advantage of his vacation time for a visit back to Miyagi Prefecture.
Fate had it that he would arrive just in time for this pivotal match!
Amidst their cheerful reunion and conversation, the referee's whistle pierced the air on the court, signaling the definitive end of the game!
Ultimately, the Black Jackal emerged triumphant, outplaying the Adlers with a decisive final score of 3–1!
"Haha! Let’s go! Let’s go greet those guys!"
The group wasted no time, making their way directly towards the court.
The match had just concluded, and the players were still engaged in various post-game interviews.
Akira’s gaze inadvertently met Hoshiumi’s, who was making his way towards the sidelines. Hoshiumi paused for a mere second, his face instantly lighting up with recognition, and he strode over with palpable excitement.
"You! You just disappeared for years!"
He approached and delivered a friendly, playful punch to Akira’s shoulder.
"I believe you’re the one who seemed to vanish!"
"Haha! What are you even talking about! Hoshiumi-senpai, I’ve been posting updates on my social media constantly!"
Akira retorted with a wide grin.
The animated exchange quickly drew the attention of several other players still occupied with their interviews. As soon as they registered the situation, they too gravitated towards the group.
"Whoa! Who is this? I almost didn’t recognize him!"
"Haha! I was actually planning this trip to visit you in China, but look who decided to come back instead!"
"Akira’s appearance has changed so much—initially, I truly didn’t realize it was him..."
"We haven’t crossed paths in years—has your skill level dulled? You wouldn’t possibly lose to me if you stepped back onto the court, would you?"
Akira responded with a smile, deftly navigating the barrage of greetings and lighthearted jibes.
On the court, they might have been fierce rivals—or perhaps, on occasion, willing teammates—but off the court, a vast majority of them had blossomed into genuine friends.
During his transformative three years in high school, Akira had forged numerous authentic connections through the shared passion of volleyball.
"Of course my skills haven’t faltered! The Chinese University League is brimming with an abundance of exceptional players!"
"Oh, really?"
Hinata leaned in, his curiosity piqued.
"Aren’t there even more top-tier players in the professional leagues, though?"
"In approximately two years, I’m seriously considering venturing overseas to compete professionally! Perhaps I’ll encounter you all on the other side of the world!"
"Haha, you are always most welcome!"
... …
The friendly banter flowed ceaselessly, imbued with warmth and vibrant energy. Before they were fully aware of it, a significant portion of the spectators had already departed from the gymnasium.
Suddenly, Akira seemed to recall a particular piece of information and turned his attention towards Ushijima.
"Speaking of which, Ushijima-senpai, I happened to run into Tendō-senpai during a recent trip not too long ago!"
Upon hearing this, Kageyama, Hinata, and the rest of the team halted, taken aback.
"I actually met Oikawa down in Brazil!" Hinata enthusiastically chimed in.
"That's right!"
Akira confirmed this with a smile.
"I heard he managed to acquire Argentine citizenship and even got selected to play for their national team!"
"If we ever end up facing him in an international competition... you'd best be cautious about getting spiked straight into the ground!"
"Hey, hey!!"
"You should probably be more concerned about yourself first!"
Kageyama let out a wicked grin.
"If we have a showdown then, I'll definitely beat you!"
"Haha! I'm not the least bit afraid of you!!"
Akira tilted his head upwards, a confident smile gracing his lips.
