Crystal City Shop
Faction Leader Edmund and Jonah exchanged glances. Their visit served two purposes. Primarily, they sought to assess Frank’s well-being.
Secondly, they aimed to encounter the new shop proprietor. Ownership had changed, so business discussions demanded a meeting with the current owner.
Meanwhile, I pierced through their intentions.
"Feel free to speak your mind. No issues will arise," I assured them.
Sigh!
Edmund let out a deep sigh.
"We came to check on you first, then to speak with the new shop owner. Business matters need his attention," he explained.
"What kind of business?" I inquired, caught off guard.
Edmund paused briefly. Then it dawned on him that Frank served as an appraiser. He could potentially offer appraisal services to them too.
"We seek to negotiate appraisal deals. Our hope is for this shop to provide services to the Wizard Association," Edmund replied, grinning.
That revelation made my eyebrows shoot up in astonishment.
"That explains your interest in the new owner. Vincent Carey arrives at the shop the day after tomorrow."
"Return then," I suggested to them.
"Excellent news! We pondered the best time to see him. With Wizard Vincent Carey due the day after tomorrow, we’ll return," Edmund responded.
They rose to depart. I got up as well and escorted them to the door. I observed their departure from the shop.
Once they vanished from sight, I spun around to head back. Customers filled the gallery room, catching my eye.
They awaited appraisal services. Otto and Patrick hustled away. Noticing this, I chose to lend a hand.
"Need any assistance?" I offered them.
My words drew everyone’s attention my way.
"Appraiser Frank!"
"Appraiser Frank, please help us out."
Several customers approached me.
"Fine. Let me see the item," I requested.
A senior gentleman presented a vase crafted from mysterious material. Surprise flickered across my gaze.
I activated the system’s probe feature.
[Ding! A rare vase made of nightstone detected.]
The system’s voice echoed in my head. Instantly, shock gripped me.
"What do you plan to do with it?" I questioned.
The middle-aged man beamed and replied, "I intend to add it to my collection. I visited to confirm its genuineness."
"Should it prove authentic, I can pawn it in emergencies," he continued.
In response, I grinned and declared, "This is a genuine treasure. Pawn it anytime without concern. Known as the Nightstone vase, it’s fashioned from nightstone material."
Thrilled by this, the middle-aged man eagerly took back the vase, securing it properly. Satisfied with the appraisal, he headed to settle the fee.
With that, I assisted the rest. Soon, the crowd thinned out, only for fresh visitors to arrive.
These newcomers carried fresh gossip. Chatter about Sun Haven City filled the air. Revelations of banned items from Sun Haven City rocked the magic city and its surrounding areas.
Within the appraisal shop’s safety, they freely debated treasure worths. My face lit up with a wide grin upon hearing it.
Unaware that I had claimed the true banned item, their ignorance amused me. My thoughts shifted to the Zero Puppet, surely gathering intel at that moment.
…
Outside,
The Zero Puppet, manifesting as dark red mist, scoured key locations for data, including wizard family magic stores.
It hunted for the magic mask. Though barred from wizard family estates, the Zero Puppet slipped into unprotected stores below Magic Lord level.
Searching for the magic mask, it rifled through books and wizard records. Book collections yielded valuable insights too.
Thus, the Zero Puppet’s database grew robust. Over time, it amassed scarce details on various topics.
…
Time flew by,
At the stroke of midnight, the dark red mist reentered the room. I lingered by the window, awaiting the Zero Puppet.
The puppet arrived precisely on schedule, beyond my expectations. Uncertainty lingered about its findings.
In a flash, the dark red mist reformed into the puppet’s crimson body.
"Master," the Zero Puppet addressed me.
"Any discoveries?" I probed.
"Master, I gathered extensive details on the magic mask. Yet, the mightiest one resides with the Mage Union," the Zero Puppet reported.
A sharp glint sparked in my eyes.
Unfazed, I gathered my focus and inquired about additional intel acquired.
I aimed to gauge Otto against the Zero Puppet’s prowess. Otto merely eavesdropped on conversations, while the Zero Puppet excelled far beyond.
It now possessed enhanced mobility, traversing freely. The dark red orb’s power proved extraordinary.
This rare banned artifact hailed from the Old Ones’ era. The Zero Puppet kept divulging facts.
An hour passed before the puppet concluded its report. Information overloaded my thoughts, triggering a mild ache. I expressed gratitude to the Zero Puppet before storing it in the Gregor Mansion.
The function stayed active. The puppet felt more vibrant than ever.
…
The next day,
The shop buzzed with routine activity. I dispatched the Zero Puppet once more. Crystal City held untouched spots for it.
Thus, the dark red mist vanished through the window again. With the Zero Puppet away, a clever notion struck me.
Sending the Zero Puppet to distant cities tempted me, though capture posed risks.
Its improved reasoning impressed me. Inevitably, memories surfaced of the colossal humanoid that assaulted Sand Fall City.
Days had elapsed without updates on the city attacker. Could the Mage Union have suppressed the story?
Chaos unfolded beyond these walls, while I managed mundane trade here. Bolstering my allies became essential.
