Prison Island
My gaze fell upon the Forbidden Wizard Erwin. He seemed to realize that it was me.
"How did you get here?"
"Your presence isn’t even triggering the forbidden restrictions," Erwin asked doubtfully.
I collected my thoughts and said, "Lord, now is not the time to discuss that. I need to know how to rescue you."
"How to rescue me?" Erwin uttered.
His gaze deepened. He regained some clarity in his thoughts. His mind had been clouded because of his injuries, but now he could think properly.
"Vincent Carey, I don’t know how you got here, but you should leave. If you come across the Elder-Level Wizard, you will die. So, leave," Erwin said in a serious tone.
He didn’t want anything bad to happen to Vincent Carey. After all, the young man was the hope of the next generation for their White Silver Faction.
He didn’t want the young man’s journey to end here.
"Lord, I have come this far to find you. You have to help me. Tell me if there is a way to rescue you," I urged again.
Hearing that, Erwin raised his eyebrows. A drop of red blood dripped from his brow and fell to the ground.
His condition was dire. He didn’t want to endanger the young man’s life, yet for some reason, he felt compelled to accept his help.
He sensed that Vincent Carey might actually be capable of pulling it off.
After all, the young man had completed dangerous missions before and succeeded every time.
Erwin then took a deep breath.
He said, "It seems there are only two ways to rescue me, either that crazy woman releases me herself, or the underground prison cell is destroyed."
After saying that, he watched Vincent’s expression, noticing the young man had fallen silent.
He continued, "It’s too risky for you. You had better leave."
Meanwhile, I was digesting the information. Obviously, I could not make the Elder-Level powerhouse release him.
If she saw me, she would kill me on the spot. I could only consider the second option, but executing it would take time. I didn’t know if the Forbidden Wizard could hold out that long.
"Lord Erwin, is there any other way?" I asked.
Forbidden Wizard Erwin managed a faint smile before saying, "Kid, you should know about Elder-Level powerhouses. They can flatten an entire country on their own. It won’t be easy to escape from here."
"I’m afraid I might die here. You should return to the Silver Tower and report to Lord Charlotte and Elder Dana. They will know what to do next," he added.
Right then, the injuries took their toll. He slowly lost consciousness and closed his eyes.
Seeing that, I consulted the system.
"System, what happened?" I asked.
"Ding! Host, the wizard has fallen unconscious."
I heard the system’s voice echo in my mind. I realized that lingering here wouldn’t help. I decided to leave and used the system to scan the surroundings.
Swoosh!
I began to ascend. In the blink of an eye, I reached the top of the well entrance. When I looked outside, I saw no one around.
Next, I followed the system’s guidance to exit the area. It didn’t take long for me to return to the rundown buildings.
Right then, I spotted a few wizards out on patrol. I slipped into a dilapidated building to hide; I couldn’t afford to linger here for long.
I waited for the patrolling wizards to move on. Once they cleared the area, I exited the building and rushed back toward the exit.
A few minutes later,
I reached the barrier and used the same scroll to pass through it. Once outside, I remembered the prisoner I had captured.
I entered the system space and brought out the sleeping Magic Lord. Just as he began fluttering his eyes open,
I vanished back into the system space. The Magic Lord was terrified. He looked around before noticing the scroll lying on the ground.
Recognizing it as his own, he picked it up and fled. He knew he had been captured by someone and only just released.
Unwilling to remain in the area any longer, he quickly left.
Twenty minutes later,
I reappeared outside and activated my flight ability, rising into midair.
I then began flying away from the prison island.
After traveling for twenty minutes, I set my course toward the Black Mist Forbidden Land. Since I had already come this far,I had to find a way to save him.
I couldn’t do it on the prison island; my only hope lay on the main island.
As I flew toward the Forbidden Land, I kept a close eye on my surroundings, wary of bumping into other wizards.
From time to time, the system alerted me to nearby wizards, but they were all preoccupied with their own business. None of them headed in my direction.
Swoosh!
I sped toward my destination as fast as I could.
Time passed.
Night fell, and land finally appeared on the horizon, resembling a coastline. Seeing this, I accelerated.
Swoosh!
In the blink of an eye, I closed the distance and landed on the beach. I immediately instructed the system to scan the area.
If I wasn’t mistaken, this was the perimeter of the Black Mist Forbidden Land.
[Ding! Danger detected.]
[Ding! Traces of corrupted mana detected in multiple locations.]
The system’s voice chimed in my mind, and a glint flashed in my eyes. So I was right, I had indeed set foot in the Black Mist Forbidden Land.
From here, I needed to locate the main base. It had once belonged to the old wizard organization, though it had fallen to ruin following a past disaster.
According to intel, new structures had been erected over the ruins. I suspected that site was now being used by the Covenant.
Collecting my thoughts, I decided to enlist the help of my subordinates. I promptly teleported into Gregor Mansion.
I summoned everyone to the hall and briefed them on the situation. Upon learning that I had reached the Black Mist Forbidden Land, they were all stunned.
"You met with Forbidden Wizard Erwin, and he told you to leave, yet you’ve chosen to rescue him anyway?" Lady Caitlin asked.
I nodded in response.
Otto, Patrick, Hank, and old man Rock heard this as well, left speechless.
If their master was determined to find a solution in the Black Mist Forbidden Land, they had no choice but to back him with everything they had.
