After enjoying the coffee and dishes in the cafeteria, I paid the bill before leaving. My sudden departure had caught the stalkers off guard.

They couldn’t get up from their seats without finishing their dishes. The staff’s gazes were on them.

On the other hand, I entered a cab and asked the driver to take me to a good hotel.

Ten minutes later,

I stepped out of the car and paid the fare to the driver. When the cab was gone from the area, I used the system to check whether anyone was following me.

The system results came back negative. Then I walked inside the hotel and booked a room.

A few minutes later,

I was inside the room, waiting for midnight to come. I had been thinking of releasing the zero puppet to collect information.

The system results stated that there were no Elder Level Powerhouses nearby, which meant I could take a risk. Gold City had attracted far more powerful wizards than I had anticipated.

The auction is going to be extraordinary. After pondering, I made a firm decision.

At midnight, I brought the zero puppet out.

"Master," the Zero Puppet greeted me.

I nodded and explained the situation I was facing.

"Collect intel regarding the auction. Then find out information on the various forces, and whether they have any elder-level backers here," I said to the zero puppet.

"Okay," the Zero Puppet agreed.

The next second, it transformed into black and red smoke.

The zero puppet left the room through the window. Seeing that, I decided to wait for the puppet to return. I should use this opportunity to buy the relic.

I didn’t know what the base price was. Another idea came to my mind; it seemed less troublesome. Instead of bidding for the auction item, I could directly target the person who successfully bought it.

A quick gleam appeared in my eyes. Looting and plundering suited me. Then I made a decision to buy a ticket to attend the auction.

Meanwhile,

The black and red smoke went to the nearest restaurant to collect information. As time passed, it went to other public places where people gathered in the nighttime.

Because of the auction news, people were coming to the city during the night as well. The zero puppet continued to collect new information.

There were some powerful local forces here. They were wary of the people coming from the inside. Wizards from powerful forces had come for the auction as well.

So, the auction was not going to be smooth. There would be some commotion for sure. But so far, the zero puppet hadn’t found any information regarding an Elder Level Powerhouse attending the auction house.

But no one could tell for sure. They could come in disguise.

Four hours later,

The zero puppet returned to the hotel room and briefed me on everything. It took the puppet 10 minutes to share the important information.

The puppet had collected a lot of information, but it filtered out the noise. It only stored the information related to the auction.

After hearing the zero puppet’s information, I sighed inwardly. I was right. A lot of wizard forces were involved this time. The forces might use their wealth to buy the special relic.

Special relics are hard to find. It’s even harder to find them in a chaotic land. Since it had appeared, it would definitely cause the forces here to move.

The more I thought about it, the more I felt the second choice was right. Looting and plundering was the right option. It had been some time since I had acted outside the rules.

I guessed this time I could gain more treasures by targeting the forces here. I didn’t think I was the only one with this intention; there would be others as well. I couldn’t wait for the auction to start in two days.

The next morning,

I left the hotel and went to the city auction house in a cab.

"Customer, are you going to attend the auction?" the driver asked.

Hearing the question from the middle-aged man, I nodded my head.

"Customer, then you are going to face trouble. The available seats were already booked by prominent people. The ones given to the public are last-row seats," the driver said.

I raised my eyebrows in curiosity. The middle-aged man didn’t look like an ordinary driver.

"Do you have a way to buy tickets?" I asked.

[Ding! An extreme greed detected from the driver.]

[Ding! The host is advised not to fall into the trap.]

Hearing the system’s voice in my mind, my heart skipped a beat. I had underestimated the people. The driver might look harmless, but he could be part of a certain illegal force.

The driver was consumed by greed. The masked man was not responding to him at all. He thought he had caught a big fish, but he couldn’t see through the mask to confirm.

"I will buy a last-row ticket," I said in a flat tone.

The driver was taken aback. His mood turned sour, so he didn’t speak along the way. It didn’t take long for the cab to reach the auction house.

But there was a huge crowd and a traffic jam. The cab didn’t have space to park, so the driver decided to stop right there.

"Customer, I don’t have space here," he said.

Hearing that, I understood and agreed to step out.

The driver pulled up to the ground at his current spot. Many of the vehicles behind were doing the same. Then I stepped outside and paid the fare to the driver.

Then I started walking towards the auction house. I saw many other passengers stepping out of their cars and heading towards the building.

Seeing that, my mouth twitched. Don’t tell me these people have never seen a special relic in their lives.

If they knew how many special relics I have consumed to upgrade my talent, they would be shocked to the core.
